Удивительно красивое место, рекомендую для тех , кто ищет тишины и покоя, кто любит горы, ценит чистейший воздух, простор и яркое солнце. Мечтаю вернуться сюда в период цветения рододендрона, говорят в это время все дороги усыпаны красным ковром осыпающихся цветов. Сам отель открыт с 2007 года, расположен на высоте около 2500 метров, в регионе Кумаон северного штата Индии Уттаракханд, недалеко от города Алмора. В 19 веке дом был построен, как резиденция комиссара (губернатора?) региона Kumaon Henry Ramsay. В отеле бережно сохраняется атмосфера прошлых лет. Номеров немного, все имеют свое индивидуальное оформление. Из окон потрясающий вид на долину и горы. Хочу отметить и поблагодарить за заботу радушный и приветливый персонал, мы замечательно провели время и отдохнули. Отель работает на солнечной энергии, в номерах нет электроприборов, кроме прикроватных светильников и кондиционера. Горячая вода в номере с вечера до полудня. В холодное время обогрев в номере с помощью газовой колонки (и это единственное, что мне пришлось не по вкусу, не люблю газ), Персонал очень заботился, чтобы нам было комфортно и тепло и даже приносили горячие грелки в постель и термос с кипятком для того, чтобы мы могли пить горячий чай. Кроме нас в отеле была ещё одна семья индийцев, но они уехали раньше, весь отель был только для нас. Вечером , накануне отъезда нам устроили вечер у огня, организовали прямо на площадке , напротив нашего номера. Завтрак входил в стоимость номера, а ланч и ужин мы заказывали по меню. Был выбор из вегетарианских не вегетарианских блюд. Одной порции плова хватит на четверых, и очень вкусно. В меню супы, сандвичи, основные блюда, десерты. Персонал очень отзывчивый и готов прислушиваться к пожеланиям гостей. Этот январь , видимо, не характерно теплый, мы встречали цветущий рододендрон, хотя время его цветения март. Отель расположен на территории заповедника в Бинсаре, в лесах рододендрона и оака - родственника нашего дуба. Также ,чуть ниже, вдоль всего горного серпантина, куда только может простираться взгляд - сосновые леса. Интересно, что сосны в Индию завезли англичане в период своего господства, сосны прижились и очень распространились. Гид называл их Pine tree. Мы провели время в прогулках в окрестностях отеля, горные дороги и тропы - "hand made" выложены по принципу булыжной мостовой, сколько труда, как все сохранилось и служит людям не одно столетие! Также вручную выложены ограды , окружающие бывшие староанглийские поместья. Название камня, который там повсюду, звучит как "майка", не знаю как правильно перевести, серого цвета с таким золотистым отливом, и сияет на солнце. Такой пластинчатый вид, я встречала у известняков, как большие плоские листы. Этим камнем вымощены дороги, выложены ограды, площадки дворов и ступени, из него сооружают уличные скамьи и столы (столешница полностью один лист камня). A property worthy of a 5* rating just got downgraded by me because of the HORRENDOUS approach road! Because it is within the Binsar Bird sanctuary, as it is the sanctuary road from the gate to the 'Simba' cafe is bad - then , though they send their own 4X4 jeep to transport you up, the road for the last 600 Mts. is like a rocky stream-bed! guaranteed to displace a spinal disc or two. The property itself is beautiful, the old home of a lord-sahib, and perched atop a great location. Rooms are spread over two floors, the dining area being on the upper floor. there are sit-outs and balconies eerywhere, and the grounds offer beautiful views as well. The hotel has access to the Binsar bird and national parks as well. It is now probably going to be taken over by the Taj (Seleqtions) group, and is already upto 'Taj standards' as far as the rooms, their build and upkeep - as well as the dining facilities go. The staff show impeccable hospitality, are well trained and knowledgeable. The 'kitchen' knows its stuff, especially about Pahadi/Kumaoni food. The views are great - even though the star of Binsar , NandaDevi, is hidden. Sunrises and sunsets are spectacular, and worth taking 'time-off' for!

