沙努海濱旅館(Shanu's Seaside Inn - A Guesthouse, 100 Metres to Candolim Beach)

Los dueños son poco agradables y no ofrecen ningún servicio. No hay comida ni bebidas. Al principio pensé que sería un lugar bucólico para aislarse puesto que tiene un caminito que lleva a la playa. Por la noche comprobé que no es un lugar seguro. Sobre las 20:00 horas un grupo de hombres comenzó a beber enfrente de mi ventana (las ventanas no tienen cristales y las cortinas son transparentes) yo estaba bastante intimidada y no salí de la habitación y apagué la luz. Sobre las 23:00 se fueron y respiré tranquila. A las 2:00 de la mañana regresaron gritando y cantando, pudieron música. Sentía como si estuviesen el lado. De hecho estaban justo en mi puerta. Escribí un mensaje al dueño para que les pidiese que se fueran a sus habitaciones. No me respondió. A la mañana siguiente cuando estaba yéndome a la playa me encontré al dueño y me dijo que quería que me cambiase a otra habitación donde estaría más tranquila. Le dije que yo estaba cómoda y que con debía hablar sería con los hombres que bebían y hacían fiesta. Insistió en que me cambiase de habitación en aquel momento. Me fui a hacer la maleta y tú e que cancelar mis planes. La Neva habitación estaba en el segundo pido por lo que al menos nadie podía estar gritando en frente de mi ventana. Cual fue mi sorpresa cuando al llegar a mi habitación por la tarde veo que tengo dos mensajes. El primero me pedía que pagase más dinero por la habitación. El segundo me amenazaba diciendo que si no pagaba más dinero me tenía que cambiar inmediatamente a la antigua habitación. Les dije que me devolviesen el dinero, que me quería ir. Me dijeron que no me lo podían devolver porque a esas horas no podían alquilar la habitación y la dueña me trató muy mal, escoltada por dos hombres me hacía reproches. Me cambié de sitio y no recomiendo shanu’s a nadie.

Shanu's is a charming, simple guest house with friendly and helpful staff and owner and a fantastic location down a quiet lane well away from the madness of the main road. It is on a peaceful unspoilt stretch of beach reached down a short footpath. There are two beach shacks (thankfully no loud music or ghastly neon to spoil the evenings), one of which has fantastic food (D'Mellos). We ate there almost every meal of our 14day stay and were never disappointed. Highly recommend this place if you want a peaceful stay in Goa but not too far from shops and sights.

When planning the final, Candolim section of our trip to Goa, Shanu's first caught my eye as it seemed to be in a good location but it was difficult to find many reviews from a UK tourist's perspective. Despite this I made a booking for a 1st floor Queen room and it proved to be a very good decision. Shanu's is a large building surrounded by beautiful gardens, located in a quiet, mainly residential area with a couple of other similar guest houses nearby. It is two minutes walk to the beach, 5 minutes to the main road and 10 minutes to Candolim beach road. On checking in we received a friendly greeting before being shown to our room where we were handed our WiFi passwords and 5 large bottles of water, one for each day of our stay. The room had a balcony, accessed via sliding glass doors with insect screens and was equipped with a comfortable double bed, effective quiet air conditioning, a fridge, a kettle and there were plenty of sockets dotted around the room. The modern ensuite bathroom was fitted with a great shower that provided hot water any time of day and room cleaning was carried out whenever required by leaving our key at reception, who also organised a very reasonably priced taxi to take us to the airport. We enjoyed our stay at Shanu's enormously and wouldn't hesitate to stay there when we next visit Candolim.

I stayed in Candolim on a few occasions during a several month stay in Goa, and really enjoyed the brief time I spent at Shanu's. The room was basic but comfortable (as to be expected for the price), and the outside seating area set amongst the owner's beautiful garden was a great place to relax before sleeping. Breakfast was in the beach shack they've recently opened just a couple minutes' walk from the property which has stunning views of the beach/sea early in the morning. Considering how close it is to the beach, it's very quiet, and far enough up up the beach to be away from the madness that can take over. Thoroughly recommend and wish I'd stayed longer!
