STAY HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK. The room at this resort harmed my children, was extremely poorly maintained and the customer service, and lack of care from management, was the worst I have ever experienced. We paid over $600 a night to stay in a 2 bedroom apartment and here were all the issues we experienced: - The room had multiple maintenance issues, many of which are a health and safety concern, and two issues brought physical harm to our children: there was an issue with their fridge which did not keep our food at a safe temperature causing our children to be sick. After bringing this to their attention there was no concern showed for the wellbeing of our children, no apology made, instead they told us that our matter was not urgent and, even worse, placed the blame on us, accusing us of “tampering” with their appliance. Why I would tamper with an appliance to cause my own children to be sick is unfathomable to me and it is clear that placing the blame on the customer was to avoid the very reasonable request I made of being reimbursed for the food that was wasted due to their faulty fridge ($81 for fridge items and $62 for breakfast out when we discovered that the milk had gone off despite being in date and only recently being opened). A small compensation in the scheme of an over $6600 stay. My child is still suffering medically a month after the stay and the manager has told us to employ a solicitor and that they will not compensate us. The hot water tap in the ensuite was broken, when rotating the tap to turn it off, it never turned to be completely off, instead it continued to rotate and the hot water came back on full blast scalding our child (a plumber came 3 days later to fix it, there was no apology made based on the harm that resulted). After the ensuite shower issue we then used the main bathroom shower which was blocked and caused flooding all over the bathroom and carpet into the hall (carpet remained uncomfortably wet for 2 days after this incident). Other maintenance issues included: the light globe in the laundry was not working upon arrival, there were insufficient kitchen utensils / supplies which was resolved when we informed them (one would think this would be checked beforehand), the child safety chain on the loungeroom blinds was broken, the door stop on the front door was broken, there were stains all over the carpet, holes in almost every wall, ripped cushions on the outdoor furniture, and the cot supplied (at additional cost) was musty and had cobwebs on it requiring me to clean it. - The spa in the common area was filthy. - Check in time was 2pm, at 2pm the room wasn’t ready, it was still being cleaned. Reception said that they would message us when the room was ready. Never received a message. - The room was supposed to supply milk, dishwasher powder, dishwashing liquid and laundry liquid. These were not supplied and we had to request them. The milk had not been delivered and then was never supplied. For your own
We're deeply disappointed with our stay at the Maldives Resort. I considered cancelling when we got into our room, but it was after hours & wasn't worth it after the trip here to find new accommodation on such short notice. Upon arrival (after hours), all was well & went smoothly for booking in. The gentleman at the counter was lovely. We went up to the apartment to find our accommodation was not at all what was described or depicted on the website. Which is misleading & deceptive. The walls were putrid, with splatter marks of filth & stains. You can clearly define the difference between wear & tear & filth. The walls, switches, windows & power points would come up a treat with a wipe over with sugar soap & windex. The kitchen floor was sticky & the fridge had old food crumbs in it & the seals were dirty too. There were fingerprints everywhere over the kitchen cupboards & bench tops as well. We had to clean every dish & utensil we needed to use as they too were not clean & stained. Even the plug to use in the sink was filthy - we couldn't believe it, it was like several people had stayed & the room hadn't been cleaned or something, except for a quick vacuum & sheet change. We feel as though a backpackers would have been cleaner than this room. Yes, it may appear tidy as in everything is in its place, but it was so far from clean or up to a standard of a resort accommodating guests. The lamp didn't work (bulb must be blown). The ceiling fan blades were filthy - you can see it in the pictures I took. Everything felt sticky & dirty. As for the TV, this is a bit of an OH&S issue with leads hanging out of the wall like that. You need to have a proper power point, not a hole in the wall through the plaster, this is NOT what a resort accommodation would have. I haven't even gotten to the bathroom or bedroom yet. The bathroom wasn't very clean either, with grime, dust, mildew & mold. We understand you're near the beach, but we reside near a beach & this doesn't occur with proper cleaning. Again this room too had splatters of filth on walls. The walls were all half botched and not patched up properly. The bedroom: Again walls were grotty, fan dirty, bedside lamps covered in dust & dirt. It was like the balcony was cleaner than the inside space. Now that's saying something. The next day, we came back from a day out exploring to find someone had taken our allocated car space. I approached the gentleman at the front desk as my husband patiently waited in the car park for me to find out what was going on. The gentleman on the desk said to move our car to space 26, which was on the other side of the car park away from the lift. He said he'd leave a notice on the car that had taken our space, which we assumed the car would eventually be moved. But the next morning the car was still there, without a note on it. Later that day we returned hoping our original allocated space would be free again, still the car had not been Each time we came back from a
These apartments are a good size and the one we stayed in had a well equiped kitchen. The pool/BBQ area is new and well kept, and the communal areas are really smart and well tended. Access to Tedder Ave is good, the view is impeded now with a large block opposite, and there was some construction noise. Road is busy, and at the weekend everyone with a noisy vehicle parades up and down until about 3am. The issue we had was with the management, and on the basis of this I wouldn't stay again, and have rated according to how the whole experience made me feel. I contacted them a month out to discuss bed arrangements, as there was flexibility in how these were made up. The manager advised that we would not be able to do this with an ******* booking, though the ******* site clearly gives the option or 2 double and 2 single OR 1 double and 4 single. The manager was negative about ******* bookings and asked me to cancel and book direct. He sent a text asking for AU$650 extra to put us in what he advised was a superior apartment on a higher floor, and advised we were currently booked for level 2, though on the phone he said it was level 3. I advised we hadn’t the budget for this and wouldn’t be cancelling the ******* booking as this gave us cancellation protection, a strong incentive for our booking. The day before travel he contacted me to ask about bed arrangements as if he had never spoken to me before. He was happy at this time to accomodate the requested bed layout, and said he would be putting us in the better apartment on a higher floor that had been previously mentioned (though he didn’t relate to the previous conversation). He didn’t ask for additional money at this time for this supposed better apartment. He was aware that I was arriving alone. When I arrived he immediately shut reception and said he was going to show me what we had booked, and what we could have. He took me to a 2nd floor apartment which was truly awful, and then up to a 13th floor apartment which was significantly better. He then asked for extra money to put us on the 13th floor. I felt so under pressure, and had so been dreading arriving on my own, I was concerned at this point that he would simply refuse our booking or put us on the level 2 unit. He then said “surely it’s worth an additional $100?” I agreed to pay this just to put a stop to this harassment; he isn’t exactly the friendliest person, which felt more intimidating. After the stay, which was absolutely fine though I felt on edge everytime I saw the owner, I found I had not received any ******* points. ******* stated that my booking had been cancelled, even though I could demonstrate that I stayed at the property and had paid them according to the ******* booking arrangements. The manager had cancelled this booking, even though in our first conversation I had specifically told him that I wouldn’t be cancelling the ******* booking and did not want him to do so. To make matters worse, I have been