We were all female group from 6 yr old to 70 yr. From booking till last day we were taken care . We went for another half day trip and hotel staff made sure my mother is taken care of. It's old and beautiful charming hotel and staff makes yr stay memorable. They made sure we are safe and enjoy it. Things to note # Please only come if u r coming for view and peace. # It's not an accessible place and something like time to enter the sanctuary is government orders and so is road maintenance. Reach before the sun sets. # has no power line so everything runs on solar. Don't expect 24/7 hot warm water. There is time on it and frankly it didn't affect us. # food is excellent and they are accommodating # I just hope the owner of the place takes more care of it It's very beautiful and I hope more money is put in to make it more beautiful. # leave yr vehicle below and someone will pick u in their 4x4. Please let them do that. There is no road for 600m. # for people coming with drivers. There is a cafe with commodation just below the hotel. Hotel staff can help to book that place.

Quiet, remote, peaceful, old style Manor House with remnants of British artefacts and service. Very helpful and attentive staff. You can expect a good breakfast of eggs, bread and maybe paranthas. They can make some local kumaoni dishes too. Do try their chilli eggs for snacks.

weather was surprisingly good in April and the ambience around & of the Manor was perfect to pair with. Food was hygienic and tasty. definitely recommend. Rooms are clean and properly maintained. helpful staff. Better to take cars with 4by4 tires if taking own car.

Great place to stay! Book it if you want a peaceful stay, away from the city! For food, vegetarian options are much better than the non-veg!

This property has a warm ambience and a mellow feel that belongs to days gone by. It's a semi Heritage property with memorabilia from the days of British Raj. An excellent and courteous team of staff members looks after you so well. Food was excellent The tranquility and views may you wish you could extend your stay for some more days .

The old house serves as a constant amongst the ever-changing hills, providing a perennial home amid such transformation. Our journey from Delhi to Kathgodam via the Shatabdi train was a delight. The subsequent journey from Kathgodam railway station to the Grand Oak Manor was nothing short of thrilling. Despite encountering a forest fire and a thunderstorm on the day of our arrival, which resulted in prolonged driving for five hours, our family pressed on, aided by a forest ranger and with reassurances from Mr. Rajan. On reaching our destination, we were greeted by Kailash who took us in the I Suzu for bumpy ride of 600 meters toward the Manor. We found ourselves instantly charmed by the warm welcome and generous hospitality. After receiving a warm reception, which included drinks, we were shown to our rooms. We opted for the Mountain View room, which offered a breathtaking depiction of the Nanda Devi mountain range. The Grand Oak Manor is an unforgettable destination lying within the Binsar Forest Reserve in Uttarakhand. This historical colonial residence, once the home of Sir Henry Ramsay, Commissioner of Kumaon, has been restored to embrace its original grandeur. During our three-night stay, we utilized two rooms. In total, there are four rooms on the first floor, strategically situated near the inviting restaurant and sunset lounge. Additionally, there are another seven or eight rooms on the ground floor. Interestingly, the manor operates on solar power. Consequently, hot water supply is only available from 7pm to 11am. Despite this limitation, we understood and respected the constraints associated with this remote location. Even meal requests need to be placed at least two to three hours in advance, to ensure the food is prepared fresh as per our preferences. The cuisine was simple, homely and gastronomically delightful. The daily high tea ritual was always a treat, complete with a homemade cake and delicious plum jam. Our early morning bird-watching sessions, led by an experienced and humble naturalist, Mr. Ram Singh, were informative and entertaining. We were fortunate to spot a plethora of birds and even heard a leopard's call. On the subsequent day, we embarked on an adventurous 6.5 km trek to Zero Point saw yellow-throated marten , barking deer birds, adhering to the adage, no pain, no gain. Every evening, we were provided with a hot bag and hot water in a flask. We were particularly impressed with the well-trained staff, specifically Pankaj, Ganesh, and Kailash who went above and beyond to accommodate my family. Without a doubt, we are looking forward to our next visit.

Overall excellent stay. The hospitality was really good. The property is beautiful and very tastefully done - retaining the vintage charm. The stay offers an excellent sunset and sunrise view. The last 600 m of the road is pretty bad and the hotel provides free pick up and drop in their 4x4 vehicle. The last 3 kms in the national park is slightly bad too and would need a car with good clearance - however the property is in constant touch and provides guidance and support as needed. Overall a great stay and would love to go again.
