My husband, Robert & I just returned from our 4th visit to HAC ~ another fantastic stay in beautiful Akumal. The welcoming smiles when we check in after the long day of travel can only mean, ”Welcome Home” ~ we stayed in 417 with it's lovely view of the pool area & the sounds of the birds & the sea. Our room was maintained by a very nice lady & gentleman ~ always smiling & greeting us with ”Hola, Buenos Dias” what a wonderful way to start our day. Speaking of starting our day, nothing beats a breakfast @ The Lolha ~ big ups to the Waitstaff (Juan & Gregorio) & the gentleman preparing our delicious breakfasts ~ The Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese Bagel was out of this world, knew I should have ordered it twice (next time) ~ the food presentation is top notch. Again, we figured on trying some new places, didn't happen ~ not when you have the Lolha's extensive menu right there ~ yes, we ate good & drank good, too!! Have to give credit to the guys who took such great care of us there ~ so thank you Oscar, Ernesto (Ernie), Alberto (Bert), Willy, Fernando, Arturo (Artie) & the rest of the crew. Would like to mention our missing Rafa, who we toasted to every evening with a shot of Correlejo & know he was looking down with a smile. This trip we had the opportunity to meet Laura Wolfe, a very gracious lady who takes such pride in her establishment & staff. Thank you again Hotel Akumal Caribe & The Lolha for another successful trip ~ look forward to our return next Spring!! Patricia Rinka
Some places that are set up like this cute place are just a small private zoo and not a rescue at all. And although we did not see animals being released after rehibilitatiin, we heard the successes and failures. We could also see the physical anomalies that caused the animals to be rescued in the first place. We really enjoyed interacting with the animals and learning a bit about their species. A very nice place to see while in the area
Our stay at Unico Hotel was absolutely incredible! The beauty of the resort took our breath away, with stunning views and gorgeous decor. The food was phenomenal—each meal was a delightful culinary experience. The staff was amazing—friendly, attentive, and always ready to go the extra mile to ensure we had a perfect experience. Can't wait to return! We felt incredibly lucky to have Carlos and Javier as our butlers at Unico; their hard work and dedication truly made our trip special, ensuring every moment was memorable and tailored to our needs! Chef Angela at Cueva Siete is truly the best of the best, crafting unforgettable flavors with every dish that embodies both tradition and innovation. Irving, the manager at Mi Carisa, was fantastic—his warm hospitality and attention to detail made our experience truly memorable. Chacón at Unico is a very busy man, but he went out of his way to make our honeymoon unforgettable, proving he's the best at ensuring the resort runs smoothly and that every guest feels celebrated. With how amazing this trip was and with the amazing staff it was hard to say goodbye and leave everyone. We will definitely be back!
Amazing holiday. We travelled here for our 20th Anniversary and were very pleased with our stay. Beach location was great and the grounds of the hotel were great and well maintained by the gardeners to the guys who do an incredible job of clearing the seaweed out of the sea. All the staff are so friendly and nothing is too much of a problem for them. Lots of animals around the grounds which was cool raccoons, coatis, iguanas, lizards, capybara, fish in the sea etc…Reading the reviews before we went we thought mosquitoes might be a problem but I wasn’t bitten once and my wife only a couple of times. Food was great, lots of choice with a range of different restaurants. Only downsides to the restaurants were either having to book certain ones, or others were first come first served so there was a wait to get in if they were full. The buffet restaurant wasn’t open every night which may have made it better for nights where we just wanted to get a quick something to eat. There was also the option of room service as well so it was fine and we were well fed every night. The Buffett restaurant options were smaller compared to other hotels we’ve stayed at but there was enough choice for us and loads of options. We did a couple of excursions (Chichen itza and Cenote swim) and (Swim with dolphins and lagoon swim) which we felt were both worth the money. The Chichen Itza was a long day transfer on the coach but still feel it was worth it). We also did tequila tasting and trip to playa del carmen which was free (obviously they try and sell you tequila at the tasting but you don’t have to buy. I didn’t intend to buy any but I tried a kiwi flavoured one and it surprised me how nice it was so ended up buying a bottle). You can also hire kayaks, paddle boards and snorkels at the resort free of charge. I believe there was also a free Cenote trip and a free catamaran trip available but we only found out about this on our last day so unfortunately didn’t do those. I said the overall holiday was amazing and have given it 5 stars but just a couple of cons: We paid extra for a premium swim up room and personal concierge as it was our 20th anniversary as an extra treat. We had no contact with our personal concierge until day 4 out of 7 and it seemed most guests had a concierge service anyway so not sure why we paid extra for that? We expected the room to be a little more luxurious for the extra money but it seemed quite dated (although we can’t compare this to any other rooms so it may have been better). The swim up pool was directly opposite a swim up bar (I realise some people may see this as a bonus) but we were expecting it to be in a more garden/private like location. As it turned out the pool and bar was pretty quiet so it wasn’t too bad and they did look into changing our room a couple of days into our stay but we decided to stay where we were. Overall the extras we paid around £400-500 for were not worth it in our view. Lastly my wife suffers with allergie
