Located on the quieter West Bank, the hotel (more of a large guest house) is bang in the middle of a village of locals and gives this place a really authentic feel. The locals in the town centre can harass you extensively, but those in the neighbourhood just want to say hello or get on with their day. I haven't always felt safe in Egypt travelling solo, but here I feel completely at home! Every single member of staff is fantastic. Not all of them speak much English, but they'd do anything to make your stay more comfortable. At least three of the staff speak English well: The owner, Mahmoud, usually hangs around the hotel but also lives locally and treats his guests like family. Ahmed will always greet you with a smile and a warm welcome and Talab is a perfect gentleman who will drive you wherever you need to go. The rooms are divided into three blocks, which have been added at different times. Block one has the best rustic feel. My shower wasn't working properly and Mahmoud proposed a number of solutions. Eventually, I moved to a room in the newer block. Most rooms overlook a beautiful green courtyard with exposed and shaded outdoor seating and a pool. There is also a restaurant on site with indoor and outdoor seating. Everything is reasonably priced, tours can be organised in house, and there's a little shop around the corner for things like bottled water staffed by a couple of lovely ladies who speak no English but will not rip you off. Note, there is a mosque nearby which can be quite loud when announcing the call to prayer and that may not be to everyone's taste. Personally, I feel it adds to the charm and it hasn't yet woken me up at night. Access to the populated East Bank and museums is via a ferry that is a 10 minute walk away and costs just 10 EGP per way. Solo traveller, 34
I just love the Staff and other people around the hotel very positive happy 😊 and helpfull I have a problem getting around on my legs and the help was always at hand please came and have much fun on the roof top pool with view to kill for what can I say the manager on hand and around every day asking if every think is OK well what can you say but Thank you St,Joseph hotel
At the end of the day, you get what you pay for. That being said, for the price, the room surpassed my expectations, in cleanliness and organisation. However, the staff was probably the best part, they helped us book various services in Luxor, including hot air balloon ride. They were very friendly and helpful, and I definitely recommend Shady Hotel as a place to stay for cheap if it is your first time in Luxor.
Without a doubt, the best thing about the Hotel is its staff. Especially Wael and Mohamed, they made my stay worth it, great hosts, with amazing customer orientation. Great professionals. The rest of the staff very friendly too. The location is great, the pool views are the best you can get in Luxor. Best place to enjoy the most welcoming view having a Beer at the pool. You can see the sunset from your pool , room was clean and comfortable and breakfast buffet was good.
Terrible Hotel - Only they want is Money Money Money. Don't take there hotel packaged if you are unfortunate enough to stay here. Inside a Slum area of village with Horse dungs all over the street. Bathroom was dirty. WiFi is only for name sake. Can't use it anytime.

訪訪客The hotel was amazing and we really enjoyed our stay. It was our last hotel in Egypt and the best one! All the staff were friendly and ready to help in anything but we want to especially thanks to the Guest Relations Catherine, she made us feel welcomed and she was friendly, helpful and kind with us the whole time. The swimming pool is fantastic, after a hot day you can chill over the pool, have some drinks and see the beautiful and unforgettable sunset at the River Nile. The hotel is well maintained, the rooms are spacious and clean. They have several restaurants with different dietary options, the breakfast was a delicious international buffet and they even have a gift shop inside the hotel. It is accessible for wheelchair user and kids friendly. Definitely we highly recommended.
訪訪客One of the best hotels in which I have stayed. It was overall an amazing experience. First, professional staff and very friendly, from reception to restaurant and room service, all was amazing. The room was clean and fully equipped with everything that a guest might need. When faced with a problem they quickly try to solve it. Also they were very trust worthy. I happened to lose my sunglasses and they kept them safe for me to pick them up. The view from the nile side was stunning, I strongly recommend picking a room with that view, it’s totally worth the additional fee. The breakfast was also delicious with variety of choices and so was the dinner. This stay is totally worth 5 stars
訪訪客We have not even been here a full night, and we’ve already had problems with our room, and the hotel owner. A friend and I booked one of the nicer rooms in the hotel with a Nile view as a nice ending to our Egypt trip. When we got here, the hotel owner was kind and met us downstairs and helped us bring our bags to our room. We then tried to open the door to our room, and it literally took the owner’s full body weight to open this door… yet he still didn’t try to fix it for us or offer a room exchange. I was slightly concerned at first, but he reassured me that it would be okay when I specifically asked him if this was going to be a consistent issue. Our balcony light also didn’t work, but that’s a much less concerning issue than being able to physically get into the room itself. Later that night, my friend and I tried to get into the room again… same issue. The unlock light went green, but the door was still stuck and jammed in place. We decided to go downstairs and ask for help with this, and was met with the hotel manager once again. He helped us get back into our room, and promised it would be fixed by staff tomorrow and offered (or so I thought) money as an apology for our issues. This man literally counted out single dollar bills into my hand… and wanted me to EXCHANGE IT FOR HIM. Right after we literally had to body slam into our door AGAIN just to get into our room. I am completely unhappy with this experience so far, which is truly sad for such a pretty hotel. DO BETTER.
I stayed at the queen's valley for two weeks ,rooms were clean and spacious, room cleaned daily ,The roof top pool what can i say ,it was clean ,relaxing one of the main reasons i booked this hotel ,and i wasn't disappointed, the food and drinks are reasonably priced i ate there often ,management and staff are helpful and go out of their way ,to help, ill definetly be going back
訪訪客Pleasantly surprised by this hotel, for this price you get a lot: big well appointed rooms, balcony with sunset Nile view, coffee/tea maker, fridge, safe, good airco etc. Staff are super friendly and helpful, led by the guest relations officer Gigi. Biggest plus was the new gym and spa, where professor Ashraf and his helper Mustafa give you incredible treatments for even more incredible prices. Respectful and professional, they come highly recommended!! Ok,decor a little dated but refurbishment is under way. Wifi needs an upgrade though..
訪訪客Excellent hotel/hostel with a friendly owner and staff. Great rooftop social area which is key to learning from others and big value in terms of saving money and time. We booked a West Bank tour through the hotel with Aladine Solomon Tours. Aladine was the best Egyptian tour guide that we encountered. He has a great sense of humor and explained a lot of customs, agriculture, and history that went beyond a normal tour.
