Overall, our stay was 'fine', but there were a few things that felt off about our stay especially for the price.
Upon entering the room, I noticed a lot of dust on specific areas close to the bed, and on the desk. There were also sticky marks left on surfaces from a previous guest. The tub also had tarnishes that suggested it hadn't been thoroughly cleaned in a while. These details were off-putting, but I decided not to make a fuss about it with the property as they seemed unapproachable to begin with.
My check-in was strange. I stay in a lot of hotels for work all over the world, and when I checked into Kimpton Grey, I felt like my presence was annoying for the check-in attendant. I was not greeted with enthusiasm, or even pleasantries. Instead, it felt cold, mechanical, and I don't even think the attendant greeted me or looked me in the eye. It was akin to purchasing gum at a corner store counter at the end of an employee's shift. I'm not trying to be harsh, I'm really just trying to convey that the whole thing felt transactional, rather than me feeling like a 'guest' - which, to be honest, is a nice feeling when you're staying somewhere that isn't home. Customer service really matters to me in hospitality, and even at a basic level, Kimpton Grey just wasn't accommodating.
When I asked politely about the lack of bottled water/anything in the minifridge in the room, the question was met with another cold response by a different attendant. I was just curious...
