Friendly staff, not bad location

Great stay, lovely big room - a couple of small issues (lots of ants in room, cupboard door broken) but these were sorted quickly. We also found crisps on bedroom floor on check in! Great air conditioning and amazing shower. 2 adults and 2 girls (20 and 15) sharing the room - the beds in the bedroom were comfortable but the sofa beds weren’t great - 1 was really hard, the other soft with a thin mattress. Pool area was lovely, always got a sun bed but the ones with umbrella’s were taken early. Hotel itself wasn’t rowdy/noisy, no big groups but our room was near the road and we were woken a few times at around 4.30 am by people returning to other hotels/apartments. Ate mainly at the old town but had a lovely meal at the Clay Oven and bought a few things at the lovely bakery around the corner.

Absolutely loved my stay at tropical sol had room 0012 with its own terrace which was right in front of the pool bar the staff Francisco Natália and francesco were amazing so friendly and made us feel very welcome the cleaners were brilliant lovely lovely people and did a fantastic job 😀 all the staff were lovely definitely be back in July 2025 can’t wait thank you tropical sol

We have recently returned from a family holiday - our experience of the hotel was ok - but will not be returning Positives Snack bar is lovely good selection of drinks The hotel is clean - however there are a selection of rooms by the poolside which are like beach huts - very small Staff are ok - some are friendly some don’t speak or smile The pool area is spacious and the pool area is lovely Location of the hotel is more towards the ***** than the old town - you can walk into the old town (20mins) The hotel needs modernising - especially the rooms Negatives When I arrived with two young children - the room they offered me was right next to the bar - when we arrived there were 3 parties going on - which was extremely loud - I asked to be moved We arrived at the hotel at 11.30pm and the person on reception I found to be rude as he took a phone call whilst we were checking in - bearing in mind I had 2 children aged 8 and 5 Some of the rooms you can hear the main road - which is extremely noisy especially at the weekend Some rooms lead straight on the street Breakfast is ok - not worth the extra - very limited selection in choices - some morning they had run out of items Also whilst we were there a drunken teenager was on our sun beds that we reserved - we also walked up to Aldi one morning and there was a drunken teenager on the floor outside. Albufeira in my opinion now is catering more towards the younger generation and is becoming a second Ibiza - which is a shame as I came about 10 years ago and it was much more family oriented. There are some lovely restaurants around the old town and The Clay Oven - is amazing however unfortunately i will not be returning to Tropical Sol or Portugal.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel as a group of 4. As a group of 4, we had to pay a €500 cash security deposit when checking in (we travelled with EasyJet Holidays and this wasn’t communicated to us before arrival, so this was a slightly uneasy start to the holiday). We were given a set of rules that we had to follow in order to get the deposit back on the final day too. We understood the need to take precautions like this and as we are not a rowdy group we knew we would get the money back anyway, but it’s not ideal being left with hundreds of euros in cash when travelling home for exchanging the currency back etc. The hotel is lovely and the location is great and is close to plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants. It’s also a short taxi journey or around 30 minutes walk to the Old Town. We shared a self-catering apartment for 4 people which was spacious, clean, well equipped and had a balcony with a lovely pool view. The pool is a great size (very cold but good for cooling down) and the area around the pool is very spacious- although we felt that there could have been more sunbeds as the space was big enough for more and we had to lie on our towels on the ground at some points. The snack bar is great and reasonably priced and the staff at the snack bar were really helpful and provided great customer service. Overall, we had a great stay here and would return.

This is a great apartment complex, it is super clean and well cared for by the staff. The pool is a good size for the number of guests and an excellent and very reasonably priced snack bar. Previous reviews put me off but I’m so glad I came here. Pingo Doce is a good supermarket just across the street.

Fantastic clean appartments,with a very large pool for the amount of guests so it isnt like people soup when full and also plenty of room around about sunbeds ect. A great little snack bar at poolside which serves great food,drinks ect. very attentitive staff always smiling and eager to please,based very central with a 15 minute walk to beach and 25 minute walk to the old town of albefuria I would definetly visit again

We went here last year and it’s massively went down hill , the hotel had a more family /couple vibe to it last year whereas this year it has been a teenagers holiday / hen stag party venue . Women sitting topless at pool whilst others had sex dolls sitting at the poolside , doesn’t exactly seem appropriate when your at the pool with kids . Hotel is cleaned every day , however apartments are dated and it’s becoming noisy at night due to hosting a lot of young people . Albufeira itself is becoming the new Ibiza/magaluf which is quite sad as it’s a beautiful country , as usual the English ruin a place in no time . And for that reason we won’t return

