Zhuhai Weather Guide 2026: Best Time to Visit & Transport Tips

Welcome to Zhuhai! Honestly, as a traveller who frequently pops over the border from Hong Kong for weekend staycations, this city holds a special place in my heart. Located just across the Pearl River Estuary in Guangdong Province, Zhuhai is a literal breath of fresh air.
Think magnificent coastlines, laid-back vibes, the iconic Fisher Girl statue, and an endless array of amazing seafood. With a warm, pleasant climate and plenty of year-round sunshine ☀️, Zhuhai is my absolute go-to spot to lift my spirits when city life in HK gets a bit too overwhelming.
Whenever friends ask me about planning a trip, my very first piece of advice always revolves around understanding the Zhuhai weather. Getting a grip on the local climate is the secret to packing right and making the most of your trip.
Decoding the Zhuhai Weather: A Month-by-Month Guide

Like Hong Kong, Zhuhai enjoys a subtropical maritime climate with four distinct seasons. But depending on whether you're chilling by the coast or exploring the inner city, the breeze can make it feel quite different. Here is how I usually break it down:
- Spring 🌸 (March to May): Easily one of my favorite times to visit. Average temperatures range from 18°C to 24°C. The floral blooms along Lovers' Road are gorgeous right now—I was just there earlier this May!
- Summer ☀️ (June to August): Let's be real, it’s undeniably hot and humid, averaging 28°C to 32°C. You’re going to sweat. But it’s also the peak time to hit the beach, splash around, or dodge the heat in massive air-conditioned spots like the newly popular Chimelong Spaceship.
- Autumn 🍂 (September to November): Absolute prime time. The sticky heat finally breaks, leaving us with crisp, comfortable 24°C to 28°C days. I always book a weekend around October to just chill by the coast without melting.
- Winter ❄️ (December to February): On the cooler, drier side, sitting comfortably around 14°C to 20°C. Just throw on a light jacket or windbreaker and you're good to go. You definitely won't need your heavy winter coats here!

Zhuhai Weather | Experiencing the Seasons on the Ground
Spring Vibes on Qi'ao Island
Spring in Zhuhai brings average temps of 18°C to 24°C, which is wonderfully comfortable. When I strolled through Qi'ao Island recently, the gentle sea breeze was simply perfection. However, humidity does creep up to 70%-80%, so the air can feel a bit damp.
Rainfall is moderate, but as a seasoned traveller, I always keep a compact umbrella in my bag. It's the perfect season for outdoor hiking or catching local music events.

Summer Survival at Seaside Park
Let’s be real about summer. From June through August, Zhuhai weather means persistently high temperatures and heavy humidity. It’s also typhoon season, with average precipitation hitting over 300mm per month.
My survival tip? Wear light linen, slap on plenty of sunscreen, and stay hydrated. But it's also the best time for beach vibes. And if a sudden afternoon thunderstorm hits, ducking into the world's largest indoor theme park, Chimelong Spaceship, is the ultimate 2026 travel hack.

Autumn Romance on Wanshan Island
Autumn is, hands down, the golden season to visit. The sticky summer heat finally breaks, leaving us with crisp, comfortable 24°C to 28°C days. It's significantly drier, too. I love visiting the offshore islands like Wanshan during this time; the sky is a brilliant blue, and the seafood is incredibly fresh. Pack a light sweater for the evening, and you're perfectly set.

Winter Escapes at the Hot Springs
Winter is quite mild here, mostly hovering around 15°C to 20°C. We don't get the bitter cold of the north. It’s also the driest season. I spent a weekend at the Ocean Spring Resort last January, and soaking in the thermal waters while the air was just a little chilly was pure bliss.

2026 Transport Hacks: How to Get from Hong Kong to Zhuhai
Getting from Hong Kong to Zhuhai has never been easier. We've got so many options now in 2026, and here’s my honest take on how to make the crossing:
- HZMB Shuttle (The Golden Bus): My absolute go-to for a budget run. It takes about 40–50 minutes across the bridge. It’s super affordable (around HKD 65) and runs 24/7, but remember to factor in the extra transit time to get to the HK Port and clear immigration.
- Direct Cross-Border Bus: Seriously hassle-free. Operators like Trans-Island Chinalink or CTS pick you up right from the heart of HK (like Prince Edward or Causeway Bay) and drop you directly at Zhuhai Chimelong or downtown. It takes about 2 hours total—perfect if you just want to sit back and nap.
- Passenger Ferry: Still a classic! Taking a TurboJET or Chu Kong Passenger Transport ferry from Sheung Wan or China Ferry Terminal to Jiuzhou Port takes about 70-90 minutes. Fares are a bit higher, but you get spacious seating, beautiful sea views, and zero traffic jams.
- Private Car Charter: If you're traveling with a group of friends or doing a family trip with heavy luggage, booking a private cross-border car is top-tier. Highly private and takes about an hour, though it is the priciest option.
- High-Speed Rail: While you can take the train from West Kowloon, going to Zhuhai usually means transferring at Shenzhen North or Guangzhou South. Honestly, unless you're combining it with a wider mainland tour, I'd stick to the bridge or the ferry!
Exploring the Popular Districts
- Xiangzhou District: The bustling heart of Zhuhai. With average annual temps sitting around 22°C–26°C, it's home to the iconic Lovers' Road and Yeli Island.
- Hengqin Island: Currently the absolute hotspot for 2026! Located right next to Macau, this is where you'll find the massive Chimelong Ocean Kingdom and the futuristic Chimelong Spaceship park.
- Doumen District: Rich in history and cultural heritage. It's a bit warmer and humid, but fantastic for exploring ancient streets and authentic local snacks.
- Jinwan District: Blessed with an exceptional natural environment. Think beautiful bays and the impressive Zhuhai Space Center. Perfect for both water sports and aviation enthusiasts.
No Time Difference, No Worries
Just a quick reminder for my fellow Hong Kongers: there’s absolutely zero time difference between Zhuhai and HK. Both run on China Standard Time (UTC+8), so there is no need to mess with your watches or phone settings.
