If you can avoid it, stay away! Come here only if you don't want to rest/sleep. It has been a very long time since I've experienced such a huge oversight by a hotel. But clearly Marriott Suites has done it! Each room has two fire detectors, one in the living area and another in the bedroom. And each fire detector has two VERY bright green LEDs that blinks every 3 seconds. The fire detectors in each room are so bright that they will light up the room every 3 seconds when the lights are turned off. What an oversight by a normally very thoughtful brand. The constant blinking of the fire detectors caused my entire family to not sleep until I climbed on a swirl chair to cover the LEDs with tape. Marriott, remember that you're a hotel chain, where people get a night's rest to work or vacation during the day. Your value proposition is providing customers with a bed and a place to rest/sleep. These fire detectors defeat the entire purpose of your product, brand, and goal! Get new fire detectors! There are fire detectors that don't even have LEDs! Very disappointed by this oversight. Caused a lot of trouble and headache for my kids and our vacation. An absoluate unbelievable blunder! Clearly the people that manage this property have not stayed at their own hotel. This is what happens when companies sell what they don't know, customers suffer!
In a world where many hotel chains use COVID or being green as an excuse to save money, I am happy to report that the Westin Dulles rose above my expectations. Much to my surprise, I did not find a green excuse flyer on my pillow to explain why my room could not be cleaned while I was out. Too many hotels use either ecology or COVID-19 as an excuse to set low expectations for customer service. The Westin Dulles is the first hotel that truly delivered on its commitment to customer service. They cleaned my room to spotless perfection while I was out on business. And when I came back I had clean towels and a freshly made bed to sleep in. Westin elevated their brand by doing what used to be expected. Our bar was lowered by COVID-19. However, Westin still cares enough to overcome the challenges facing the hospitality industry. Well done Westin! Gratefully, Gary
Great hotel with excellent shuttle service to Dulles. Very quiet location and within walking distance to a few nearby restaurants. The front desk staff were outstanding. They answered my multiple questions and resolved billing issues quickly. Monique was great at providing shuttle service. I'll be back.
First, the desk clerk was very friendly upon checking in. The process was flawless and we easily found our room on the third floor, room 301. The room was extremely clean and smelled great. Initially, we booked a King room for our overnight stay but when we opened the door and walked in, both of us laughed out loud. The room was SO SMALL!! There's only one night stand on the left side of the bed with a lamp with two outlets in it. THAT'S IT! No other outlets available on the right side of the bed. The sink area was also tiny with barely any room for your essentials. It did have a very nice walk in shower though. I went back downstairs and requested a new room because my husband and I both needed outlets and a nightstand on each side of the bed. Because the hotel was pretty booked, the best they could do for us was a room with two doubles for the same price. I wasn't happy but I didn't have any other choice. That room (302) was bigger with a much bigger sink area so that was good. It came with a super clean microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker. I also wasn't thrilled about having to sleep in a separate bed from my husband but a double doesn't cut it for both of us. The bed was much firmer than I care for but I slept okay. The next morning we woke up and went downstairs for breakfast. They offered Eggs, bacon, oatmeal, English muffins and bagels. It was all really good and we left satisfied. Overall we had a great stay and would be back if we're ever in the area again. Side note: I got a 16oz bottle of water from the little market by the desk and was billed $5.50 for it. Talking about highway robbery!
