查爾斯酒店(The Charles Cafe & Guesthouse)

Delicious dinner in a beautiful setting with the festive lights glowing as the sun went down, and the buzz of the outside seating and a Mediterranean feel to the colourful area providing a romantic, relaxed vibe to our final evening in South Africa. Staff and a menu that cares about the provenance of their food and the wellbeing of their customers. The curry, camembert and bobotie were all delicious - but the new starter of burrata and local, in season tomatoes stole the show!

We found this little gem when we visited Cape Town four years ago and we loved it. First thing we did when we arrived was go to the apartment drop off our luggage and straight to Cage Charles for lunch, we was not disappointed. It is still the same owner and after that day, we walked to the cafe every morning for breakfast which we can highly reccomend. The staff are so lovely and welcoming and to sit under the old tree eating breakfast is a wonderful start to the day. The granola is home made, the almond croissants are warm and wonderful. Andrew likes the classic breakfast with soft poached eggs as is the avocado toast with soft poached eggs, very generous servings as well. It is very popular so I would recommend booking Our next trip to wonderful Cape Town is planned and we shall be visiting once again.

The Charles was a fantastic find. Its lcation is very convenient. Having the cafe/restaurant downstairs was perfect and the food was wonderful. I can't sing the praises of the staff enough. They accomodated my multiple extensions without an issue and were always happy to great me. By the end of my 10 day stay they truely felt friends and family.

Nice place to relax, in a very beautiful, colourful neighborhood. The room was full of light and had a beautiful view. Nearby you can find restaurants, bars and shops. The staff is very helpful and kind

Any worries about first trip to South Africa dissolved at The Charles. There is always a welcome at the door, exceptional service and beautifully presented food.... works of art on a plate ... try the ostrich or bobotie. Very comfortable room, pleasant roof terraces, easy walk to V &A area. Special shout out to Bronwyn, Justine, Thando for their hospitality. Great value. 3 nights seemed too short

Do not stay at this guesthouse. Management appalling not interested in guests welfare only interested in money from guests! Sent an email to the management no response. Charge London prices Cape Town. Breakfast not included. Nothing special about the place. Building needs maintenance shower broke and mould noted in the bathroom needs improvement regarding security. No parking facilities have to pay for parking if you hire a car. Noisy at night, raised this with the management but not interested blamed it on Airbnb in the area , no follow up.

I stayed for two months at The Charles guesthouse and what a heart warming experience was that🙏 The staff is friendly, caring, helpfull and have a good sense of humor. Search no more, this is the place you wanna spend your Capetown experience, 'cause they are the cherry on top!

the location is quiet, cozy and safe. The staff is relaxed, service oriented and attentive to the guests. When it was cold there was a cozy fireplace. The breakfast and lunch are delicious. There is delicious wine to taste. The room is clean and the bed is good.

My stay at the Charles was quite pleasant. The staff is really friendly and attentive, coffee is great and so was the room. I stayed in Room 27 across the road and it had everything you need for a stay in town. The location is fantastic, though noisy in the evenings, especially on a weekend, but again - it‘s in town. Lots of nice restaurants, bars and coffee places are around. All in all: I‘d stay there again.
