Many thanks to the hotel! Me and my boyfriend travel a lot around the world and stay in hotels like this a lot. None of them were as attentive and warm as this one! The feeling when you walk through the door and see this incredible beautiful view and atmosphere in front of you was absolut beautiful. Our room was perfect-very clean, the food was very good so we ate there every day and the outdoor area was great as well. Also a big compliment to the staff! They were always courteous and always with a smile on their faces. The whole exterior was wonderful but for us it was the little details and gestures that made everything perfect. Questo è stato il nostro migliore soggiorno in Sri Lanka. Tutto al Sandhya è assolutamente perfetto. Accoglienza del personale sempre disponibile e attento ad ogni esigenza. Le camere sono di un livello superiore. Biancheria di alta qualità , tanti piccoli dettagli pensati per il confort del cliente degni di un hotel di lusso. Abbiamo amato la doccia doppia con acqua sempre calda (cosa molto rara in sri Lanka) e la cromoterapia. Tutte le camere hanno una vista sull’oceano meravigliosa da cui si vedono due spot di surf e la sera ci si può godere il tramonto dalla propria stanza. La colazione è deliziosa e servita con grande stile. La hall è un capolavoro di architettura e il giardino con lettini di fronte alla spiaggia è perfetto per rilassarsi e leggere un libro. A questo posto che mi è rimasto nel cuore do il massimo dei voti e, alla mia quarta esperienza in sri Lanka, lo considero l’hotel migliore del paese. Unico consiglio da dare: sarebbe fantastico avere un piccolo frigo nelle camere e dei servizi per thè/caffè in camera.

Вообще я никогда не писала отзывы, но в этом случае просто обязана это сделать!!! Останавливались в этом отеле на 3 ночи. Что я могу сказать: в самых лучших отелях мира я не встречала такой искренней заботы и любви! Прекрасный камерный отель на первой линии с современным интерьером. Просторные номера, все с видом на океан. Еда в отеле выше всяких похвал. Шеф-повар отменно готовит! Сервис фактически 24 часа, любое пожелание! Персонал очень заботливый и внимательный! Выражаю огромную благодарность персоналу отеля!

In all my days of global travel staying at some of the finest hotels in the world has a hotel canceled my reservation. The reason given was that they only want happy guests and as you will see below I had some reservations leading up to this altercation.The determined that I was not going to be a "Happy Guest" and they only want happy guests. I had been greatly looking forward to staying here as the hotel is very beautiful and contemporary. Located right on the beach the location was perfect. I booked this hotel a few moths ago prior to arranging my flights. Understand here that Sri Lanka is not the easiest place to get to. I had gone out of my way to support Sri Lanka as it slowly emerges from the pandemic and the scourge of financial mismanagement. Some background here. The attempted to charge my credit card as per our agreement and there were a number of issues at my end. My bank thought there was possible fraud and so declined the charge a few days passed as I was travelling I then had them manually put through the charge. In the meantime I noticed on the website that the premier suite in the hotel was being offered at the same rate as I was paying for the smaller room. It was showing on *********** at a discount of 40%. I said that I was interested in taking advantage of this. This offer was priced in C$ on the website. The hotel went and charged my credit card that amount in USD. When I pointed out the error they flatly stated that this was not a valid rate and was an error on the part of ***********. They refunded the difference and reverted back to my original room. Flatly refusing to honour the posted rate or the upgraded room. I pointed this out and without further ado they cxld my booking saying that I was going to be a problem and they wanted nothing further to do with me. I am out the difference in the exchange rate. Ona side note I am still travelling to Sri Lanka staying close by and am looking forward in spite of this to a long awaited visit.

