Before we arrived the host was helpful and friendly dealing with our enquiries. It is a beautiful building with amazing views of Brixham. The breakfast was amazing and we were very happy.

This place is truly beautiful we cannot fault it at all. Pip is a wonderful host friendly nothing to much trouble. Location was perfect 5 mins from harbour. Room we had admiral room which has a veranda with a gorgeous view Breakfast was amazing You would not be disappointed at this place one word sums it up PERFECT. Thanks to Pip and his staff .

Absolutely fabulous. We went for our Golden Wedding Anniversary which was 9th August . 20 of us in total. The House was just perfect for us all en-suite facilities for every room . Our age range was Max 9 yrs old to Grandad 73 yrs old. The house was amazing beautifully decorated ideal situation plenty of car parking space and brilliant views. The walk into Brixham was downhill great going down! The children 9 to 19 were able to go off together without us worrying. During the late afternoon and evening they made good use of the fabulous games room that was a perfect solution for the age ranges involved. We self catered with pot luck both nights which also worked well.. A few cans of beer and bottles of wine were consumed while the younger ones had their own fridge full of chocolate cokes and Ironbru. Thank you Pip it’s an amazing house for a family stay. I would love to say we would like to do it again but I doubt if this weekends weather could be replicated to too our stay off. You have an amazing business in Ranscombe House long may it continue. I am very happy to give further details if anyone needs it.

Pip is a very welcoming host, the building is beautiful, our room was comfortable and well appointed, breakfast was delicious and the location is perfect for both coastal and town access. Thoroughly recommended! We were only here for one night but it would be an ideal base for a longer break too.

Although the room was quite small, it was perfectly adequate for a couple nights stay as in our case & and lovely view across the harbour and bay from a small window beside the bed. The bed very comfortable and a good size king. Bedside table on left hand side and a dressing table doubled up as the other bedside table. A wardrobe and beside that, a little table for tea/coffee making stand. Bottles of tap water a nice touch and useful. next to that was the door to the ensuite and next to that was the bedroom door. This made up the whole room, no room for a chair or extra table to sit at if you wanted to use your laptop or tablet. However, there is plenty of suitable seating in other areas in the house that you could use for this purpose. There are plenty of hooks on back of doors, a large drawer in the base of the wardrobe with quite a lot of space and hangers. On top of the wardrobe was a small TV with a remote control. The ensuite is compact but lots of storage. The corner shower was an okay size but a bit small if you are a slightly larger person as I am, then it is a tad tight but doable. The B&B house is quite charming, old world but with modern touches and some nice seating areas for the use of guests. Staff were all friendly and helpful and letting us park in the car park before our room was ready so we could go and get lunch and come back later. Everywhere including our room was very clean and tidy. The place felt very homely and welcoming. A short walk to the town and outer harbour in the other direction took about 5 minutes. It is down hill going and a uphill coming back with steps and bit steep hill to tackle. I have slight mobility issues but I managed reasonably well with a little help when needed from my husband. All in all a nice place to stay in a good location at a reasonable price.

Excellent as always! Pip is a friendly host, great room with a lovely bay view. Breakfast and service first class. Lovely views from the dining room balcony area and seating in the gardens. Honesty bar for drinks great idea! All in all superb stay!

Pip and his staff make this b&b they are friendly and welcoming. Check in is 3 put you can park in their car park from 10 onwards. Great choice of breakfast. Rooms are equipped with hairdryer bathrobe and tea and coffee making facilities Location is perfect short walk down the hill down some steps and your on the harbour. When we next return to Brixham we will definitely book here again. Tip. Don’t park under the tree

Ranscombe House was perfect for our needs , we only stayed for one night we arrived a bit early and asked to leave the car at their car park which was ok. Went into town which isn’t that far away. Pip was a great host the room was perfect very clean and comfortable, breakfast was very tasty and plenty of choice. We had a free upgrade and the view from the midships room are great. Overall we had a great stay and will definitely be back. Thank you Pip for making making us feel at home.

