Absolute gem, in a beautiful, quiet, scenic location, this place is everything you would want for a peaceful stay, close to many hot spot places, 5 mins drive into Chichester town centre but away from it all, quaint, friendly, cosy and very welcoming place. Highly recommend staying in the ‘family room’ which is actually a complete cottage ‘flint cottage’ which is so cosy and the bed is amazing, the place is warm, and has everything you need to enjoy your stay. Food delicious as well. Another stay in the future almost guaranteed.

Absolutely delicious and beautiful seasonal local produce cooked to perfection, with a relaxed atmosphere with friendly and engaging staff. What an absolutely beautiful little place the Royal Oak is a true reflection of the best of British .

A fantastic return visit with family to celebrate a birthday. Great food, great friendly service. Compliments from all of us to the staff. We will be planning our next visit soon. The accommodation looks really nice on the website, so possibly a weekend with you next time!

Lovely atmosphere; smartened-up traditional without spoiling it. Really interesting menu. You don't see warm pigeon breast salad very often. Attentive staff. Good beer. I really like this place. And, as if it were needed, in a lovely village with a chalk stream running by the cricket pitch!

Stayed here twice now, two different rooms both spacious, the back cottage with nice views and a more modern feeling room (under flooring heating in the bathroom a great touch/smart TV/touch bath/shower), Great place with amazing staff. Breakfast was lovely and filling. We will be back

Visiting the Weald and Dowland Museum. Good location for the museum and Goodwood. Quiet, away from roads. Very pretty village. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was out back in a stand alone outbuilding. Views onto fields. Bedroom is small but comfortable. Bathroom modern with every amenity. Great for people with dogs. Restaurant is great, old world charm.

Very friendly and welcoming. Room warm and inviting. Breakfast too late for us so we were provided with a breakfast tray for our room. Would recommend.

Arrived late due to travelling all day, only to be informed that the kitchen was closed and no food was being served on site. I was offered options locally or via delivery apps (30-45 mins delivery times). After a long day, the last thing I wanted to do was go out again looking for food and delivery options meant I would be eating far to late to sleep comfortably.

Despite having our booking confirmed we arrived at the hotel to find it closed . Informed by a young man who turned up to do a job there that the hotel was always closed on a Monday and Tuesday. With his help we were able to find alternative accommodation . Checked availabity today for next Monday and Tuesday. Informed that there was a room available , no mention of them being closed on those days .

Room very clean and tidy. Large bathroom. Very comfortable bed. We had dinner and breakfast. The food is amazing - a very high standard!

Stayed here due to proximity to Goodward aerodrome. Had good reviews and we totally agree with them. The room was nice, clean and had all we needed. The pub has a good old fashioned setting, our food was lovely, service great, staff attentive, prices reasonable. Steak cooked perfectly, humous starter was great and the biscoff doughnuts were amazing!!! The breakfast next morning was good too. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

Kitchen wasn’t open but it didn’t matter. Staff were lovely and so was the accommodation

Stayed here for a weekend break , part of the Butcombe brewery group and we will certainly look to stay in others within their group based on our experience here . It was last minute and we struggled to find anywhere until we found here by chance and very glad we did. Had our dog with us and we were in a little self catering cottage “over the road “ , which we loved , even had a little garden. Hotel itself was great, nice bar and dining area a different outside areas…..good menu selections , and all well presented and good value ……lovely breakfast in the morning and will see you again !
