Shegarton farm cottages are a lovely, peaceful place to stay just a little back from Loch Lomond. The only thing you will hear are the occasional bleats of the sheep on the adjoining property, even though the main road is just a few minutes away. Luss and Balloch are less than 10 minutes drive, and the cottages have all you need to self cater. The rooms are not huge, and the bathroom is tiny, but there’s enough room to cook, and sleep and eat, and if the weather is nice there’s plenty of tables outside. It’s worth remembering this is a farm, so wifi is slow, and hot water comes from a booster, though we found the shower hot and powerful. There’s a small refrigerator, and washer and dryer, which is a huge bonus if you’ve been on the road for a while. There’s parking right at the door, and the hosts are wonderful people, with great advice about the region.
