Our experience at this hotel went above and beyond our wildest expectations! The hotel's exquisite location grants you a balcony view of the ocean and the majestic Table Mountain as a backdrop. The level of service we received was truly exceptional, leaving us thoroughly impressed. The rooms were impeccably clean, and the range of amenities provided was more than generous. The rooms themselves strike a perfect balance between spaciousness and coziness, creating a truly inviting atmosphere. A noteworthy feature that sets this hotel apart is the complimentary mini bar, offering a variety of snacks and drinks – a rare find. What's even more remarkable is that these snacks are not only delicious but also cater to vegan and gluten-free preferences. Without a doubt, we are already making plans to return to this outstanding establishment in the future.

I’ll just leave this unanswered email right here… Dear Team I wanted to write to you directly before leaving a negative review of my recent stay which was incredibly disappointing. My experience of The Bay 10-15 years ago had always been positive, having stayed there previously and celebrated occasions with friends and enjoyed the spa. This year my sister and I travelled from the UK and decided to do a stay at The Vineyard and The Bay to show my son two very different parts of Cape Town, staying only two nights at The Bay due to it being more expensive than The Vineyard - something we accepted due to it being a 5 star hotel. There are a number of issues I wanted to raise with you before leaving a review and I’ve summarized them below. check in was delayed with no reason being given for the delay. It should be noted that Fyona did apologise and offer a drink on the house to compensate. We of course would have preferred to just be seen to our room at check in time as expected The day bed was too small for my son and when this was raised we were offered another room which was appreciated, however, by this point it was 8:30pm and when we were told by Hilton that he would need 30 minutes or so to get the room ready (not sure what was required as it looked like it was ready) and that he would notify us when it was ready, we were then pretty much abandoned until it got so late that we had to find someone to remind them we were waiting for the room. By this point it was way past my son’s bedtime. On the way to the room we then discovered someone had vomited in the lift and all over the carpet near to the glass doors. The porter wheeled our luggage through the vomit. I understand the hotel has no control over the vomit being there however the clean up job did nothing to hide the smell in the corridor for the duration of our stay and I think this should have been dealt with immediately by professional cleaners. The rooms and the hotel are extremely tired. There are missing tiles in the pools, the toilet seats are not fitted properly, the toilet roll holder in room 218 is a complete mess. There is dirt around all the plugs. A 5 star hotel should be immaculate and The Bay is so far from that now and it was extremely disappointing to be met with a hotel which genuinely looked tired and messy and like it needs a complete renovation. There was even a cigarette butt on the carpet, a dirty plaster by the pool, to name a few. My sister was looking forward to a bath and the plug didn’t work so that wasn’t possible. The service around the pool was terrible. We ordered bottled water twice which never materialized. We requested mimosas and we were told there was no orange juice. On our final day, just before having to leave for our flight we ordered calamari and chips for my son. The chips arrived and the calamari didn’t. We had to request the calamari a few times and were told it had been forgotten. We forgot to empty the safe which contained our passports.

Per la nostra ultima settimana di vacanza in sud Africa, abbiamo deciso di passare 3 giorni sulla costa in questo hotel… La cosa che ci ha stupito di più qui in Sud Africa è stata la gentilezza e cortesia delle persone e la disponibilità del personale di servizio… ecco questo non accade in questo hotel, il servizio è pessimo sono maleducati, incapaci, lenti e scontrosi… L’hotel è in una buona posizione, ma la struttura è vecchiotta, avrebbe bisogno di una vera restrutturazione e ammodernamento, manca spesso l’acqua calda, il frigo in stanza far un rumore fortissimo, impossibile dormire. Ma il peggio per noi è stato la pulizia soprattutto del bagno, della moquette, del balcone esterno per non parlare delle piscine e il lettini… il bagno si può fare al mattino presto quando vengono pulite, poi durante la giornata non vengo più pulite… l’acqua diventa opaca.. ma soprattutto ci sono gabbiani ecc che ci bevono, che si lavano e che fanno pupu dentro… e nessuno dei numerosi camerieri o addetti alla piscina, che stanno tutto il giorno a guardare il telefono, pulisce… le lasciano così fino a fine giornata… piene di piume, cacca su fondo e sui bordi! I coprilettini in spugna sono vecchi, macchiati… Un punto positivo lo darei alla cucina, sia la colazione che il pranzo ( a parte la lentezza) sono buoni e genuini! Non credo ci tornerò in questo hotel.

We stayed at the Bay hotel for 10 days and used it as a base. We had a lovely room with a patio overlooking the main pool. The bedroom was spacious and the bathroom very modern and the room was cleaned well each day. The buffet breakfast and cooked to order breakfast was very good. The staff were very friendly and courteous especially Siphos who welcomed us every morning at breakfast with a lovely smile and was extremely helpful. The pools were pretty quiet most days and there was no rush for sun beds. The cocktails were competitively priced and very good. The only negative was that the pools were so cold, even when it was really hot, you wouldn’t want to lounge in it. That aside we really enjoyed our stay and will return.

We stayed recently for a family wedding/holiday in Cape Town. We were anxious leading up to our staying having read some of the recent reviews and we're worried if we had made the right choice for our stay but thankfully I'm pleased to say from our arrival until our last moments there we had a lovely stay. Every member of staff who we encountered were lovely and nothing was too much trouble, we had a sea and mountain view room which was lovely (452) spacious, clean and serviced daily, complimentary champagne and snack on arrival in our room, fridge/water replenished daily. We had food/drinks throughout the hotel and poolside and also room service all received with no issue, breakfast always went smoothly. Big shout out to all members of staff, keep up the good work

This is the third time I’ve stayed at the Bay Hotel and I have to say the service does keep diminishing. I arrived before check on as we had meetings and left my luggage and asked if they could take to my room when it is ready which is pretty standard for most 5 stars I’ve stayed. I was declined this request and told it is not a service they provide even though they have a number of porters. Rooms and lovely hose keeping immaculate. The hotel has been slowly upgraded the rooms and they are to a great standard and as always the views are fantastic. Service in the bar and by the pool is extreme slow and the same for the restaurant. At the core these are easily fixable situations to make and otherwise fantastic hotel great. The facilities are top notch including the multiple pools and paddle courts and you can’t beat the location so I would advise a stay is worth it but for the price point I would expect more from the service.

The hotel gave us a room that was right next to the air conditioning compressor. You can imagine the noise as if you had a hairdryer lying on your bed. Even the hotel staff confirmed that the noise was unacceptable. No new room, no apologies, no discount. We didn't sleep a wink all night. Finally there was no warm water in the shower the next day.

The Bay Hotel in Camps Bay proved to be a stark contrast between expectation and reality. Its prime location holds promise, but the experience falls considerably short of its 5-star claim. We had two rooms to our name: a sea-facing suite and another termed as "mountain facing". The sea-facing suite, though boasting a generous balcony with potential for relaxation, was a letdown. The balcony, which could have been its redeeming feature, was rendered unusable, littered as it was with bird droppings. To further dampen the experience, the room's proximity to a perpetually busy road meant that our nights were frequently interrupted by street parties and cars with blaring music. The "mountain facing" room was misleading at best. Far from the tranquil mountain views we had hoped for, our windows opened up to an unappealing Padel court! Wi-Fi, an expected standard, especially in upscale establishments, was painfully slow. It felt like a step back in time, and not in a good way. The evident lack of maintenance was perhaps the most concerning aspect. An overall air of neglect made us question the establishment's 5-star status. In summary, The Bay Hotel didn't live up to its billing or price tag. It's not an experience we'd like to repeat or recommend. There's much left to be desired.
