加貝洛賓館(Gabelo Guest House)

I highly recommend Gabelo for foreign visitors. I stayed for 3 weeks in a peaceful, sunny, and airy room with an amazing view of both local mountains. The owner, Ibu Muslidar Masri, is one of the most lively and joyful people I’ve ever met! She is a retired English teacher whose former students adore her and visit her all the time. I got to know many local people through Ibu, and I loved hanging out with her and hearing her stories and philosophies of life. She also frequently brought me treats from her kitchen and beautiful garden. And one day she drove me all over for sightseeing. Overall, such a lovely and memorable experience. Gabelo is in a quieter neighborhood and I enjoyed wandering and trying many of the neighborhood food spots (Nel Kampiun Keluarga, Lontong Pical Eni, Ampera Putri Bungsu, Lontong Gulai Paku, Nasi Mak Apuk). And it’s a pleasant 20 minute walk to the center of town, about 30 minutes down into the canyon. Ibu Muslidar also owns gorgeous land in the canyon, and she is developing it as a gathering place.
