What a wonderful guest house. Ranks up there amongst one of the best we have stayed at. Jacqui and Tim are fantastic hosts and make you feel so welcome and at home. The house is full of history and character yet very comfortable and beautifully decorated. Our room (Raupo) was lovely and very quiet. The cooked breakfast was perfect and it was lovely to chat with the hosts and other guests to get ideas of what to do and where to eat (the Chefs Choice 5 course menu at Ma Maison was an absolute winner). All in all a top guest house in an area of outstanding beauty. Definitely highly recommended.

I can't praise this enough. A beautiful house with the most lovely hosts who make you feel so at home. The food is delicious and the environment is so relaxing. One of the best holidays I've had. Je ne peux pas en faire assez d'éloges. Une belle maison avec les hôtes les plus charmants qui vous font sentir comme chez vous. La nourriture est délicieuse et l'environnement est tellement relaxant. Une des meilleures vacances que j'ai eues.

Our stay at French Bay House was the perfect start to our New Zealand adventure. The house is wonderfully historic and beautifully maintained, with delightful bedrooms, a truly comfortable guest lounge and a tranquil garden. The host and hostess Tim and Jacqui are welcoming, helpful and generous with their time, introducing us to the areas restaurants and excursions. Our itinerary only allowed as to stay two nights, which is a pity as it would have be gorgeous to stay longer. Faultless. Michael and Debbie Foster, UK

This was the perfect place to start our five and a half week tour of New Zealand. Our hosts were friendly and helpful, the property so pretty and beautifully decorated and the breakfasts were delicious. We really didn't want to move on.

Beautiful house with amazing hosts. The location is superb and the house very welcoming. Breakfast was excellent and cooked fresh every day. Genuine warm welcome from the owners and it felt like being at home- right down to lighting the log burner in the lounge at night when the temperature dropped. Highly recommended.

This is a most interesting and beautiful period property - and Tim (and Jacqui) are welcoming hosts. The front garden was an absolute picture of a cottage garden full of hollyhocks and roses. Central location is great for getting to the wharf and for strolling around in the evening.

Enter French Bay House through the colourful garden of dahlias and hollyhocks and into a world of aesthetic glory. From the golden botanical wallpaper to the stained glass and lead light windows - no matter where you looked, beauty surrounds. Beyond beauty however, Jacqui & Tim have created a space which felt both personal yet welcoming to others; their wedding photos on display and Chinese masks invite you into their world. I did not realise that hosting could be such an art until seeing Jacqui in action; she is a truly talented woman and her breakfasts are to die for. Thanks for making us feel so wonderfully welcome.
