We recently stayed at the Dreams Resort and had a fabulous time, and when the hotel is finished it will be fantastic however it would only be fair to review the hotel on the facilities currently available. The hotel is fantastically located if you want to be away from the noise and traffic of Funchal - perfect for us who wanted to do a bit of walking. The grounds have been beautifully put together, and they use a lot of the outside spaces for events and restaurants and lovely to wander around. I would say if you have mobility issues this is not the right hotel for you. Rooms - we received an upgrade which we were very grateful to be given so had a wonderful room that was spotlessly clean with a lovely big bed, fantastic bathroom and balconies overlooking the marina - we couldn't have asked for more and it was one of the nicest rooms we have ever stayed in. I do find the beds uncomfortable in europe so be sure to ask for a mattress topper. We also had the choice, as preferred guests, of different pillows. 10/10 for the room which come with robes and slippers. Service - everyone we spoke to was welcoming and helpful, and service could not have been better. The staff in the restaurants were amazing. Michelle in the Preferred Lounge gave us a fantastic welcome. Pools - we visited in December so couldn't use the sea pool, however we did use the adult only pool which was heated to around 21 degrees so OK if you like a colder swim. Lots of lovely beds to use, however again as the weather was poor we didn't use them. Restaurants - we have never stayed all inclusive and didn't know what to expect however we were very pleasantly surprised as there is lots of choice in each a la carte restaurant which you can book on the hotel app each day. The quality of the food was excellent as was the service. We must call out Carvao where we had two meals as the food was exceptional. Each time you visit you are met with a welcome drink linked to the restaurant which is a lovely touch. The World Cafe left something to be desired on an evening with what looked like hundreds of quite unappetising, random dishes so we didn't eat here. I would suggest the hotel focuses on a max of 10 dishes - well cooked simple ones that people want in an informal setting after a day out. Breakfast was good with lots of options and lovely pastries and hot food, but I think there are a few tweaks needed on service and the flow of the area as we visited with only 30% occupancy and food was not being replaced or taking some time to prepare (egg and smoothie stations). I also think a 5 star should serve freshly squeezed orange juice, not the watered down version available and also offer table service for coffee and tea. Drinks and snacks are also available from the coffee and gelato shops, and we availed ourselves of the copious amounts of cookies available every day! Spa - we only found out a few weeks before arriving that the spa area was not yet open
