艾奧瓦之家(Iowa House)

The Iowa House was such a wonderful change from your typical hotel. So homey and well thought out with the 24 hour availability of snacks in the dining room as well as water, coffe and tea. Bed and bedding was excellent. I am sure the breakfast is excellent too - I was in town for a meeting where breakfast was part of the registration, so I didn't get to enjoy. Will definitely return!

The accommodations were very nice & I would stay there again, particularly since I now know what to expect … but I received an email thanking me for my check-in before I even arrived in town, which was a bit disconcerting. Maybe that’s no big deal … My impression was that the operation is very “do-it-yourself”, which is not quite what I expected based on other experiences with B&Bs, but maybe that’s no big deal, either. My room was exactly what I needed for a brief business stay, and it was very clean with a very comfortable bed and a fantastic soaking tub. All in all, Iowa House will be my first choice for future trips to Ames.

I lived in this fraternity house from '73 to '75. Although the fraternity moved to a new location, I like the renovation from fraternity house to suites/bnb. Our room carpet needed replaced or cleaned, and saw cobwebs in a high window, but love the ambiance the Iowa House offers. Well decorated and updated with paved parking, new walks. Overall well mantained and comfortable.

It would have been great if I was not in the basement room. Room number started with 1 and I thought it is in the first floor. There was noise from water running and hair dryer from upstairs during the night, and there was a second door (with windows) connected to the outside which was not ideal for me, watching people come and go.

It was GREAT. for some reason thought there was an elevator but maybe I missed where it said no elevator - not a big deal for me. everyone was super friendly. It was very comfortable. definitely want to stay there again.

Stayed here by myself for my son’s fraternity moms weekend - super close to campus and very clean. I only saw the staff at breakfast but they did a great job. Would definitely stay here again! Highly recommended!

Really lovely and unique spot close to campus. Very cozy and quiet with nice shared spaces to hang out during our stay. Would definitely return.

I took my daughter and her friend to visit ISU and our stay at the Iowa house was great. The home and our room was easy to access, we felt completely safe and the girls thought it was cool to stay in a former frat house. It's beautifully decorated and had plenty of snacks and drinks the evening we arrived. Breakfast consisted of biscuits and gravy and eggs prepared however you liked. We stayed Sun - Mon so it was not very busy. The girls ate in their room and I was the only one in the dining area at the time. If my daughter decides to attend ISU, this will be our 1st choices of places to stay again. We stayed in the Loft Queen. There was a queen bed downstairs for the girls and a full size (larger than a twin but not a queen) upstairs. If you have difficulty navigating slim, spiral staircases....the upstairs may not be for you. We loved it.
