5 stars. Exceptionally clean room, outstanding staff and an unbeatable location. Everything you need is within walking distance and the surrounding shops and amenities make it the perfect spot. Friendly people throughout and an altogether excellent stay. Highly recommended.

I would love to recommend, friendly and helpful staff, the price is fare

My check-in experience at this hotel was significantly below acceptable standards due to the conduct of two members of staff. Although one male employee was professional, courteous and ultimately helpful, the behaviour of the other staff involved created a deeply uncomfortable and discriminatory atmosphere. My partner placed her hood up because she felt uncomfortable in the lobby. She was not disturbing anyone. Nevertheless, a staff member instructed her to remove it without any legitimate explanation. Shortly afterwards, another female employee approached us abruptly and demanded my partner’s ID. When I asked for the rationale, she stated, verbatim, “I believe she's underage”, delivered with a noticeably hostile and dismissive attitude. This comment was baseless, inappropriate and demeaning. A different male staff member later intervened and clarified that ID was supposedly required “due to fire regulations”. His manner was professional, and he managed the situation respectfully. However, the fact remains that his explanation directly contradicted the initial justification provided by the female employee. These conflicting narratives severely undermined the credibility of the request and reinforced the perception that we were being singled out. Although we complied once a legitimate requirement was finally explained, the earlier conduct was unacceptable. The attitude, inconsistency and targeting we experienced left us feeling judged and unwelcome. As a mixed-race couple, the disparity in treatment compared with other guests present was highly visible and concerning. While the male employee handled matters appropriately, management needs to urgently address staff training around communication standards, professionalism, and ensuring that all guests are treated consistently and without discriminatory behaviour. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this hotel.

Very good value, very friendly place Myself and my daughter had a very pleasant stay, the highlights for us was the personal, friendly service from the family throughout our stay. The pub has a nice atmosphere with a community feel. The beds and bedroom was very comfortable, although bare in mind there is several floors of stairs and there is only on the road parking. Very close to birmingham city centre and star city by car. Only difficulty we experienced was that the walls are paperthin and our neighbours were slamming doors and talking very loudly for some time past 11pm so this did affect the quality of our sleep but that isnt the owners fault and can happen in any accommodation. An improvement would be black out curtains as the blind didnt keep much light out. The shower was lovely and warm and good pressure and the little toiletries were perfectly adequate for us

great hotel, 5 dads and lads (5 year olds) made the kids feel welcome, gave them flags, let them play on pool table etc. pubs decent, fairly big. rooms fairly basic but comfy, just what you need for a one night stay. we got uber to and from villa park, £5 for 4 seater ew. only negative is the area around the hotel possibly not the nicest spot and when we stayed there no private parking so have to park on the road and it fairly busy so we had to park a fair way from the hotel

Definitely get what you pay for…maybe less. The place is quite run down. The windows are filthy and do not keep the noise of the busy road out and let in a draft. We could feel every spring on the mattress and ended up having to ***** the bed, flip the mattress(which did not have a protector and was stained) and put the duvet under the sheet to get a bit more comfort. The bar must have been directly below us and had very loud music until 12.45am. The en-suite was basic but clean, could have done with towel rails. There is no parking and had to find a space way up the road. On a positive note Staff were friendly and helpful.

No frills hotel but very clean and comfortable Check in was a breeze, Bryan checked our photo id,took our payment then explained about access after hours and directed us to our room. We had booked a room with 2 single beds and found it to be very clean and comfortable, not the biggest of rooms but we were only sleeping there so didn't bother us in the slightest. Returned about half ten to a karaoke night in the down stairs function room where bryan invited us to join in but we didn't. Had a couple of very reasonably priced drinks and listened to the very talented participants of the karaoke. The following morning had a beautiful English breakfast again very reasonably priced. All in all a great no frills hotel , clean and tidy with a great welcome.