In that offer, we thanked you for being one of our earliest booker for the season and for supporting the country. We are certain in all your years of travels, that very few hotels would have offered you such a generous and unsolicited gesture. Your credit card was invalid four times. We asked repeatedly for an updated credit card. When you did finally provide a valid credit card number just 3 weeks prior to your check-in, you instructed us not to charge it for yet another day (even though your payment was already past due by 8 days). Each email from you was titled “URGENT” - we obliged. In the meanwhile, you took that opportunity to re-negotiate your rate. We did indeed have a flash sale but it did not cover the period of your stay. In addition and very importantly, you were not entitled to change your booking under the terms of ***********. Even if there was a special offer (which there wasn’t), you would not have been able to change your booking per the terms of ***********. With that same reasoning, had our rates gone up in the meantime (which is a likely scenario when our hotel is close to full house), we would not expect you to pay more. This is simply double standards on your part. We certainly did not blame our close partner *********** for anything. You simply wanted a better deal and we were trying to be subtle about it in our reply to you. We never talked or communicated with you (or any of our guests for that matter) in a “flat” manner. We explained everything in detail and apologized repeatedly even though we could not understand the justification of your demands. We had even offered an exceptional rate for the suite when we were unable to identify the rate you had demanded. It was your emails that were curt, offensive and demanding. Not ours. When you didn’t get your way, your final email to us was downright negative and petulant. After a multitude of emails apologising to you and trying to placate your demands, enough was enough. You are right - we really do wish for guests to be happy. We didn’t see fit to have you stay with us. You were clearly not happy and we didn’t want you to be so on our property. We gave you a full refund without any penalty despite your holding that room for over 3 months without a valid credit card. Your foreign exchange gripe is solely your individual matter as we only deal in USD. This has always been the case since the start and with all our honoured guests. With this unfair and inaccurate “review”, we are glad we made that difficult decision to unwelcome you.

You were punished by your own credit card company, American Express, for trying to avoid paying forfeited room charges through reporting such charges as fraudulent. As you had initiated these fraudulent claims against us to American Express, we had no choice but to submit proof upon their request to protect our own credibility. After we provided undisputed and overwhelmingly clear proof that you had booked (during the busiest time of the year), emailed us with many requests/queries/demands (which we replied to) then simply not turn up, you were found to be guilty of lying. Whilst we never wanted to cause humiliation to anyone, this was brought upon by yourself. You thought you would get away with your dirty little trick but was caught by your own credit card company American Express. Why take it out on us? You started it. We emailed you many times when you did not show up and another 2 times after we received your fraudulent claim via American Express. However, you did not reply. You have asked your friends and created numerous accounts (15 to be exact) on Google to smear our reputation on numerous public forums. These are not the actions of an innocent person but rather one who is mean-spirited, embarrassed, hateful and dishonest. You should have just replied, and you would almost definitely not be this angry little man that you are today. We had even offered credit but you just did not reply. Take a deep breath, cool down and please have a think about your actions. we have stayed at the Sandhya hotel for the second time and we will be back …its a great stylish small hotel (9 rooms) in a great beachfront location. we love the moden and well designed exterior/interior its all spot on, rooms/restaurant, new large pool and nice sunbeds…food quality is excellent, service is great , staff is very nice and well trained, we are looking forward to our next stay in „The Sandhya“

The Sandhya must be the most stunning hotel I have ever stayed in. Fronted right on the beach, the stage is set for a stunning vista, an infinity pool and a row of beach beds and umbrellas hug the Indian Ocean only to be interrupted by the odd fisherman or surfer. The bedrooms and ensuites are a continuation of the theme, allowing for maximum, light, beach and dreaminess. The food was great and so was the late night fun with the board games and late swims. The only problem with the Sandhya is that you don’t want to leave.

The location of the Sandhya hotel is perfect. It's right on the ocean front! From our room (#4) we had a beautiful full view of the Indian Ocean and a one minute walk, if you are taking your time, to the wide open sandy beach! Sunsets are magical and the night sky is full of stars. The staff could not be nicer or more accommodating and the food is really outstanding! The stylish, fully air conditioned rooms have high speed internet connectivity in case you want to stream movie! We had a fabulous dinner outside, with cool ocean breezes and signature cocktails! Dinner was out-of-this World delicious! Sri Lankan rice with seven different curries and perfectly prepared chicken and fresh caught fish! Paired with a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc from Australia we could not be more happy or satisfied. I rate our time there as an A+.

Very welcoming staff. Inventive and delicious food options. Unique architectural design and styling. We are repeat guests and have loved every one of our stays without question. The owner has recently installed a new pool which has to be one of the best pools going. All in all, a very well managed and run hotel!

We had an excellent stay here - Nuradha and team took great care of us. We were there for my wife's birthday, and they were kind enough to upgrade us to the suite. The facilities, room and common area are brilliantly designed and the proximity to the sea is a huge bonus. Would highly recommend this place for a couple!

