Tolles Hotel in super Lage, umgeben von einem tollen Park. Die Zimmer waren großzügig angelegt und sehr schön ausgestattet. Das ganze Hotel war super schick eingerichtet und verfügt über ein sehr gutes Restaurant. Der Service war einwandfrei und das Personal sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Parkplätze und ein Aufzug sind vorhanden. Bei unserem nächsten Schottland-Aufenthalt kommen wir sehr gerne wieder.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at Tor na Coille but for one bad experience. The hotel and rooms are beautiful, well equipped and just what we expected from a vintage country inn. After a nice dinner in the restaurant we retired to our rooms (room 6 is especially grand and highly recommended). Unfortunately we could hear terrible pounding music, we thought from the bar below. At 10pm we called down to ask if the music could be turned down/off but it continued. When I went downstairs to investigate further I found the bar was actually closed and the clean up staff (a bus boy) was in the dining room cleaning/prepping tables. I asked for the music to be turned off - again - as it was directly below our room. Unfortunately, by 10:30pm a second trip to the dining room was required to finally get the night manager to stop the “music”. This spoiled what was otherwise a perfect stay in the hotel. The next morning at breakfast, Rhami the owner spoke with me and made a sincere apology for the unnecessary disturbance and I believe from his comments this was a one off event. I hope so, as the hotel is far better than this! Ask for room 6 it is beautiful, but the Vinho Verde should be avoided!

Our family have been visiting the Tor-na-coille for 12 years. It’s always been good although standards dipped a bit a few years ago, they have come roaring back…!!! Breakfast and dinner standards are better and having access to the huge gym next door are great. Staff as always are very helpful.

While, we didn’t stay in the hotel we had a beautiful dinner and breakfast there. The staff are beyond welcoming and the service was excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed a venison dinner which was extremely flavourful! Would highly recommend for an evening out or a weekend stay!

We had a superb Sunday lunch to celebrate a birthday.The roast beef /chicken sharing platter was really good and well presented.Cocktail selection also very good. Friendly,helpful staff especially the front of house manager who made sure everything was up to scratch.The hotel refurbishment is really stylish.Look forward to seeing the revamp of the function suite.Outdoor lawn area now being used to it's full potential.Would highly recommend.

Hotel in lovely wooded area. Staff were excellent. Breakfast adequate and dinner very good. Downstairs areas all really nice. Check with staff how lift works when you arrive, as unless lift doors shut properly, you are carrying your suitcases! Room dark and dated but comfortable and well stocked. Definitely worth a visit.

Booked for one night get away with our pooch due to reviews. Room 115 - avoid - overlooks a terrible mess - honestly a disgrace! Had to open windows because of the room heat - obviously the smokers were outside and the room smelled of cigarette smoke. The room was dull - could do with getting rid of the scratchy tartan thing on the bed and cushions. It was dusty - I wouldn’t have dared pick up the phone - it was filthy. The mattress was hellish and the pillows lumpy - linen was white but certainly not crisp - it was almost tacky to the touch. Never slept a wink. When anyone on the same level closed their door ours banged loudly. Tea/coffee - could be much better - Nescafé sachets - no thanks. Breakfast - my partner had the full breakfast - he said it was ok. Eggs Benedict- eggs were nice enough, fatty bacon and goodness knows why brioche? The toast was like cardboard with tasteless butter and poor standard jams etc. The continental selection was possibly the worst I’ve come across. The pluses were few but the bathroom was okay and nice toiletries. Robes if you wanted them - plus a fan if you can sltand the noise. £20 charge for your pooch) most expensive charge yet although a bed provided - brought our own and a hamper with bowls if you need and a ball and toy. This charge was deducted because we complained about the room. Would like to habe seen the other rooms to see how they compared - have paid less than £155 for b&b in much better establishments

Have just had the very best high afternoon tea we have EVER had! Not your usual shop bought bits and pieces. All hand made on the premises (hence the 24 hour notice required). All of the pastries and cakes have that little extra twist or detail that the chef has put in. Simply the best!

I've pretty much stayed in every hotel in Banchory over the years and when the job I was on ran over yesterday I thought I stay here as its the one I've never tried. Reception was excellent as was the room but was completely let down when i went for dinner. Service from the bar man was poor and I was almost felt like I was unwelcome. ( The first time I've ever felt like this in the 20 years I've been working away staying in hotels). I ordered the fish and chips and for 16 pounds I was served with a lovely fish with a plate full of burnt frozen mccain oven chips. We've got a lot of work coming up in this area and we will be choosing to go back to the Banchory lodge to stay as the service there is far superior. I left this morning feeling completely disappointed considering the complete stay including dinner was 127 pounds. If your going to charge top money these days you need to deliver and unfortunately this hotel didn't.

Stayed two nights in Room 1 ...a large room with a sitting area and good views to a garden and down to the spa. Very comfortable bed with quality linen . Lots of wardrobe/drawer space . Large bathroom with walk in shower . Widescreen TV and radio . Cosy armchairs to enjoy the view . Very good breakfast and excellent service throughout out our stay . Lovely main lounge with roaring fire ..so comfortable . Our family and friends enjoyed the Saturday night meal pre booked or about 30 of us ,

My wife and I stayed here for one night and we had a wonderful experience. It started with a very warm welcome at reception followed by the fantastic room number 6. Our dinner was superb and the service was excellent. The breakfast was really good and again great service. Every member of staff we met was very friendly and very helpful. We will most definitely return but for more than one night.

A really gorgeous evening from start to finish, the service was amazing and the food was perfect, very impressed with the separate menu that they had available for our vegan! Absolutely loved it, we will be back soon!

Lovely ambience and restaurant recently redecorated to high standard but food disappointing. Arancini balls underwhelming as all risotto with a tiny amount of mushroom and missing mozzarella. Turkey roll not great either, overdone topped with raw bacon. We didn’t stay for dessert!

We had a family meal tonight with 10 family members but the noise was terrible with cocktails being continuously made right next to our table so basically you couldn’t hear your self or other family members speak due to ice being rattled continuously. The roast rib was excellent but the mashed potatoe portion was very small so ended up with lots of gravy and only one vedge with which was spinach. The fish batter was horrendous on two of the meals soaked in oil and at this price point should be quality crisp beer batter. The fries were acceptable but could easily be improved. The smoked salmon starter was very good but again the portion size was not worth £10.00 with three slivers of salmon but tasted great all the same. The service was the poorest on this occasion with very little attention to our table and with high prices like this service should match but was very poor indeed. I was shocked at being offered a steak at £85.00 when my favourite hotel can do the best 12 oz sirloin for £60.00 with all the trimmings and service second to none. Lovely improvement in the new lounge but a front of house person is required in the busy weekend restaurant and some focus on portion size with some of the relatively expensive starters and the wine is overpriced at the hotel. Note I can see great potential for the Tor-na-coille hotel but there is a fine line in pricing your self away from success and good service is essential to support this. Keith knight Banchory
