Hotel looks fine from outside, good location for town centre. Staff friendly enough. The room which we paid £103 the night was a small double, very dated, bedding was clean, bed comfortable, clean white towels. The room was filthy, dust on vanity area, unclean coffee cups, dust rolled off the bedside table, windowsill, tv, and a ledge above the bed. Walls marked and dirty, skirtings thick with dust, mirrors not clean. Shower was powerful, but over the bath, with no slip mat( I slipped coming out and hurt my leg! A half used shower gel was still on shower holder. But reasonably clean bathroom. Cleaners knocked on door at 9.10 am and asked if room was vacant! Breakfast buffet style, descent enough.
Over the years, I've been to a dozen countries and have stayed in budget accommodation in quite a few of them. Metro Inns deserves a place in my top 3. The staff are very knowledgeable about the local area and are all friendly and polite. The manager even loaned us a few hangers from his personal lodgings as the previous tenants of our room had either broken or stolen them. Communal toilets and showers were cleaner than expected and well stocked, as was the kitchen (which had plenty of fridges, kettles, and ovens for us to use). The showers were powerful enough to ***** off a day's worth of sweat and grime! Better than my shower at home. Towels were replaced daily for us, which I honestly wasn't expecting as we only paid £12 per head per night. Conveniently located smack bang in between Edinburgh and Glasgow park and rides, but there's plenty to see around the local area such as the Falkirk Wheel and Kelpies. The only downside was that our room only had two power outlets and could have done with a lick of paint, but the beds were surprisingly comfortable. There are also a couple of restaurants within throwing distance if you can't be bothered to cook. The coffee machine in the lobby that uses actual beans instead of instant rubbish was a nice touch. All in all, if I'm back in the area again, I'd definitely book this place again! Even if they raise the price, I would still consider it reasonable. Many thanks for a pleasant stay!
We celebrated the beautiful wedding of our son and daughter-in-law. The staff were very attentive (especially Aaron and Paige), nothing was too much trouble. The food was amazing thank you chefs, waiting staff and the behind scene staff. The bar/restaurant staff were very conscientious. The room very cleaned to a high standard with extras we did not expect eg robes. There will be many staff that I have not mentioned but you all made this a beautiful and amazing wedding I would recommend Inchyra Hotel.
I visited here yesterday for afternoon tea with trepidation, having read the negative reviews regarding accommodation. I was very pleasantly surprised, I found the staff from reception to the servers to be very welcoming and attentive and the afternoon tea was absolutely delicious! I have eaten afternoon tea in some of Edinburgh's top landmarks and this compared favourably with the best at a fraction of the price. Really tasty and varied savouries and sweets and beautifully presented. I had wine rather than tea which was very reasonably priced. All in all, a lovely experience so thanks to all staff involved not least those in the kitchen. The room was comfortable with nice views....if I was to be very picky I'd say that yes, the decor could maybe do with freshening up and some nice easy listening music would have added to the ambience but a lovely experience nonetheless.