We stayed in this beautiful hotel for 2 weeks. What a beautiful place to relax. The hotel is perfectly located on Kabalana Beach, stylish, extremely clean. The entire team of the hotel was more than attentive, a perfect and incredibly friendly service. You can see that it is an owner-managed boutique hotel. Even the smallest details are very consistent, the motivation to offer guests a great stay extremely high. Thank you for this wonderful time, keep up the good work and stay healthy! 🌸

The Sandhya embodies elegance and refined luxury reimagined for Sri Lanka's stunning south coast. Nestled towards the (quiet) end of the stunning Kabalana Beach, The Sandhya is the crown jewel in Ahangama's burgeoning hotel and tourism scene. From smiling security and housekeeping to the excellent service team led by Taranja, the staff are unbelievably friendly, professional, and attentive in all the right ways. The food and cocktail menu are a culinary tour de force. Try the tuna tataki (ideally washed down with signature cocktails such as Sand & Sun or Gold Dust), it is literally my favourite meal in the world. The Sandhya delivers six-star-level confort, world-class design (wait until you see the iconic floating staircase) and landscaping, and high-end interior and amenity elements. No expense has been spared in ensuring their guests' receive an unmatched customer experience. Crucially, I don't say any of this based on one visit. I've stayed at The Sandhya around a dozen times over 5-6 years and the standards never slip, if anything they improve every year. If you can swing it, try out the Director's Suite - it is a genuine triumph in every way imagineable! Overall, the Sandhya is simply unmatched. It is a must-stay property if you're heading to Ahangama, which you should be! Oh, and the no kids policy may not be for everyone but it's a hit for me!

There is something mystical about The Sandhya from the moment of arrival. The paradox of the imposing yet inviting, luxurious yet natural entrance makes you gasp and grin with expectation before you even step into the elegant interior. There are local touches everywhere...subtle but prevalent, all the same. The smiling welcome when the gate slides back to give access to your Tuk Tuk or your airport transfer; the shoes carefully lined up on the side of the stairs; the aromas and the gifts on the reception desk, the wooden key rings and the leather accessories. You know you need to check-in but you're too busy wondering when you will have time to photograph all the magnificently designed angles. More paradox...minimal, clean, symmetrical with modern-inspired furniture straight out of a magazine feature but cosy, warm, natural materials exuding comfort and that feeling of home at the same time. The boutique hotel's signature staircase allows the floor-to-ceiling windows space to breathe, and the stunning view is constant: day or night. Breathtaking! The concept is easy and simple but remarkable. It's a nine-room home with a lovely team there to make your stay unforgettable. But do they feel like staff waiting on you hand and foot? That would be too stifling, no. They are always there when you need them but this is more like being in a shared villa with friends (who you don't have to see if you decide you want your privacy). Open kitchen, honesty bar, a fabulous breakfast menu, lunch and dinner, board games, reading material, coffee-table books, a pool and garden, but - more importantly - a quiet corner of Kabalana beach, just metres from the azure waters and the waves. It's heavenly! The music, the daily fresh juices and fruit, the surf lessons (should you opt for some), the stretch of sandy beach, the access to everything else on your to-do list, the shared dinner or gatherings if you are fortunate enough to be there on a special occasion (like New Year's Eve with bubbles and fireworks) are carefully curated to make sure you build some unforgettable memories. You could be perched on the bar having a drink with the owner, running along the sand by sunrise, or lying on your sunbed chatting to a couple about their honeymoon. And, if you're alone, you will feel totally at ease doing your own thing in the lounge area or the dining room, tapping away at your laptop or reading your book, safe in the knowledge that someone is always around if you fancy a bite to eat or a refreshment, a massage, some tips on activities in the area or help planning your stay...and wherever you are in the hotel, you are always overlooking the garden and the sea. Magical! The Sandhya is a boutique hotel with a difference. It didn't feel like being in a hotel at all, but it had all the trimmings of a luxury resort. What a gorgeous resort. My wife and I booked for seven nights and we could’ve stayed for another 7 in a heart beat If we had the time. Accommodating staff that were there for every wish annd whim. This place exudes style and Grace . Gorgeous fixtures and fittings, Lighting details, sound system that allow us to play Spotify through the night as we celebrated our first anniversary. shimmering blue waters for swimming in front a famous surf break to the right… we couldn’t ask for more.
