白鹿鄉村旅館(The White Hart Country Inn)

Just visited for a Sunday roast for a family get together. Chose this pub as we have come here over the last few years and a very positive experience the last time was Dec 2022. Start with the positives waitress was very pleasant and took our order quickly and they were helpful. Now the Bad!!! We ordered 2 x roast pork and 4 x roast beef, £15.95 and £16.95 prices 1 x duck Salad 2 x Cajun Chicken. Meals came out quickly the duck was nearly non existent and hard by all accounts and the pork dinners were pork medallions so not from a pork roast, the beef was absolutely diabolical, it had definitely not come from a joint. It had been put in the microwave!!! Yorkshire pudding was OK, veg was carrots, cabbage and courgette which looked pre packed, again microwaved, Roast potatoes were OK not the best I have had again I suspect from a packet. I told the pleasant waitress that this was probably my worst roast dinner in a pub and will not be returning. Refused to pay full price for the 4 x roast dinners, the manager wasn't even present and had to be called to approve the removal of 1 roast beef as compensation, considering there was beef left on all 4 plates! You cannot charge prices like that for roast dinners when its out of a packet! Alarm bells should have rung when we walked in as the place was 1/4 full at 1pm on a Sunday. This pub has always used to be full and the food was great, maybe its changed hands. Steer Clear we wont be returning......

Visited as a large family group, was really happy to see my favourite Nachos on the menu. What a disappointment, £14.50 for squirty bottle cheese, guacamole and unbelievable squirty bottle sour cream. So much for freshly prepared meals. It was a massive disappointment.

We booked the White Hart as we were going to a wedding locally. We enjoyed our 2 night stay very much. The staff were very professional and friendly. We had dinner there the first night, which was enjoyed by us all. I had the chicken, ham and leek pie and sweet potatoes…. Which was delicious. The breakfasts were equally as good. The rooms were adequate for what we required, a bit tired but we didn’t spend much time in them. We parked our car in the car park, and the hanging baskets were the first thing we saw, they are big and beautiful. The only thing that let it down were the ****s in the garden which were very noticeable. Overall a lovely and enjoyable stay, we would definitely return.

Fabulous food nicely presented. Polite and friendly waitress. Cutlery and table linen clean and not marked. Lovely atmosphere. The only negative is the 10% service charge added to your bill with no mention about it, that I find to be unpleasant. I'll always leave a tip of 10%+ for a great meal and service, but to impose this is rude.

Although the pub looked nice enough the room we were given was just awful. Very small poorly furnished draughty and generally depressing to be in. They requested payment up front and refused a refund when we decided to cut our losses and go elsewhere. Check before you pay!

Very noisy Road didn't get any sleep very nice and friendly staff would not recommend anybody to stay if they want a good night sleep

It was a special birthday so 4 of us went for dinner. The staff were all very friendly and helpful . The restaurant was clean and pretty. We pre ordered the tomahawk steaks so that the restaurant were able to pre smoke them, and what a great choice that was . It was the best steak I have eaten flavoursome tender and plenty of it. Add to that there is Parking on site and all very reasonably priced we have found a real gem and will definitely be going back x

Fell upon this place whilst lost. Travelling from Alicante to Manchester, lost, no phone, no satnav. Walked in to a warm welcome, the atmosphere was friendly. All the people around were helpful. The locals helped me (after several pints) on the right path and with a smile on my face. Great place, the blonde lady and husband - thank you..x

Terrible terrible food it’s disgusting service was ok if you didn’t want any never ever would I go here again it was a shame was really hopefull sorry to say the new chef needs to stop cooking please do not waste your money in here maybe it was z off night but in this game that c as n not happen
