哈姆雷特丘陵地區住宿(Hamlet Downs Country Accommodation)

It's a beautiful spot and Steve and Trish were marvellous hosts. Trish is an award winning cook, so our top tip is not to worry about driving 50km or so for breakfast and dinner, because what Trish cooks will be better than anything you can buy elsewhere. Our room was comfortably furnished and spacious. If we manage to get back to spend a bit more time in Tasmania we'll certainly try to fit in another couple of nights at Hamlet Downs. Give our love to the platypus (whether he exists or not) and to Beryl, Cheryl and Meryl.

Our 2 nights at the gorgeous Hamlet Downs seemed to draw to a close too quickly. It was such a warm, welcoming and delightful stop as we explore Tassie. Trish and Steve are the consummate hosts - around when you need them, invisible when you don’t. And the farm is really special and Steve loves showing it off. Trish’s cooking is something else. We had a sumptuous Burmese feast that awas a highlight of the trip. But also purchased a bunch of their farm-made sauces, relishes and smallgoods. Don’t miss Hamlet Downs if you are near to the Derwent Valley. It’s a unique and special place run by two very special people.

We have stayed at Hamlet Downs 3 times over the last 18 months. We keep coming back for the relaxation, fantastic food, peaceful surroundings and great proximity to Mt Field National Park, Maydena, the Mt Eliza / Mt Anne walk and Lake Pedder. Steve and Trish have been wonderful hosts and they make us feel at home. Their working farm has a great short walk to take in the views, check out the farm animals and see the wildlife, including Percy the platypus in their dam. Trish’s cooking and smallgoods are delicious, made mostly with local produce. Her Burmese inspired dishes are especially tasty, as are the traditional slow-cooked favourites like lamb shanks. We will certainly be returning to Hamlet Downs.

This lovely country style accommodation is located on a working farm which is currently producing prize-winning pork products. We enjoyed Steve’s tour of the property, interactions with the stock, and the wonderful views. Our unit was self-contained, comfortable and private, and I definitely recommend you order some of Trish’s fabulous and well-priced gourmet meals, which are among the very best in Tasmania! Trish and Steve’s warm, friendly hospitality made our stay a pleasure. Hamlet Downs is an excellent base for Mount Field National Park (Russell Falls) and the Styx Tall Trees Conservation Area (if you’re up for a drive with lots of potholes).

What a magnificent place to visit ,so serene and clean. The food and company were second to none. A small piece of history I would highly recommend to put this one on your bucket list. Beautiful scenery as you climb their mountain and look back to view the summit of Mt Wellington and on a clear day it is awesome to say the least! Cuffy

Wow what a great stay we had . This place is amazing . Very lovely hosts d hostess . They cool the meals and I thought for sure it came from a 5 star restaurant. What an experience . No noises close by , dark curtained rooms so a sleep in is automatic . Wouldn’t have Evan known other rooms were occupied . Farm walks and a visit up the hill for a lookout with animals nearby . Back to the food a taste sensation , we didn’t need to dine else where . We will definitely be back annually. Other than a night out at “ the old bush Inn” and the “National park Hotel “ your stay will be worth a weekend stay away from your regular life as your touring Tasmania

Attentive hosts in beautiful setting. Very comfortable accommodation and great locally sourced food. We shall return. The National Park is only a few minutes away with wonderful walks, spectacular scenery and well maintained.

Hamlet downs blew us away with its beauty on arrival and the homestead had such a heartwarming feel and was lovely and clean. We loved meeting all the animals and checking out the fruit orchid. Steve and Trish are a genuine, down to earth couple who go out of their way to make sure you feel welcome and enjoy their piece of paradise. 💚 We would 💯 recommend Hamlet downs, our only regret is we didn’t stay longer, next time!

What a slice of country paradise! We loved our stay at Hamlet Downs with the gorgeous Trish and Steve. Started with a ride up to Hogs Hill for Sundowners and followed by an amazing Burmese dinner banquet. Wonderful accommodation and incredible views. Thanks Trish and Steve! We’ll be back!
