We recently stopped here whilst we came back down to Devon for a family wedding. There were 6 of us in our party and we had 2 family rooms. We were very impressed with the size of the rooms and the fact that the guest / child bed was a proper bed and not some fold up camp bed. The beds were also very comfortable. Due to the nature of our trip, we only ate breakfast here but we can say that on both days, the breakfasts were of a really high quality. We had a number of different items and a particular favorite was the smashed avocado breakfast which was served with perfectly poached eggs. The staff were all really friendly and helpful (for example, reserving us a spacious table for breakfast on the day we returned home - thanks Will) and next time we are visiting the area, we wouldn't hesitate to stop here again.

Booked a birthday meal for 10 of us. Sue and her team were great always checking in on us food was lovely. A side of ours was missing but promptly sorted by the lovely staff member and were given a drink to compensate this. would definitely recommend 👍

Staff very friendly and helpful. Good value, clean and comfortable beds. Great breakfast and discounted if you have a blue light card. An ideal location for our trip. Easy to find. Found out when talking to manager you save money when booking direct with them rather than going though booking website.

I had a very comfortable two night stay at the Inn. Sue and her staff were excellent hosts, pleasant, friendly and professional. I enjoyed my breakfasts each day. The pub atmosphere is warm and inviting. My room was large, clean and comfortable. I highly recommend the Inn.

Really lovely staff, comfortable and clean room. Easy access for M5 and other routes. Good large car park. Food good also. Very friendly and helpful even finding us the best taxi company to use when on a night out. Would definitely stay there again

I recently stayed here overnight on my way to Cornwall. This is a perfect spot to stop on your way. Upon arrival, we entered the pub and were immediately greeted by Will. He was very friendly and helpful. He checked us in with no hassle and showed us to our room. The room was much larger than expected. I've paid much more for much smaller rooms. It was clean and had everything that was needed for an overnight stay. The bed was large and very comfortable. The towels were clean and soft and the tea & coffee making facilities were sufficient for the stay. In the evening we went back into the pub for a meal. We were very well looked after by Sue who couldn't do enough for us. She was really friendly and attentive to our needs. We both had a mixed grill which was very tasty and was so large, we both struggled to finish it. We did however because it was far to good to leave. The price was very reasonable and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. After a very good night's sleep we returned to the pub for breakfast. Again we were looked after superbly by Sue. We had a full English which was excellent and again great value for money. I will definitely come back here. Thankyou all

Excellent food & a place to stay. The menus offer so much to choose from, really delicious food. The rooms are big & cosy and very clean with the most comfortable bed, I had a lovely nights sleep. Sue and her team are amazing thank you for a wonderful time at the Waterloo cross, I will definitely be back soon.

We stayed for three nights and although there were some issues with the accommodation these were swiftly resolved by Sue the manager when we made her aware . The food was good and plenty to choose from. The beds were very comfortable and we all had brilliant nights sleep. We would recommend Sue and her team at the Waterloo cross and look forward to coming back.

I have just spent 5 nights here, while away from home on business. It has been a wonderful stay, lovely room, fantastic food and amazing staff, who went out of their way to ensure I had a great stay. Will & his team were amazing. Thank you all so much.

Stayed three nights. Ate in restaurant for 3x breakfast and 1x dinner. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and are the hotel's biggest asset. The food and bar service were very good and decent value. Only gripe here is the tables always seem sticky? Seen this before were the cleaners used reacts with the table varnish. That's a shame as it doesn't feel welcoming. The room (5) was OK but not great. The bed was good and all linens nice and clean. The bathroom was a disappointment though. Flaking paint, rusty radiator and a sticky floor, plus the toilet cistern wasn't properly attached to the wall. Biggest issue was the creaking floor above the room. Really noisy at night whenever anyone moved around in the room above. Also, lots of road noise as the window doesn't seal well. Overall, an OK experience. We'd visit again for the staff service and food but would certainly hope bathrooms had been improved.

Very friendly staff . Food and service was hot and served quickly. Good selection of drinks the waitress was very pleasant and smiling. Nothing was too much trouble. I even had a desert rocky road sundae which was delicious . Will definitely be back this pub is a hidden gem

Great place to stay just off j27 m5 Friendly welcome when I came in to check in staff were amazing . When I was Shown where my room was it was lovely nice and clean and fresh. Nice size Freeview tv. Came down that night for a meal staff were amazing and friendly food came out perfectly. Good selection of drinks and a perfect and perfectly served pint of pedigree. The bed was lovely and soft had a good night sleep

This was my favorite place to stay however since Val left it has gone down hill, stayed 12th & 13th July 2024, on the Saturday morning my room was not cleaned tea and coffee not topped up. Breakfast on the Saturday waited 20 minutes to be served then 35 minutes for my breakfast, same on the Sunday morning however the breakfast was terrible, cold baked beans, the hash brown was soggy and cold coffee was not good either. This is such a shame that what was normally a pleasant stay with 1st class customer service to the shambles it has become. The breakfast waiter spent his time apologizing he definitely needs training gives the impression he does not know what he is doing, could not speak to manager.

Accommodation was OK. Staff were excellent and went out of their way to be helpful Room we stayed in could do with some attention. The door had large gaps along the bottom. The lady on reception was a gem, and Olly and Liv in the bar were really good despite working under pressure.
