I had an overall good experience at this hostel but the rooms were uncomfortably warm & damp. Not sure if that reflects an issue with the ventilation/air conditioning on 1st floor or it's just the reality of living in the tropics in general, but it greatly affected the quality of my sleep. At the very least, it would be helpful to prohibit the use of strongly scented perfumes in the dorm rooms and/or allow the dorm doors to remain open during the day to make the air more breathable. The pricing was very reasonable for everything that was included & the central location. I was impressed at how clean & available the bathrooms were. I also thought the staff & night manager were nice & helpful. Would highly recommend if you can tolerate the humidity.

Excellent location. No pool but directly across from the lagoon. Quite clean, lots of bathrooms. Not a lot of common spaces but the kitchen and lounge with the balcony were excellent. Despite being the only kitchen it never got too busy. The wifi didn’t work very well in the evenings. The dorms desperately need shelves or large lockers. No baggage fits under the bed and it was cramped with bags spread across the floor.

We booked a private double which was clean, comfortable with a nice ensuite! We loved the location and despite it being on the main ***** of bars and restaurants it was very quiet in the room. We also loved the balcony in the kitchen which looked out across the ocean. We didn't use the kitchen but it was very well equipped. Would definitely recommend to anyone staying in Cairns! The discounted food and drinks in a couple of restaurants was very much appreciated!

Plus: modern and renovated place, clean kitchen and really nice common areas. Pristine location with water views, right on the esplanade’s pub walk. What leaves room for improvement: rooms are really small and smell easily. No long hours for reception, the lift cannot be used after reception is closed at 6pm. Issues with a double booking of the same bed, incompetent night manager when assistance was required to solve the problem. Dorm beds are old and there is nearly no storage space for luggage if in a top bunk and the room is full. Prices are quite high for the quality of room that is offered. I would recommend to book a private room.

Fantastic location! My friends and I shared a quad dorm for a night. The room was very small and would have been challenging if we were staying any longer. I slept fine, but two of my friends said they were uncomfortable on the mattresses. There was an aircon and fan in the room, which was welcome, although the room did smell quite damp. The hostel was pretty clean and tidy, and I thought the decor was nice. The staff I dealt with on the front desk were super friendly. The only real downside was the guests who stayed up late, drinking on Level 1, and who left their mess everywhere, but the hostel itself was worth the price.

Kim was really outstanding in her service. I had accidentally booked into a mixed dorm that was full of males, and when she knew I was coming for a funeral, she went absolutely above and beyond to accommodate me. I ended up having a room to myself with waterfront views. This is not the norm, so I was ever so appreciative. Apart from that I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the building is perfectly situated and surrounded by cool things to see and do. Thanks Global. I’ll be back again. 😘

Walking distance to most places. Super clean. Excellent room. Comfortable bed. Had a queen room with it’s own shower. Would recommend and would absolutely stay there again.

The room was very clean and tidy when we arrived, the kitchen is cleaned every day and there is so much space in the kitchen. When we arrived our bags were lost on our flight so we had nothing. The lady behind reception was so helpful and let us go through lost and found and take anything we needed, she then washed and dried this for us free of charge. From having a very stressful day to being put at ease so easily, we could not thank her enough. Highly recommend.
