The first thing to say is the hotel's greatest asset is its location. Two minutes from the city centre and 10 minutes from the seafront. Having said that, if you have a room at the front of the building it will be noisy as Brighton is a lively place. Sleep kits are provided.
The RCP parking discount system works very well, and is very good value for money.
On the downside, the pre-check-in system (where if you arrive before 3pm you are supposed to receive a text when your room is ready) did not work for us, nor did it work for any of the other guests we spoke to. The front desk team make a big detail of this feature, and do not appear to appreciate how unreliable it seems to be.
We also had two rooms during our two-night stay as the reservations system is not sophisticated enough to allow an extra night to be added to an existing booking. This meant we had to change rooms, which was fine, but we felt both rooms would benefit from a lick of paint and the carpets could do with a decent deep clean, Bathrooms are good though, and very clean.
In both rooms something was not working. In the first it was the safe, which to be fair was fixed within 20 mins of being reported. In the second, it was one of the lights. We did not report this as other lights were all fine, but these are both basics.
We were also disappointed with the coffee shop. The coffees were lukewarm and the food, while good, was served very slowly - certainly long after we had finished our drinks.
