白鹿酒店(The White Hart)

We had a lovely 2 night stay here, really nice room with tea coffee & biscuits, very spacious bathroom with good storage space. It’s a great olde worlde pub with lots of atmosphere & a nice outdoor seating area too & only 10 minutes drive from Henley on Thames. The food was very good, home cooked with a great choice, breakfast was excellent, hot & tasty, couldn’t fault it at all. The staff were all very friendly & welcoming, always smiling. We would like to say thank you to Rachel for her great hospitality and a very special thank you to Jeremiah who from checking us in when we arrived couldn’t do enough to help & advise us. He really went above & beyond. Overall a very enjoyable stay, would highly recommend staying here.

We can only give 2* rating for our stay. 1 for location and 1 for the breakfast. Due to the pub / hotel being located on a busy main road and the room we stayed in being positioned at the front, the noise of the road was horrendous!! The room was stifling as the room we had was south facing and because the blinds hadn’t been pulled sleeping in that heat was horrendous. Unfortunately we will not be going back. The only positive was that it was located very close to Henley.

Great place for a short stay, friendly efficient staff, good menu in the restaurant and very reasonable prices. Handy for exploring the surrounding countryside and visiting places like Henley and Marlow on the Thames.

This is a funny place. It’s really trying to be up market, but missing the mark on the fundamentals. The decor is definitely shabby and in need of a refresh, the wifi is not reliable at all (despite us apparently being in a room just below a router), we had to run the water for 10-15 minutes to get a hot shower, but the water pressure was so low you then had to dance around in it to catch the mist. The blind in our room didn’t work properly and it got very damp in the room. I presume it’s not a new thing given the state of the bit of fabric on the door, which are badly stained and a less than delightful welcome to the room. At over £100 per night I definitely expect something much better than this.

I have stayed here before, several years ago in one of the outbuildings and enjoyed it. Unfortunately this time was very disappointing. Our room was in the main building, above the restaurant and looking over a noisy main road. It was accessed via scruffy staircase, floor littered with plaster and masonry that had fallen off the wall. The room itself was ok but decor was a bit shabby, and it was very warm. When we opened the windows we were disturbed by noisy traffic and motorbikes. The bathroom had little ventilation, black mould appearing and water spilled out of shower as the screen was quite short. In the morning (Sunday) the restaurant started playing music directly beneath our room before 8am which added to the disturbance from outside. The breakfast was fine but other guests all seemed to have overcooked eggs. The coffee machine constantly kept malfunctioning. The staff at least were very friendly.

Lovely hotel, friendly helpful staff, especially Jeremiah! Very comfortable room with everything we needed. Great food.
