Perfect, spotless, amazing hotel in a super great location! Antonio met us upon our arrival with a welcome drink. We knew immediately he was there for anything we needed. His staff also went above and beyond!! There was someone in the lobby area 24/7 to offer their assistance. The hotel is gorgeous and the view is spectacular! Cleanliness 10/10. Surprising that you can order off the menu for their complimentary breakfast, and they also have a buffet with more delicious food. They have 24/7 room service, and they do everything for you! My husband was on his way downstairs to get 2 Cokes and was stopped and told, “I will get them, and bring them to your room”. I have never stayed at a hotel with hospitality even close to what they offer here. I rate this hotel 20 out of 10 stars!❤️
Pluses: 1. Great location a short walk from the village center. 2. Terrific vew of the sea from the small balcony. 3. Pleasant staff. 4. Quiet. 5. Clean. Minuses: 1. An awkwardly shaped room that made moving about difficult at times. There is one place in our room where it was impossible for two people to pass at the same time. 2. The bathroom was very small, and the shower is a joke. My wife and I are of average size, and neither one of us could take a shower without banging our elbows against the plastic doors. I could not bend down to wash my legs and feet. I finally opened one of the doors, getting the floor wet but at least getting a somewhat decent shower. 3. Our balcony was quite small. Just enough room for a couple of chairs and a very small table. 4. Other than the small balcony there are no outside areas of the hotel at which to sit, enjoy the view, and relax. There also is no sitting area inside. 5. The breakfast is pretty mediocre. The eating area, while adequate, is nothing to write home about. 6. Because we were taking some things from one home to another, our luggage was pretty heavy. There was no one to help with the luggage. I am in pretty good shape for a 70 year old, but it wasn't fun getting the suitcases up and down the fairly narrow stairwell with turns in it. Bait and Switch? We originally reserved a room at Hotel Belvedere and Tre Re, down at the Marina Grande. A few weeks before our trip, in contacting me with some information, hotel personnel mentioned something like ”as we previously told you, we moved you to the La Prora.” No reason was given. They had not told us previously. That was the first we heard of it. I responded that we had reserved the Belvedere because we liked the location and it sounded very pleasant, and that we wanted to keep our reservation there. The hotel then responded that the Belvedere had to close (no reason or dates of closure given), and we were assured that the La Prora provided all of the same amenities and qualities as the Belvedere. From reading reviews, that does not appear to be true. For one thing, the balconies at the Belvedere are described as being quite large and pleasant. We walked by the Belvedere. It looked like it could have been closed for quite a long time, and from before we made our reservation. I do not know if that is the case or not. I do know that after our stay at the La Prora I received an e-mail from the hotel requesting that I review the Belvedere.
Review by Gerrit N from August 2023, was spot on. We have traveled to the Amalfi coast many times and always have had a very positive experience with hotels being as advertised for the price. This one was underwhelming. Not a bad hotel, but expected a 4 star and it was not, especially for the price. The room was not well appointed, no robes, comforter, and very uncomfortable mattress. No extra supplies in the room, towels, toilet tissue, etc. it is close enough location to the square, restaurants and shopping, too close to take a taxi, but still a ten minute walk. The beach is many steps down the the iconic marina, steep, and only for the fit. We were fine to walk down, back up was more challenging in the heat, would taxi back next time. Breakfast is not bad, just worst in all of Italy at our many stays. Pool area is mediocre. Hotel is very quiet and sleepy at night with no bar to get a nightcap. The first night there were too very noisy dogs upstairs ( they should have been on the main level). The staff was very nice and apologetic. The staff is very helpful but did not agree with their restaurant recommendations, research your own. This was our first trip to Capri, and happy we took friends recommendation to not just come for a day trip, it’s very nice at night. Even in September, many people, many tours, but hear much worse in summer. Summary: If you are willing to spend 4 star$$, for a 3 star experience, you won’t be disappointed with this hotel.
This family run hotel, is the best hotel in Capri. Here are are the best reasons to stay here: A: Nicola, the manager. Is one of the warmest and kindest people you will ever meet. There is nothing impossible for him. He should teach a class on how to do hospitality correctly. He helped us out with lost phones, mixed up luggages, reservations at beach clubs and so much more. B: the location of this hotel is unbeatable. Overlooking Marina Piccolo, the yachts and Faraglioni. There are complimentary shuttles to the town and to the port. Also since they are accecible by their own shuttle, porter service isn’t necessary. C: the pool and the food - to have a nice pool to cool off to was a blessing. The breakfast buffet on the balcony was amazing was was the lunch menu by the pool. A few areas of improvement: A: the rooms are bare and could use an upgrade. We were not expecting luxury, but some basics amenities and decorations would help warm up the rooms. For example a separate shampoo, conditioner and body was instead of just a body wash B: being that it’s family run, there were staff members that I assume were family that were unhelpful such as the cranky uncle at the pool and the young lady at the reception who kept giving us a no answers to everything. We will be back soon. We loved our stay here