We visited Brixham for a three night stay to celebrate our anniversary, This property was previously 8 bedroom that has been transformed into a 9 bedroom, a quite acceptable skippers suite seems to have been made into two rooms, one is now the nautical room , again an acceptable room even if no sea view,you do get a duel aspect of property’s garden. Unfortunately we found ourselves in the other room of the skippers transformation, this is now called the skippers room, the worst room at the property, very small with a view of the neighbours lounge, small double bed,no room for bedside tables ,one table lamp on top of wardrobe , the worst feature is the on- suite, a shower so small a average size person would find it difficult to turn round, the shower cubicle door hits the small hand washing sink, protected by strips of rubber glued to the surfaces, on exiting the shower absolutely no room to dry yourself,had to open the door to find some space, Please if you are booking this property,don’t opt for the Skippers room,completely not fit for purpose, I understand that people are looking to make money in these difficult times but this type of room conversion is not the way, A word on the breakfast , a previously decent meal with quality back bacon reduced to a slice of cheap streaky was typical of cost cutting, The owner Pip is a charming man who I hope can reflect on his changes, although I did notice the pirates hat hung in the hall

The feeling you get at Ranscombe house from the minute you arrive is that this is a warm and friendly place and that much attention to detail has gone into creating that. We were met by host Pip who showed us around and made sure we knew we could contact him if there was anything we needed. Toffees in the hallway, two small but comfortable lounge areas downstairs, hot drinks in the bedroom, an honesty bar in the dining room and an invitation to make ourselves at home, were all appreciated. We had a very clean room with the most comfortable bed and lovely bedding. Walking in to the room to a sea view at sunset was magical as was waking up to it in the morning. …As was starting the day with a, beautifully cooked to order, large choice hot breakfast and accompanying choices of cereals etc.. We were also really impressed with how warm, thoughtful, kind and friendly the two members of staff we met at breakfast, Jo and Grant, were too. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Sensitive too to some of us not being very awake in the morning. They both appeared as if they enjoyed their work and genuinely want you to relax and enjoy your stay. The B&B is very well situated. An easy walk into town and the harbour, yet quiet enough to hear the birds in the morning. A huge bonus was the off road car park and as Pip warned us about parking under the bird tree, the car stayed clean and safe there. Should we return to Brixham we would most definitely stay at Ranscombe House.

We’ve just returned from our 3rd visit to this B&B having previously stayed in various places around the harbour over many years. It’s a beautiful old house with loads of character in the perfect spot for a view over Brixham, a couple of minutes walk down the hill and you’re in the harbour. The on site parking is a huge plus in Brixham. We were a group of 5 this time with our 2 children 17 and 14 and our sons’ school friend 15 & our dog. The bunk room was perfect for the boys and as the smallest of the rooms available you get use of the cosy separate lounge downstairs. My wife and I and our daughter stayed in Crows Nest 1 at the top of the house. I had to laugh at an earlier review slating this room for the low ceiling beams which gives it so much character. At 6 foot 2 it didn’t bother me at all. Hard to imagine a better host than Pip. Very welcoming with a great knowledge of the area. Nothing too much trouble and he cooks a superb breakfast to order, around ample choice for uncooked options if that’s your preference. The Honesty Bar is a nice touch, help yourself and write down whatever you have for payment when you leave, adds to the homely/welcoming feel of the place. We’ll be back…again!

Beautiful house built in 1750, we had a lovely short break, Pip the owner is very welcoming, informative and a great chef, Breakfast was gorgeous, fresh and plentiful with a great selection of local produce to choose from at a time you want it. The Rooms are also Beautiful, clean and of a very high standard, the bed and pillows were so comfortable I have come home and ordered the exact same mattress and pillows after having a sneaky look at the make., great location overlooking the gorgeous Brixham harbour. We will definately return and recommend to family and friends.

We had a lovely 3 night stay, really pleasant owner, breakfast was very nice lots of choice and great service by friendly staff. Lovely room, crisp bedding, lots of storage. and very clean and new bathroom. The place runs like a well oiled machine very organised but not regimented. We will definitely return when we come back to Brixham.

Spent Twixmas at Ranscombe House. The warmest of welcomes, beautiful house, amazing bedroom (Admirals Suite), fab enclosed garden for the dog and an excellent cooked to order breakfast. Highly recommend. having on site parking is a bonus but don't park under the tree, not sure what lives in it but its messy! Fotos are back of house and view from bedroom.
