I've stayed here before, the reason I chose it again is the price and location. Great location with a short walk and some steps down to Salamanca Place. Its a typical older hotel, you get what you pay for and so long you are not expecting 5 stars, its great! I will stay here again..

Booked this accommodation to attend an event in Battery Point. Quite possibly the worst accommodation I have ever booked. If I could give this accommodation less than 1 star I would. As an introduction, the carpet on the stairs leading to the accommodation was black with use and worse was to come at the top. To the left of the landing, the carpet was even more stained than the stairs, which I didn't think could be possible. The initial room booked, the Kelly Suite, was grubby and it was obvious that the doona covers had not been replaced since the last guests. The toilet had a wooden seat - how does anyone make sure a wooden toilet seat is actually clean, especially in the age of covid. The carpet was stained and the unit dusty. Furniture was also scruffy and in a state off bad repair. Requested and was given another 'suite' and it was worse than the first (Hampden Suite). This suite had a kitchen and I don't know when it was last given a good clean. The oven was obviously dirty, there was dust and dirt in the main bedroom and the carpet was grotty and spotted with stains. An entrance way to a deck area was a window, the ledge of which was worn and scruffy due to foot traffic and water. One wall decoration was an unframed picture just stuck on the wall. The bathroom was unkempt, with cracked tiles, shower curtain stiff with use, an dirt around the taps. Someone else's hair was in the bath and on the handbasin plug. A wooden blind was broken and one slat was hanging down. And again, the doonas had obviously not been changed since the last guest - these are the things which go near your face when sleeping - not nice! I can only imagine how a visitor to Tasmania would view the State if this was their first port of call. We repacked our things and left, never to return. This accommodation is not recommended in any way shape or form. We have eaten here previously and the food us good, but the accommodation is not.

Absolutely filthy disgusting room (19). Beds are incredibly uncomfortable, bathroom was filled with cracked tiles. Dirty black carpet. One towel that was supplied had human faeces on it. I came away from that experience with a bacterial eye infection. Was meant to stay 2 nights but cancelled the second night. Horrible experience. On the good side the restaurant food was too quality.

Das Zimmer war in einem sehr altem Zustand und muss dringend renoviert werden. Die Sauberkeit ließ auch zu wünschen übrig. Die Betten alt und durchgelegen. Man hat sich nicht wohl gefühlt. Wogegen das Restaurant und der pub einen ganz anderen Eindruck gemacht hat.

The Prince of Wales Hotel was perfect for our needs. It is located in the heart of some amazing eateries, gift shops, Post Office and a short walk to the famous Salamanca Market (trading on Saturdays). The staff are friendly and helpful. It is well priced for it's central location.

When we visited the specials on offer in the bar area were between $20.00 - $25.00 The food was good, great potion size and good value for money. After trying a couple of restaurants in Battery Point that were disappointing to say the least, we were so happy we stumbled upon the Prince of Wales Hotel. They also had live music on a Sunday afternoon that was a bonus. The beer was good. Outdoor seating available and some indoor seating was adjacent to big open windows. We had calamari , chips and salad with a really nice spicy aioli and the steak. The only thing that would of made this review 5 stars was if the bar staff member who served us was a bit more personable.

The food was really fantastic. Room was a bit cold at this time of year but other than that it was just fine.

Here is the letter written to the management. We also sent a number of photos to back up the claim. Still no reply. Hi Management. My husband an I , Judith Cameron, stayed in room 17 on Saturday the 30th of March. We found many areas of concern with the standard of accommodation. The first concern was the standard of cleanliness. The toaster could not be used as there were crumbs and junk in the toaster. The floor in the bathroom was filthly. Above the bath the tile grout was mouldy. The bathroom door doesn’t click lock and I suppose that is why the rubber wedge was kindly supplied.The bottom of the toilet bowl has black stain in it which is unsightly. A bit of bleach could fix this. The wardrobe door could only be opened a short way so that it was impracticable to use. The toilet seat was that loose it twisted when you had to contort yourself to reach the toilet paper. PS Loved the way the spare toilet roll was put on the coat hanger on the door. The jug still had the previous person’s water in it. The mirror was obscured by the TV. The fridge door has mould build up in the door rubber. The draws below the luggage rack don’t open We were concerned about the wiring and the use of power boards. Our background is in motel and resort management and these are some of the problems we saw that we felt were not up to hospitality standards. Unfortunately the worst experience, firstly VERY small servings some ordered lamb shanks that arrived over cooked and shrivelled covered in a separate synthetic boxed gravy. ‘Creamed potato’ was a slab of grey hard unseasoned mystery matter with a grey/green sauce on the side (peas?) there was a raw rosemary garnish that looked un -washed. One of our party ordered curry, was given a childs serving of watery bitter overcooked stew. A person came through the dining room wearing black with a dirty apron and wiping his nose with his bare hand, altogether an unpleasant experience that cost us a lot.
