Beautiful architecture and a charming Inn. It has a very long and interesting history! If you’re looking to stay in an authentic historical Inn this is it. They have struck a great balance with preserving the historical property and still offering modern touches here and there where it counts. Loved wandering around and finding interesting little sitting areas, ancient door hardware and charming porches. You cannot get better than the location right in downtown and walk to all your meals and nice shops on both the main area and backside mill shops. Nice covered bridge and park along the river right out back and they offer free parking just for guests. Staff was friendly and the Inn was nice and quiet; I got great sleep. Bed was comfortable and room was clean. Whenever I come to town for my outdoor fun I will stay here. I could feel the history from the decor, creaky wooden floors and antique furniture. It’s a special place for those that enjoy historical properties; you’ll love it.
Hotel was fine. Rooms were a bit small however the issue was checking out and the manner in which the front desk handles customers. I pay with one credit card checking in and another meant for our vacation to pay the bill upon checkout..I stated this to Stacey and she wanted my room number and last name. I gave it. She then proceeded to use my first credit card to pay for someone else. I noticed the wrong room number and name and that started the downward spiral for Stacey. So she wanted to bill the correct card but I pointed out that she hadn’t refunded the wrong card. So she did and than charged the right card. However when I asked for a print out it didn’t have any card info to determine which card was billed. She then mumbled to me “I don’t know why you are using two different cards anyway”. Through all this I was attempting to keep my cool. She handed me another print out and it showed nothing again. So apparently the refund didn’t go through and my payment didn’t go through either. Stacey was getting angrier and angrier at me for some how making her day bad….when I explained that I neede this info either in email or print so that if something goes wrong with all this I have proof that my bill was paid and with which card….she said that’s what it is angrily at me….i had had enough of her attitude I responded, “ look, don’t get mad at me and take it out on me because you don’t know how to do your job”. I eventually walked out with everything corrected….i hope….and didn’t appreciate Stacey’s attitude for such a simple procedure to check out.
A wonderful stay! Clean, great location, helpful staff, beautiful lobby, nice continental breakfast. I completely disagree with the negative reviews, finding them overly nit-picky and hyper critical. This is a perfect stay for a visit to beautiful northern New Hampshire. Having traveled extensively, I recommend this hotel without reservation. Bravo!
