We had a great stay here in Nov 25 for a weekend. Its a 4 minute drive from Barmouth centre. The lady who owns it is so friendly and welcoming, a refreshing change for a hotel. The interior is all wood/panels/stained glass, a large fire to sit by of an evening makes it a perfect spot! We had the evening meal and the breakfast, not a massive selection for the evening meal, but portions were large and food was great, same goes for the breakfast, a variety of cereals/with a Full English - which you cant beat! We would definitely go back!

Plenty of off road parking at the front of the hotel. A beautiful, atmospheric interior greets you when you arrive and walk into the reception area. We found our room, ‘6’ perfect, warm and comfortable, with a great view of the coastline heading North. The beds were very comfortable, the bath spacious. We loved the dining and relaxing areas, with a nice little bar and great views. The owners were very friendly and welcoming and our server was a lovely, attentive and courteous chap. This hotel has a bit of history to it, built by a gunsmith, with one of his guns possibly used by Doc Holliday. We enjoyed it so much we will be returning later this year.

The hotel was lovely, it reminded us of a national trust property and the stained glass and the views over the coastline were amazing. The staff could not have been more helpful, the room had a four poster bed in an actual turret and beautiful views of the coast out of both large windows. The breakfast had buffet options and the food itself was very good quality. Highly recommended.

Castle stay
Breakfast was great, some were just happy with the buffet, cereal, fruit yoghurt, toast, juices but the full english was really good and you could choose any combination of the full english, cooked fresh specially to your order. We only ate in one evening and the food was ample and beautifully cooked. Bar prices were good, not near as expensive as many hotels so nice to stay in on an evening. The original features of the hotel are wonderful, some reviews suggest modernising but that would ruin such a historic building. The only downside for me was the mattress and pillow's could use an upgrade and I prefer carpeted room but minor niggles. We will definately return.

Although the room was not cheap, the bathroom was unclean and the overall condition of the room was very tired. Pillows were flat, windows were grubby. Breakfast options were very limited, with few healthy choices available. Most concerning was the sheer number of cameras throughout the property, which felt intrusive and quite unsettling.
