We were delighted to visit the alpacas, even though we had missed the regular visiting hours. Hamina kindly met us early in the morning, giving us the opportunity to meet and feed these adorable animals. The accommodation offered a cozy, homely feel with warm colors like yellow and orange. Equipped with kitchenette, dish washer, fridge and utensils. Our room faced the garden and alpaca farm, providing a pleasant and tranquil view. We had a restful stay, which prepared us well for the next leg of our journey. Thank you, Silverstream Alpaca Farm Stay, and a special thanks to Hamina (apologies if I’ve misspelled your name) for making our experience so memorable!

We did the farm tour and it was amazing. Kit was a wonderful guide. He was charismatic informative and really knew how to make this a great experience. Alpacas were beautiful and I’m looking forward to coming back again Will definitely be booking again and highly recommend

Our family (2A + 2C) really enjoyed our stay here. We had the farm tour the afternoon we checked in which was great, we all enjoyed feeding the alpacas. Kit and Cheryl were lovely, making us feel very welcome. Great location only just out of Christchurch and 5 mins from Kaiapoi which has heaps of food options. A great experience and way to end our trip and would definitely recommend

Spent one night here whist travelling south, what a great place to stay. Family run business great accommodation stay included a tour to feed the alpaca’s which was amazing Nothing to much trouble for the staff Definitely would recommend a visit if you are in the area

We had a great stay at the alpaca farm. The animals were a kick, the hosts were very friendly and the grounds were beautiful. We got a tour of the operation and some close-up time with the alpacas. Accommodations were clean and comfortable with a complete kitchen. Breakfast was provided (cook yourself): cereal, milk, eggs, toast, butter, jam, coffee and tea. Overall a great experience!

Our last night in New Zealand could have been ordinary. Instead we thoroughly enjoyed our Farmstay, interacting with lovely and interesting people and feeding and holding adorable fluffy alpacas! The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped. The town has good restaurants and cafes. And it’s just 17 minutes from Christchurch airport, making it a super-convenient place to stay.

We spent a night at this farmstay, and I can safely say this was the highlight of our trip. Kit and Sheryl are wonderful hosts, warm and hospitable and making sure our stay is enjoyable. Although Kit and Sheryl were busy preparing for the NZ Agricultural Show, Kit still made the time to take us on his truck to his other alpaca farm where we could feed and interact with his alpacas, and he was also very informative about his alpacas and answered so many of our questions patiently. He has a genuine love for his alpacas and it’s such a joy to see. And yes, the alpacas are utterly adorable, not to mention highly intelligent, and it’s interesting to learn about them. The accommodation is also charming and really comfortable. We had a large, spacious cottage to ourselves, it was clean and well-maintained, and the bed and furnishings were extremely comfortable. There are also beautiful flowers in front of our cottage and in the estate garden. Sheryl brought over breakfast items including bread, eggs, cereal, yoghurt, milk and spreads for us in the evening for our breakfast as well, which I think is such a lovely touch. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and we would recommend this farmstay and tour to anyone who loves animals.
