This is still a new place, built within the last 5 years on what was once a lovely, fairly pristine area of sawah (rice fields) in Kemenuh, roughly between Gianyar Kota and Ubud. (Do not be tricked, as despite the name, Sujiwa Ubud is *not* in Ubud but in Kemenuh.) Sad to say that, since my last visit up this road in 2020, much of the beauty of this area is a memory. Villas and guest houses are going up all over, the sawah are not cared for as they used to be, and the scenery and ambience have been lost. Sujiwa itself is a nice enough building, with a little pool and rooms which could be comfortable with their nice furniture and balconies. Unfortunately, the place is not managed well. The two staff we saw, I think, lack training. Unusually for Bali, one was not fairly unfriendly and we never say him after the first day. The other, who does most of the work, is nice and friendly but, doesn't seem to understand how to be available, deal with guests, or to clean rooms. Our washroom stank, the shower drain was mostly blocked, and the toilet reeked of urine. Mould on the walls too. Our bedcover smelt mildewy. Shelves were dusty. The cleaner does not seem to understand how to clean. Meanwhile, our balcony on the upper floor had a bamboo railing that had been eaten by termites, to the point where it was flimsy and dangerous - certainly not safe if our daughter were smaller. Outside, the pictures you will see of Sujiwa no longer match the current reality and were probably taken soon after the place was built, but not recently. There is now a villa behind, there is a construction project happening at the far end of the pool, and another project on the non-pool side. Sujiwa is now surrounded on three of four sides, and building is underway on two of those sides. Instead of the sounds of birds or the breeze, you hear tools and banging from early in the morning. Sujiwa might have added this warning to their CTrip description, but they have not. The wifi was inconsistent, until I pressed the staff to fix the main account we could receive upstairs. After 2 or 3 excuses about the weather or the construction affecting the wifi, it turned out that the wifi could be fixed and it was. There is little nearby in immediate walking distance, just the road, the formerly lovely sawah, and tourist accommodation being built. There is a simple warung about 200m down the road where we saw staff cleaning dishes in the roadside ditch. Female travellers, particularly those alone, may not feel comfortable. Due to the construction, there are a number of builders staying along the road who have few options for entertainment than to hang out along the road in the evenings. One or more would also sit by the Sujiwa pool and smoke at times. The roadside ditch was being used for bathing as well, which you do see in rural parts of the island still. The workers seemed friendly to myself and my family but, as said, I might feel different if female and alone. Overall, Sujiwa might have been a nice place when it first opened, but it has been neglected. It is a shame this natural area has been disfigured for the sake of building indifferently run places like this. We paid a low price for 3 nights, but the price reflects the disappointing state of affairs.

위치는 시골 of 시골이었어요.. 닿을 수 있는 교통편은 유일하게 그랩뿐이었습니다. 하지만 그마저도.... 체크인때는 레기안에서 그랩을 잡아타고 갔기 때문에 별 문제 없었으나 체크아웃때는 잡은 그랩을 3번이나 놓치고 4번째 그랩을 타고 빠져나올 수 있었어요...... 체크아웃 후 30분 동안 뙤양볕에 노출되어있었습니다.... 필요한 것을 요청할 수 있는 상황이 되지 않아서 따로 요청하지도 않았어요.. 그래도 2박 3일 머무르는 동안 어떻게든 마주치게 되면 다음날 조식을 미리 신청 받아주고, 정확한 시간에 조식을 방으로 가져다주셨어요. 직원분들의 친절도, 서비스 자체로는 5점 만점에 5점이에요. 수영장 바로 옆 1층 룸으로 배정해주신 것과 마주칠 때마다 따뜻하게 맞이 해주시는 직원분들은 너무나도 만족스러웠지만.... 대부분의 시간동안 프론트 데스크는 아무도 없이 비어있었습니다. 2번룸의 화장실은 한국의 깡시골 모텔 같은 저렴한 느낌이었으며, 때때로 물줄기가 확 줄어들어서 졸졸졸 흐르는 물로 겨우 샤워를 할 수 있었어요. 다른 리뷰를 통해 연박을 하는 동안 수건 교환, 물 추가, 청소가 이루어지지 않는 다는 것은 알고 있었으나 설마설마했었거든요. 그런데 역시나 이루어지지 않았습니다. 저희가 자주 수영을 즐겼기 때문에 수건은 어떻게든 새로 교환을 받아야 했어요. 그래서 어쩌다 마주친 직원분께 바로 새 수건을 요청해서 받았습니다. 시설은 대체적으로 노후한 편이며, 호텔의 앞과 옆, 그리고 초입의 유일한 도로까지 전부 공사중으로 흙먼지가 많이 날립니다. 그래도 그랩은 배달이 되니, 먹을 것을 챙겨오지 못하여도 큰 문제는 없었어요. 다른 손님들이 거의 없었기 때문에 수영장을 전세낸 듯 사용할 수 있었던 점도 좋았습니다.

Quite unclean and damp

Nous avons séjourné 3 nuits dans la villa privée de cet établissement et avons regretté! 1. Réception: presque à chaque fois que nous y allions, il n'y avait personne. Il fallait crier dans tout l'établissement avant que quelqu'un ne réponde 2. Déjeuner: il nous fallait choisir entre quelques plats à choix. Nous avons pris les pancakes les 3 jours. Jour 1, ok. Jour 2, pancakes pas cuites. Jour 3, nous avons attendus 40 minutes après avoir demandé alors que nous avions dit devoir partir. Je suis finalement allé cherché moi-même dans la cuisine (dégoûtante, au passage) et elles avaient un goût bizzare. 3. Propreté: la chambre n'était pas très propre, la cuvette des toilettes ne donnaient pas envie de s'asseoir, des insectes morts parterre. Le frigo n'a pas été nettoyé depuis je ne sais pas quand. La piscine privée, des choses flottaient dessus. Nous avons demandé à la Nettoyer, ce qu'ils sont venus faire le 1er jour puis plus rien. 4. Bruit: L'établissement était en travaux (ce dont nous n'avions pas été prevenus) et les employés dormaient sur place. Ce qui veut dire qu'ils parlaient (forts!) et mettaient de la musique jusqu'à minuit puis le matin à 7h (et 7h45 le 3ème jour), nous étions réveillés par les bruits de machine! Nous sommes allés nous plaindre, et le manager nous a offert la dernière nuit, c'est la moindre des choses. 5. Pas de restauration: il n'y a pas moyen d'acheter quelques petits trucs à grignoter sur place et pas de restaurant. On est obligé de se déplacer en ville ou de commander par Grab. 6. Villa plus privée: avec les nouveaux travaux, la villa ne sera plus aussi privée étant donné qu'une fenêtre semble donner sur la villa. Je ne recommande pas cet établissement. Je mets 2 et non 1 car le lit était confortable, la chambre spacieuse et pour la compréhension du manager.
