What a pity that Hipping Hall is closing this weekend, apparently not making any money which, judging from the occupancy rate, might well be true. However, best wishes and good luck to all the enthusiastic and friendly staff who are losing their jobs this weekend. I do hope that the owner will reflect on why this beautiful place has to close. The food was still very good and they served the best 'full English' I have had for a very long time. Perhaps it was the softer issues like the welcome, the quality of the older rooms in the house, the administration and certainly the attitude that led to the decision to remove the Sunday night special offer for the last few weeks of trading!

A wonderful 2 night stay with incredible food and peaceful surroundings. Such a shame it’s closing. So glad we got to experience this. Everything was perfect and it’s sad to think we can never go again. Both tasting menus each night were faultless.

Very sad that Hipping Hall is closing so we booked one last stay. The food is superb - we had the 4 course meal - and this was our 5th stay in 5 years. We feel this place is very special for us so we're really going to miss it. Best wishes for the future to all the lovely staff.

What a well kept secret this place is: stopped Friday and Saturday on their 2 night tasty offer …….and what surprises me so much was that the dining room had 4 couples in for Friday and 2 for Saturday night……AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHY……the food and wine was wonderful. I’ve eaten in many places, and usually opt for the matching wine route: the meal last night (Friday) was an amazing experience…..and the wines superb. Service from the small team was flawless: Georgina and Robert are stars……engaging, friendly, knowledgeable stars. Rooms are really nice and the gardens are stunning (whoever looks after the gardens is very talented and hard working). I highly recommend this place…..mystified why it isn’t jam packed.

We don't normally do tasting menus and tend to avoid this sort of hotel/ restaurant out of a sense of interested snobbery. We received a generous voucher as a birthday present and went with no particular enthusiasm Am pleased to report that our two days were absolutely excellent, food and staff brilliant and our room was lovely. Not cheap, obviously, but a great experience. Most guests were in the 40 -60 age group ( unsurprisingly) , several with dogs and all were very good company Not the type of break I would do too regularly, but really enjoyable

From the warm welcome from our hostess Georgina, the attentiveness of our sommelier Robert to the divine tasting menu created by Peter & Tom, we experienced a very special lunch recently. Everything was glorious... the surprise little snacks were unexpected, tasty & left us wanting more! the 4 course tasting menu (or 6 if you prefer) offered unexpected & unusual combinations & all were beautifully presented. All in all, Hipping Hall is just as impressive as its sister hotel & Michelin starred Forest Side. Watch this space...😍😍

We're really big foodies. When looking for wedding venues we just knew that quality food had to feature highly on our must-haves. The moment we drove into the grounds we knew it was the place for us. Smaller than a lot of wedding venues, this meant it is immaculately well kept and allowed us to have an intimate wedding venue with beautiful food and views of surrounding countryside. The grounds are beautifully kept all year round, the house is also stunningly looked after. We booked our wedding in 2018 for 2020. Covid forced us to delay twice, until 2022. The staff were truely awesome the entire time. there was always someone to talk to if you needed them and no question was too small. George, the general manager, Lauren, the wedding coordinator, Robert, the sommelier, and the entire team were honestly fantastic and faultless. On our wedding day nothing was so much as out of line. we did nothing other than turn up and be ushered around. The staff seamlessly dressed rooms, made sure everyone was where they were meant to be, and the kitchen staff produced outstanding food while catering to a wide variety of allergies and intolerances. We had the absolute best day and can't wait to go back.

Hipping hall is a self described restaurant with rooms, the room was fine but the restaurant on which it bases its reputation less so. I can understand why many are impressed by food presented as a art installation but all four courses we had were forgettable apart for an overwhelming flavour of aniseed presumably from their obsession with sprinkling pretty flowers over everything. The duck was a tiny brick of something chewy, the sardine didn’t taste of fish and was coated with a coloured liquid poured by a chef as if it was holy oil, venison that had to be sawed and every course took an age to arrive even though so much of it could be pre prepared. We got bored and left before our micro desert. I actually went to bed hungry like a Victorian waif. I’m probably the only person in the dining room who felt underwhelmed by an experience that the chef must have thought I should be honoured to have had. Maybe I just missed the whole point in wanting a proper meal rather than art. It was all very expensive with bar prices that were barely sane. Breakfast was better though, you don’t need to sprinkle pretty flowers over a sausage.

If you are looking for a special meal, something different, in this area, then HIPPING HALL is the place. We had the 4 course menu - plus nibbles and cheese and their magnificent bread. The whole menu was wonderfully judged, each course very individual and delicious and while relatively small portions, this menu was more than enough for us. Robert, the sommelier, had put together a truly superb wine selection to go with the food - I agree with previous reviewer, trust his judgement. Cost - 2 x 4 course menus plus pre-dinner drinks and 1 x wine selection with their included gratuity - #236. Far from cheap but very good value for food, wine, service and location of this high a standard. Overall 5 stars and I really look forward to returning soon.
