One of the most friendliest places we have ever stayed in our motorhome. £10 a night for an electric hook up and the nicest bar staff ever. Made my wife, dog and I feel so welcome and we will be back! Great selection of drinks and dog friendly is always a bonus!

Dont miss this town on your Scotland tour. Beautiful old town in the middle of nowhere. Dead quiet---like you are back in the 1800s---hotel is wonderful---food out of this world--people so friendly---make the trip to Leadhills for a night or two !!

A warm welcome from all the staff. The attic room was a great size as was the spotless ensuite and the beds were very comfy. The Evening meal was outstanding (especially the steak pie) as was the breakfast. Great bar and good craic with the locals.

Wonderful place to stay on our way around Scotland. Very friendly people, lovely atmosphere. we both had a steak pie in the bar and it was great, and a good breakfast the next day. Our room was huge and very comfortable. We would definitely stay again if we were in the area.

Lovely hotel that has kept the traditional feel of a Scottish inn. The room was large & comfortable & the bathroom was enormous! Very comfy bed. My only problem was that the mirror was too high and I know I’m small but I had to stand on a chair to see to do my hair & then the hairdryer cord was too short! Minor issue & made us laugh! Lovely place to stay & would def’ go back. We used it as a stop over on the way down through Scotland.

We had a lovely stay at The Hopetoun Arms. It was friendly, cosy and very peaceful. Our room was very comfortable with a big shower room adjacent. Being able to have dinner in the hotel made our stay even easier. Breakfast was delicious and set us up for the day.

Warmest of welcomes by lovely staff member that was echoed when met Husband and Wife owners and bar staff. Food gorgeous and bar area lovely to relax and chat with locals in front of the toasty fire. Wee village shop next door with real character shop keeper who stocks everything! Our room was number 1 on the first floor with garden view. Very spacious with separate hallway that has tea/coffee facilities and room to hang coats and store luggage and shoes. Really big shower room and lovely room with very bouncy comfy beds. Nice and toasty with radiators on or cool with easily opened sash and case or velux windows. Breakfast superb and big choice to please everyone. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back! Just back from a lovely couple of days, hotel was spotless and the food was great. We took our Dog and was the most spoilt dog ever! The Staff are fantastic and go above and beyond, will definitely be back.

It’s the second time we have stayed here, and both times we have received a warm welcome, an even warmer fire, great breakfast and dinner. Large room and comfortable bed. It really is a bolt hole hidden in the hills. Beautiful scenery and interesting history.

The people at this place are amazing! So friendly and helpful, we had a minor (nearly major) incident. I'm sorry I didn't catch the guys name, but he sorted the issue within minutes with some help from some guys who were there doing some work. Thank you all of you, fantastic community spirit, thank you so very much, will definitely be back on our return journey if you'll have us.

Lovely hotel. Room v clean and warm. Staff took the time to talk to me and make me feel welcome. I was travelling alone. Food v good too. Only one negative was the mattresses in room one. Definitely need replacing far too soft and bent in in the middle. This is easily rectifiable. Could be my personal taste though. Room was very nice. Would definitely stay here again.

broke our journey on way to oban for one night nice room .lovely staff special mention for the morning staff couldnt do enough breakfast was excellent only thing for us we were at the top so had to hump the luggage up

We stayed in our campervan , found the hotel on Search for Sites. Welcomed by a lovely lady and shown to car park behind the hotel, pitched with electric hookup. Enjoyed a lovely meal in dog friendly bar. Excellent food. Well stocked shop next door. Was a wild wet night but we were fine in van. Walked round the wee very interesting mining village in the morning. Excellent motorhome stopover.

On arrival I was escorted to my room and was totally amazed at how nice the room was. Then I saw the bathroom and was blown away. I said that it’s a bit cold and within 10 minutes it was lovely and cosy. The only negative point I can make is the car park. There is no short cut to the hotel you have to walk all the way round.