Reading all those reviews made me book this hotel with Jet2! But let me tell you the honest truth. Albufeira’s demographic has changed massively…this is my fourth visit and it’s true what i read just before leaving…Albufeira is now Portugal’s Benidorm! For that reason our hotel was disappointingly Filled with hoards of youngsters from Holland and Ireland. By hoards, I mean groups of 12 or more! This is a late night party hotel so if you’re going with a young family like myself then please reconsider. You WILL NOT sleep and will be kept awake all night every night by kids coming and going, running up and down corridors and even being sick outside our room on one night. On our last night we had to call reception at 5am to have a group moved from outside our bedroom door. Half way through my ten night stay I requested a room move so my kids aged 6 and 12 didn’t have to feel scared at 2,3,4,5 or 6am anymore. We were moved rooms by a very apologetic manager who seemed overwhelmed by what the holiday companies were putting in his property. I asked my rep Steven why we were the only family staying at the Tropical Sol as at one point I thought we were staying in an adult only hotel. Jet2 state no Hen Parties, but on day 5, a 10 strong hen party turned up at the pool, having the best time no doubt, but glasses in the pool and around the pool edge is unacceptable to be honest and dangerous. This hotel was undoubtedly very good in years gone by but is now out of control every night. Stay here at your peril. On the plus side, the staff are incredible, especially the night manager who every morning looked like he had put up a good fight keeping control. Rooms are huge, cleaned every day and very good for what you need. Supermarket at the bottom of the hill and a great bakery just round the corner will keep you going everyday. I now own shares in UBER as well, through continuous use everyday! Cannot understand why it is so cheap in Portugal and efficient! Highly recommend the Marina for dinner and drinks. Sadly this will be our last time in Albufeira for a while. At least the younger generation will have a blast!

I previously stayed at this hotel not to long ago and may i just say there was one particular employee who made my trip very difficult. The employee worked night shifts from the 7th-14th of July and treated me and particularly me with disrespect. As i was coming home from the ***** he locked the hotel doors and told me i wasn’t allowed to wait at in the hotel until 8am which by this rate it was 4am. He Called me hurtful names like “Stupid girl” “Can you not read !”, “Dyslexia isn’t a real thing”. Yes i understand i was partially wrong but i was told one night i had to sleep on the sun-bed as a punishment of having a few friends over which he declined approval of. I understand I was wrong in this situation but i feel like it could have been dealt with more respect and in a sensible manner. I am utterly disappointed with the member of staff attitude it is a very nice hotel but he followed me to my room every night i came into it to make sure i wasn’t sleeping inside.

The hotel is now a bit dated and the rooms and furniture could do with an upgrade. The hotel itself has a good atmosphere and excellent staff and service. The rooms and hotel itself are very clean and the food available is excellent.

Stayed here for 10 nights. Rooms very good all staff very friendly. Close to good restaurants and bars. Very clean rooms. Cleaned on a daily basis. We really enjoyed our stay. Very good value for money. We will be returning.

Had not paid a lot for the holiday so was not really expecting great things but this complex far exceeded expectations. Our studio apartment was large, spotlessly clean and well equipped. There was a really nice pool with ample sun beds on a spacious grassy area. The pool bar got the sun all day. All staff were exceptional. The location was excellent for visiting many really good restaurants serving a wide variety of cuisines. Most of the people we met were returning visitors.

This was our 5th visit to the Tropical Sol and it didn’t disappoint. We were in room 6 beside the pool with a large outdoor patio complete with 2 sun loungers. The room was very large with comfortable beds. Bought a few things for breakfast and lunch and the kitchen area was sufficient for our needs. We would go out at night for dinner to Fat Cats but always returned to the Tropical Sol bar to finish the evening. Ruy, hope I spelt that right, and his daughter run the bar and really make you feel at home. I was speaking to another guest one night and discovered we were both celebrating our birthday. Ruy overheard and then supplied us with a complementary shot, cheers mate. There is a snack bar beside the pool but it was closed for our stay, in fact it was opening the day after we left. Rooms were cleaned every day by very friendly cleaning staff. The weather wasn’t great as it was cloudy every day but still very warm. We normally went for a long walk after breakfast along the main road to Aldi then turned right. The ***** is 5 minutes away and the old town is about 20 minutes away which we walked to and back one day. We didn’t sit at the poolside very long due to a wind blowing across the pool area but sat at our room which was sheltered but still got the sun. On our last two days it rained constantly so we didn’t go far. One night the rain was so bad we couldn’t go out for dinner so had a crisp bap in our room 😂😂 We will be back but not in March due to bad weather which the Tropical Sol have no control over. As said above this was out 5th visit and we will be back hopefully next year. If you want a nice quiet place to chill then the Tropical Sol is for you. Great staff, great location, bakery, bars and restaurants all within a couple of minutes walk. Real treat of a place to stay.
