We enjoyed our stay at Ravenstor. The hostel looks in need of some tic and a refurbishment though: shower out of order long-term, cracked glass in a fire door, peeling wallpaper in the dining room. We also found lots of litter left stuffed down the side of one of our beds from a previous school group that hadn't been found or removed by the staff as they prepared our room. The hostel is good value for money but don't expect hotel or BnB standards.

A beautiful location and nice big house. Great trip for children (ours are 8 and 4). The walks nearby, helpful staff, and breakfast were all highlights. Our bedroom was very cosy, clean and warm. Bathrooms were tidy and clean. Patchy wifi and mobile reception were the only lowlights. Perhaps staff could keep a supply of oil, salt and pepper in the self-catering kitchen. A great stay, thanks!

Ravenstor was the last hostel in my walking tour around Derbyshire, and what a way to finish! Magnificent views, a fine building, and restaurant quality food, with helpful and friendly staff as well. Thank you for a great stay.

A secluded hostel set in beautiful Miller's Dale. Good facilities, characterful rooms and friendly staff. Lots of lovely walks directly from the hostel. It is also possible to travel here on public transport.

The hostel is in a lovely, quiet, wooded location, is staffed by a friendly team and provides wholesome and good value meals. Plenty of space in our private room and very close to bathroom facilities.

Beautiful old character building and grounds. Very friendly and welcoming staff. The location is perfect for country walks including (David) Bellamy Bank and Monsal Trail. 15 minutes to pub but a good range for sale at reception. Highly recommended.

In a world of increasing price and decreasing trust - the openness of the YHA brand and its value is staggering. I’m very much middle aged now and feel just as welcome in a YHA that I did as a school kid. Until next time, hopefully this side of me hitting 50…

My son and I had a night away just the two of us for some quality time together. It was just what we needed. Amazing location, excellent friendly staff, spacious room that was nice and warm when we arrived. We enjoyed a lovely little evening walk from the hostel, the suggested routes in the lobby were perfect and we followed one and loved it. Bike storage was useful, and perfectly located for as ride along the Monsal Trail the following day ☺️ will be back with the rest of the family soon!

Positives: Great location and friendly staff. Negatives: Needs decorating and/or refurbishing as all a bit shabby. Breakfast was very disappointing really for the price. The worst thing however was the constant noise of a generator/extractor fan that was very loud and on all night , got very little sleep. Probably not go again. The quality of the YHA’s at least in the Peak district is pretty poor at the moment. I hope they manage to turn things around as they used to be very good.
