Room tired, e.g.toilet stained, fridge didn't work, broken chair. Biggest issue was heating - sudden extremely loud noise started (sounded like a helicopter landing). Called reception and asked for new room, told that maintenance would come and bleed radiators. Solved issue for only half an hour, then the noise started again. We were then given a different room which was okay until 7.30am next morning when the same heating noise from a neighbouring room woke us up. So disappointed, and not even a gesture as an apology.

Small standard rooms but v comfy beds. Huge bathroom with great shower. As ever, the rooms are overheated - turn it down by 5 degrees and help save the planet and a huge heating bill! Lovely and helpful staff. Ate in the bistro. Food is over priced and of mediocre quality. Had we properly planned we’d have eaten elsewhere. Check in and out v easy.

Very friendly receptionist, lovely room, delicious and efficient room service, super comfy bed and huuge bath! The only teeny weeny moan is the front door was so heavy to open when loaded with bags. Will definitely stay here again though.

Love this hotel, always stay here when in Birmingham. Nothing to fault except the rooms are starting to look a little tired. Lots of marks and scuffs on furniture so could do with updating/replacing. Rooms are always very clean though.

Disappointing service from reception when I called up in advance and when we checked out (too busy talking to a colleague to deal with us in a polite and attentive manner, as well as being a bit miserable).

Small room, noisy radiator, leaky shower and very saggy tired mattress. Very disappointed as have always rated Hotel Du Vin hotels from my experiences of the 2 in Bristol. This one was very disappointing by comparison sadly.

The hotel is difficult to access. You go up 2 steps from street level and pull open a strongly sprung door. Easy enough for somebody without luggage but a challenge for first arrival with cases and bags. The hotel is stuck in a time warp. The lift - when working- is small. Overall it’s shabby and badly in need of refurbishment. T The cleaning is poor- the Venetian blinds were caked in ancient dust. The bath tap weeped. The paintwork was chipped exposing the plaster beneath.

Bed terrible. 2 single beds pushed together at different highs, no mirror to do make up, noisy, toilet made noises all night when other people flushed toilets on floor, poorly lit room and freezing cold
