Das Beacon House B&B ist kein gewöhnliches B&B. Unsere Erwartungen wurden wirklich übertroffen, besser geht es womöglich nicht. Das gemütliche Zimmer mit einem Balkon mit einer direkten Aussicht über den Hafen und die Bucht von Brixham (wie auf dem Foto gezeigt). Ein eigener Parkplatz direkt am Haus, welches in dieser eng bebauten Gegend nicht selbstverständlich ist. Aber das Beste sind die Besitzer, Hervé und Nathalie, die jeden Morgen ein Meisterwerk an Frühstück boten. Mit Liebe aber auch mit tiefer Kenntnis der professionellen Küche auf hohem Niveau gemacht, z.B. perfekt pochierte Eggs Benedict mit einer selbst gefertigten, mit der Hand aufgeschlagenen Sauce Hollandaise. Jeden Morgen frische Zutaten, gute Auswahl, alles selbst zubereitet. Es ist wert, die Webseite des B&B aufzusuchen und über die interessante Geschichte der Betreiber nachzulesen.

Natation et Hervé sont des personnes vraiment charmantes, accueillantes et qui veulent vraiment faire plaisir. Les petits déjeuners sont somptueux ( de chez somptueux...) car Hervé et Nathalie cuisinent vraiment. La chambre est charmante avec une vue superbe sur la baie et le port. Tout était parfait! Tout était parfait. Rien ne manquait. Dans ne ville comme Brixham où chaque m2 est compté, nous avons pu bénéficier d’une vraie place de parking privative. Merci pour l’accueil de nos hôtes Nathalie et Hervé pour leurs bons conseils, le breakfast était royal ainsi que le logement avec une vue exceptionnelle sur le port et la ville de Brixham.

Hervé and Nathalie were born to work in hospitality. They have thought of every tiny detail to ensure that our stay was as relaxing as possible. After a short two-night stay, we leave feeling refreshed and pampered. Greeted by a smiling Hervé at the gate after parking easily in the generous car park at the rear of the B&B, we were shown the best ways to walk into town before being treated to refreshing chilled glasses of local cider whilst sitting in the beautifully appointed dining room on comfortable chairs looking out to the harbour. Chilled water is placed by the door and freely available to guests (fantastic when I came back from my run each morning), and wine glasses are also here to borrow should you fancy a tipple in your room. Walking past the lovely art and artefacts as we climbed to our room ‘Bay View’. What a view!! I could literally spend hours gazing at the view from the balcony: the boats in the harbour, the view out to sea, and the beautifully coloured houses making a tapestry against the sky. Our room had clearly been crafted by people who understand luxury. I slept better than I had in weeks in the comfortable bed. A handy plug point, bedside table and lamp is provided each side so you have everything you need. The hot drinks station even had a pot for rubbish alongside a kettle and coffee machine; fresh milk was available in the fridge trucked inside a cupboard, and the cups are just beautiful. The spacious bathroom had huge white fluffy towels, a brilliant shower (which even had conditioner provided). There was also plenty of space for putting your toiletries and a lovely little openable window with a view of the sea. All of this before I even come to breakfast!! You fill in a sheet the night before with your choices and arrange a time. And then, prepare to feast!! Freshly squeezed orange juice, freshly cooked breakfast and so many options: porridge, smoothie, freshly cooked fruit, yoghurt, full breakfast, omelettes, eggs Benedict … and each with a special tweak to make it uniquely from Beacon House: lime, local elderflower syrup, Frenglish beans. Wonderful hot chocolate, plentiful toast, fresh coffee. All served with care and love. The hosts have wonderful knowledge of the local area and are happy to share recommendations (all of which were wonderful). The elevated location enables stunning views, the route down steps into town is direct and largely on traffic free paths. There are wonderful walks and runs and restaurants serving fresh local fish. Our whole stay was lovely. We leave refreshed, rejuvenated (and a lot sad to go). Until we return …

This is an amazing excellent B & B which we keep returning to, twice this year. The rooms are very pleasantly furnished and all have balconies to sit on if the weather is obliging. This time we stayed in the Beacon room which with its high ceilings, patio window, and ‘secret’ window is a treat. The extra positive selling point of the B and B are its owners, Herve and Nathalie who make everyone very welcome and are fountains of knowledge of where to eat out in the area. Herve was a professional chef and it shows in all the choices of freshly cooked breakfast that he offers. The decision is knowing what to choose off the extensive breakfast menu! My favourites are the poached pear and yoghurt plus eggs Benedict, although the hake, egg and spinach was also sublime. We love Brixham and this B and B makes our stays there super special! On-site private parking is an added bonus, especially in a place like Brixham. Sorry Herve but we inadvertently came home with the information sheet from our room this time, we must have scooped it up by accident into our case.

I chose Beacon House B & B as it had so many good reviews, and I now understand why. Talk about a B&B with a difference. The attention to detail in the rooms and with the breakfast menu are most original and quirky. It’s where France meets Brixham. Each room has a small fridge, with fresh milk. Some rooms have small balconies with seats to admire the view. Herve cooks all the breakfasts which Nathalie serves you with aplomb. They are both great hosts and go the extra mile all the time. The view from my room was stunning. Possible clients for Beacon House need to be aware that there are 2 steep steps to get to the front door, with no handrail. There is no lift in the house. Beacon House has a car park, which is one reason to stay there, as parking in Brixham is at a premium. However the streets around the Beacon are narrow and one sometimes has to reverse to allow other cars to pass. One way of walking into the town is to use one of the steep set of steps and/or the steep streets, but remember, you have to walk back to the hotel. There are car parks in the town, but there are no concessions for holders of Blue Badges. There is a great choice of restaurants in town for an evening meal and plenty of places to visit nearby using car or bus. My only criticism of the Beacon is the poor quality of the wi-fi signal, which was very weak.
