The Homestay Contacted me via *********** to ask if I would pay in advance into their account. As I am traveling I did not have the ability to do this but they said it wasn’t a problem I could pay there. The Homestay are Very friendly family owners. They Organised good Tuk tuk pick up from train station. As it is winter the Homestay didn’t have many guests the owner allowed us to pick our room. It was peaceful when we stayed however I imagine if it full then it could be a bit noisy as the lift going up & down has music & the rooms echo due to how the house is built. The rooms are modern-ish. Have Indian TV, lots of hot water (which is unusual) a good size, kettle. and are relatively clean. Can pay extra to have the aircon on as heating in winter. The view of golden temple from roof is very nice, but it’s on a staircase it’s not somewhere you can sit out. Location is great & feels safe & is quiet at night. I really liked the owner, very friendly and the business seems to be well run, I feel bad for writing the negatives below but they are things that you may want to consider if staying here. The minus side of the Homestay is the bed. It is very very hard even by India standards. Basically like sleeping in a yoga mat on the floor. It was very uncomfortable. 2 blankets were provided as it is cold at night, but no top sheet. This was easily provided when I asked for one (it is unhygienic to sleep in blankets someone else has slept in and they are not washed after each patron) Because the room has no windows the room can not air/dry out. It was warm during the day in Amritsar but the room was always cold. The heat from our bodies during the night travelled through the blankets and then cooled, causing the top blanket to be damp to the touch (like dew on grass) thankfully I had my own hairdryer to get rid of this otherwise the blanket would have been damp on the 2nd night.
