柏林基茲高級旅館酒店(Hotel Kiez Pension Berlin)

We used to stay round the corner at the Ibis Styles but now that is closed, we needed to find somewhere new. This offers a decent room, comfortable beds and it's very much in the part of Berlin we wanted to be. WiFi was an issue, they were experiencing problems, so there was a hotspot, which didn't really work everywhere. Our room was quiet and comfortable. Perhaps a little pricey overall but then, there is a dearth of accommodation in the area

This place is a hostel. Maybe this place gets good reviews because of the location? It’s a mystery. For the price, I was expecting a decent-to-nice hotel. This is a hostel, The room is all plastic, torn vinyl chairs, teeny tiny bedside table (only one), no temperature control (the unit that sits in the closet doesn’t do anything). No coffee. A tiny bit of horrible soap in the bathroom. Really, in this era? You better have all your own toiletries. The bathroom is so tiny you can’t raise your elbows. The shower is so tiny you can barely wash your hair. The shower door is a plastic folding thing. Good luck trying to shower unless you’re a skinny woman. The reception people take forever to (1) let you in the front door after dark, and (2) come to the reception desk when you’re standing there.

The hotel was clean and in a great location with good facilities. The real let down was Nancy on reception. Upon arrival (a group of 7) we were all chatting about our journey and how happy we were with the hotel location and we were greeted by the receptionist (Nancy) with a very loud and stern, be quiet! I have not been spoken to like that since school and a bad and rude welcome to the hotel. Everything else was fine, Nancy however is a problem
