We just visited Waldorf Astoria Pedregal for five nights for our first visit to Cabo San Lucas and the welcome and service we received as well as the luxuriousness of the resort well surpassed our expectations. We are Hilton Diamond Members and I do extensive research when booking any vacations. I was hesitant when I saw this resort was in Mexico (because of some recent stories on the news) but after reading multiple reviews and checking several sources, I came to discover it is clearly the world renowned resort it claims to be. We began our stay from the comfort of our own home. I contacted the concierge and quickly, Dana, now our personal concierge for the vacation, began to develop an itinerary for our entire stay. We were unsure about things like airport transportation as well as dinner reservations and these were quickly handled by Dana. She also answered any questions I had regarding our stay. She even made an itinerary for us by day so we could easily follow what to do prior to arrival and most importantly once we landed at the airport as she wisely suggested booking private transportation through the hotel. Upon arrival, we found the Waldorf Astoria representative and we were whisked to the hotel in a high-end SUV (about a 40 minute ride). We had cool towels ready for us in the car to wipe our face and hands as well as chilled bottles of water. I also don’t think we carried our luggage again for the remainder of the vacation. From that point on, it was 100% luxury. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a complimentary cocktail and given a tour of the hotel while our bags were brought to the room. Our room was the definition of luxury. From the top floor, we looked out over the Pacific Ocean with our own plunge pool on the patio. The king bed was comfy and plush. We had a nice seating area to watch tv, enjoy the ocean view and also enjoy the daily guacamole, fresh salsa and chips and cervezas that were brought to our room around 4pm. Another wonderful add on was a stocked fridge! We had bottled waters, both still and sparking, sodas and juices at no extra charge. We also had a Nepresso coffee station. The bathroom also held no stops. Beautiful rainfall shower, soaking tub, double sinks and every amenity you could need. What my husband and I most appreciated is that we had service to our room three times a day: in the morning, for our afternoon guacamole snack, and then a turn down service which was coordinated for when we went to dinner. It was a true sign of luxury. Once you left your room, the luxury did not end. The room was truly just the beginning. Breakfast at Don Manuel’s was the best breakfast I have ever had while traveling. Ever. The service was absolutely impeccable but also friendly and fun. I couldn’t wait to go back! Salvador and Heriberto made my birthday breakfast the most memorable breakfast I’ve ever had!! There wasn’t any hustle and bustle, instead all smiles and an overwhelming sense of perfection compiled with a warm, personal feeling of tranquility. While the team was abundant, they were discreet and seamless in their efforts to provide individualized, exemplary service to every guest.

Pros: Beautiful and well kept resort. housekeeping did a great job in cleaning our room and turndown service. Cons: Level of service is inconsistent (we waited almost an hour to get our celebration cake, they forgot to bring our guac and chips, etc) Lack of attention to details ( we told them that we just got married and this our first thanksgiving vacay and yet they put us next to a family with screaming toddlers) Breakfast - food were tasty but why buffet style? And if i want hot meals i have to pay extra 20usd? For a hotel charging ＞1500 usd a night i would expect at least my breakfast to be “made to order”. People walking around during breakfast grabbing food etc kinda made me feel im at hilton and not waldorf. Everything is so overpriced - i get this is top of the brand hotel but pricing are beyond reason - we tried Farallon (fine dining resto) and spent at least 200 usd per person - 3 course meal + 1 cocktail drink (food wasnt great.. it was ok) - it rained that night, guests were getting wet, rain water everywhere in our plates and cutleries - and yet they didnt do anything. I asked them if we should move to covered location but their solution was to either pack our food and eat them in our room or they can give us umbrella and GUESTS can hold them whilst having dinner - totally not a fine dining experience.

Beautiful location, stunning pool + beach, great service BUT the worst culinary experience we have ever had at a 5 star hotel. We’ve stayed at the Montage, Esperanza, and the Rosewood and their food is ALL incredible. Right off the bat we paid pretty penny for fresh sea bass that was smelly and fishy tasting. Ordered a salad that was watermelon and stale Carmel popcorn. Ordered shrimp tacos that had mayonnaise and raisins on them. Ordered spaghetti and meatballs that came without any marinara sauce. There’s more but I think you get the gist. We’re actually still staying here and trying to eat out offsite as much as possible. We’re from LA and love elevated dining and cuisines of all types but it all falls flat. They would be better off sticking to fresh authentic Mexican cuisine. We love the staff and our room with a beautiful view but the food is rough.

We had a fabulous stay. We've traveled all over the world and the service and staff at The Waldorf Astoria Pedregal was tops. They were friendly, professional, and courteous. The resort was beautiful and very clean. Our room was great. We used points to book it and were given a one category room upgrade with our Hilton Diamond status. We did have an issue with one of our dining experiences. We communicated with the concierge and the issue was resolved promptly. It's a short walk to the marina and numerous restaurants, bars, shopping, and night clubs. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Franco was our taxi driver at Waldorf Astoria Cabo San Lucas. He drove us to Cocina Del Mar and offered to pick us up after dinner. He was very amicable and patient with us. I highly recommend to ask for Franco if you need a taxi.
