鑄造廠套房酒店(The Foundry Suites)

A very small, boutique hotel. Great staff. The rooftop garden is the perfect place to have a slow breakfast before heading out into Athens. We felt we were within walking distance of everything we wanted to see. And close to so many great restaurants.

I chose The Foundry because I wanted a hotel that offered something different from other standard hotels. While I wanted a place that was comfortable and clean, I also wanted a hotel that would provide a different experience beyond just a hotel room. I liked the website photos of the suites available at The Foundry and booked a suite for two people for two nights. I was given one of the smaller units, understandably. We got room I-2 which comes with a small kitchenette (there was a range hood, induction stove top, cookware, dinnerware, basic condiments), a Nespresso coffee machine and a small fridge. There was a small dining table as well as a comfortable couch and coffee table. The double bed was on an elevated platform, as was the bathroom. We loved how spacious the room was, having the bed on an elevated platform meant that we could easily move around the room without bumping into each other or the bed. There was no enclosed storage, which may be a problem for people who are staying longer and would like to unpack their clothes. There is a clothes rail with a few hangers, and a coat rack for putting up your clothes/items. There is one open shelf under the bed for additional storage but I would say that it's not that easily accessible. The absolute standout for me was their breakfast served in a basket, which can be delivered to your room or to the rooftop terrace. You place your order with the reception (it's a generous menu), and they will deliver the basket to you at the specified time. The rooftop bar opens at 6pm and guests are given a welcome drink upon check-in. It's not open for breakfast (as in, no one is there to serve drinks) but guests are allowed to use it for breakfasts. On our second morning, we had to leave for our flight before 6am. The receptionist said that they also provide a packed breakfast, which understandably is limited to sandwiches. When we checked out the following morning, there was our packed sandwiches with two bottles of water at reception, all ready for us! We were very impressed with the hotel, it's room and their service. We found the location to be a great spot, as there were cafés and restaurants within a 2-min walk, as well as a deli directly opposite the hotel (which provided the delicious packed sandwiches!). There is actually a pub and a restaurant just outside the hotel, but we weren't disturbed by any sounds at night. Would definitely recommend a stay at this hotel for a great experience.

Ottimo hotel,con poche camere, nel vivace quartiere Psyri. La camera riservataci, la H1, è ampia, pulita e ben illuminata; 2 letti matrimoniali molto comodi e 2 docce ( in due spazi diversi). Non c'è moquette! Staff ottimamente organizzato, efficiente ed educato ( un grazie a tutti, in special modo a Katerina e a Kostas). Dal roof top si gode una vista stupenda sull'Acropoli: farci colazione ( personalizzata, con basket da picnic) è un autentico privilegio; idem dicasi per una cenetta informale o per un drink la sera. A "macchiare" questa bellissima struttura, sapientemente ristrutturata, ci sono, a detta di molti, dei rumori notturni molesti, provenienti dal vicinissimo pub, soprattutto nei fine settimana: è vero ma , sia mia moglie che mia figlia che io, abbiamo dormito sempre ( per tutte e quattro le notti di permanenenza) otto-nove ore filate (senza l'ausilio dei "tappi" per le orecchie che, comunque, l'hotel mette a disposizione dei clienti).Infine, un suggerimento: passeggiate per il quartiere, da Psyri Square in poi, magari; ci si accorge, forse, che la Plaka non è così imprescindibile... Consigliatissimo.

Psirri is an edgy but very safe area in Athens about 10 minutes walk from the Acropolis. The hotel/suites are comfortable and roomy. The staff were fantastic giving great restaurant advice and very friendly. We had the ground floor suite which is facing the street with a restaurant and pub close by but we had no issues with noise and the foundry supplied earplugs for those that do. Our daughters were in a smaller suite upstairs - the suites are all very edgy and interesting and well equipped. Make sure you have a sunset drink at the rooftop bar.

Really excellent hotel with a nearby pub that has good prices and good food. The service at the Foundry hotel was absolutely outstanding in every area, the front desk, the reservations, the rooftop bar. The rooftop bar is a gorgeous oasis in a city that I really didnt like much, it has a stunning view of the parthenon, excellent food, pizzas and charcuterie and unique cocktails that were less expensive than elsewhere. I spent a lot of time there and it made the two day layover we had in Athens a pleasure. they helped us with all our transport arrangements. Great staff.

I stayed here for two nights before a cruise departing out of Piraeus and it was amazing! I was traveling with my parents and two friends and we booked two rooms. We were in love as soon as we walked in the front door. The aesthetics of the building and decoration are unique and breathtaking. The staff is exceptionally friendly, hospitable, and helpful. The attention to detail--from the homemade lemonade during check-in to the picnic baskets that breakfast is served in--is like nothing I've seen before. On the topic of breakfast, make sure your booking includes breakfast! They partner with the deli across the street for a design-your-own breakfast that goes above and beyond the usual hotel breakfast. You can eat it on the rooftop among greenery and flowers, with a view of the Acropolis. On the topic of the rooftop, that was another highlight. The Acropolis is only in view from some of the seats, but the ambiance of the rooftop is delightful. In the evening it becomes a bar open to the public that serves (very good) flatbreads/pizzas. Our favorite cocktail was the Apollion (sp?). However, I noticed it can get busy so consider making a reservation if you want to spend time in the evening up there.

Excellent hotel in a super hip and fun part of Athens. The decor and vibe are really fantastic, including an epic rooftop bar with views of the Acropolis and the most attentive and friendly bartender, Maria! The hotel stay was fantastic but Maria made the visit with her incredible local knowledge, gregarious nature and fun spirit!

The hotel is lovely, the roof garden is blissful with tremendous views of the Acropolis, the staff are wonderful. One glitch for us was that our room (D1) directly overlooked a pub/club 5yds away which made sleeping impossible until 1.30am. As we were shown to our room the apologies began about what to expect of the noise. After the second night out of five we said if we couldn’t be moved to a quieter room we would have to move hotels and we were moved to a room on the opposite side of the building, lovely and quiet. I empathise with the hotel with this problem, even though we knew it’s a city hotel, because the club arrived after the hotel opened. On positive notes, there is no kitchen at the hotel so breakfast is delivered at your chosen time either to your room or the roof terrace in a wicker basket with lots of good quality food that you order the night before and it was not only ample but really tasty. Good Nespresso coffee machines both in the room and the roof terrace with capsules provided. The hotel itself is proper urban chic, beautifully designed and a pleasure to be in. The roof garden is a treasure in its own right. This was a great base to walk all over the place from during our five days and we would happily stay again, room dependent. Athens restaurants are gd value, do seek out Sisinely. We are proper foodies and we still ate there twice. May is a lovely time in Athens, great temperatures.

It is such a perfect accommodation, extremely spacious rooms/flats, stylish interior design and an impeccable service. The best from two worlds: you have the spaciousness and amenities of an apartment (kitchen, terrace etc) as well as the cleaning service and breakfast of an hotel. We were already looking forward to the wonderful breakfast basket, that is delivered every morning to your room with all the delicious treats of your choice, and at the time it suits you best. So good. But best of all, the incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Catarina and Constantina were receiving us in the most friendly way and made us feel like family in Athens. Also the location is just top. We will definitely choose the Foundry again, when back in Athens.
