I'll summarise. We were a party of 10. Our organiser asked if vegan options were available when arranging our lunch as I wouldn't have joined them if there was no vegan meal. I ordered a soup for a starter and 4 others had fishcakes. I never received my soup. The main meal came in dribs and drabs and we had to ask for sauces as we weren't asked. A small bowl of vegetables (hardly enough for 5, let alone 10) was set at the far end of the line of tables. A single small bottle of water was provided and the server stated he had brought the water when more was asked for. I paid for my partner and I at the end. She had fishcakes for a starter and we each had what amounted to 3 small flat mushrooms with a bit of ratatouille on top. That came to £40. We left to go home so I could get something to eat.

Room was beautiful, really appreciated the fresh milk in the fridge for my coffee. Unfortunately that was much needed following a faulty fire alarm overnight which wasn't handled well with no real apology from the venue. Disappointing, but hopefully now resolved for future guests.

We went for dinner with friends. Knowing that the restaurant can get busy we had booked in advance. Everything about our dining experience at The Crown Inn was first class. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived and quickly shown to our table. Every member of the team was working hard to ensure their guests had a great time. The restaurant itself is a lovely room, well decorated and very clean. Service throughout the evening was fantastic. It was efficient, timely and always with a smile. The menu offers a good choice. The difficulty was deciding which of the enticing dishes to go for. Our food was absolutely outstanding, well presented, good size portions and very tasty. The bread deserves a special mention ……….. more please. We’ll be back. Please go and see for yourself, you’ll not be disappointed.

We arrived at the attractive property at 5pm. We waited several minutes to be greeted because there was only one member of staff and she was serving behind the bar. She showed us to the lovely, large Elton bedroom. It was quite dark but I’d expect this in a thatched property. The bed was large and comfortable; the linen was okay but for £260 a night I would expect it to be better quality. The bathroom was very poor. A broken bath panel, mouldy grout and sealant, a filthy glass screen seal, frayed white towels which had a blue tinge. Not a £260 bathroom! The breakfast was very good and served in a sweet room off the bar. However the dinner, at £40pp extra, was average. I ordered crispy beef which wasn’t crispy at all and the duck was quite dry. When I mentioned it to the waitress all she said was ‘I’ll tell the chef’. I did try to speak to someone about our issues as we left, but I couldn’t find anyone. I had to leave the room key on a table. In total we paid £340 for two people for dinner, bed and breakfast in a small village, not in a very touristy place and to be honest, I felt ripped off.

The room was really special, Care has obviously been taken to design the experience and as the room was super, so we're the team in the pub. Well done. I will be back.

Fantastic Hotel! Absolutely brilliant restaurant and well presented. I'd give the Crown Inn a 6 star rating!! Would highly recommend this place. What a find!! We'll done to the staff, kind, friendly and the food was sensational. Will definitely be back if I'm in the area. Top ratings!***** *
