南本德聖母院大學區舒適套房酒店(Comfort Suites University Area Notre Dame-South Bend)

We stayed here for two nights for a Notre Dame game and this hotel is in a ok spot but not really walkable. It’s an older hotel and my review might be skewed due to the fact that we paid over $900 for the two nights due to it being a game weekend. This is a nice hotel with very friendly hardworking staff and if I had paid $200 for my two nights, it would have been a great review. It’s older and the carpet had a musty smell. Breakfast was very nice with hot items not usually found in the free breakfast. Free parking but because it’s 3 miles from the stadium, we did have to pay to park in the St. Mary university lot. If I went back for another game, I’d try to stay closer but with the limited hotel choices, this is still a solid choice. All in all… a good stay and a great weekend.

After staying at this property for at least 15 yrs, this was the worst experience ever. Began with a $20 charge for arriving 25 minutes early, for check-in (we sat in the empty lobby for 30 minutes then checked in) ; then room keys did not work, had to go back to front desk; sofa bed did not have linens, then when we went to retrieve at front desk there were no sheets but "4" pillow cases and a single size blanket for a queen-size sleeper; a second trip for linens resulted in three sheets and four more pillow cases: requested housekeeping service 24-hrs in advanced as instructed by front desk, but when we returned after being out all day, nothing was done. Did not service the room period. We even cleared all surfaces as instructed. Breakfast offerings on Fri morning did not offer yogurt, Hard boiled eggs, and past refrigerated items. They did reappear for Sat morning. We stayed for three nights Sept 4-17, 2023. The TV had bad resolution, no channel guide identifiers and is obviously very old. The mattress is extremely worn, lumpy and a bit uncomfortable. All In All, major updates needed across the board before I would consider staying there again.

Property is in need of a total renovation. While it worked, $1000/night for a notre dame game was ridiculous. Again, it worked but the hotel is in desperate need of a renovation. Nice and welcoming staff and decent hot breakfast. Not the place the pics show. Sorry.

Breakfast was bad…undercooked sausage, strange eggs, filthy around waffle maker. Good news is that you can walk to Dunkin’, just outside the hotel. Our room was dirty…someone else’s candy wrappers in the nightstand, hair in the sink. Cleaning spray still in the bathroom so I don’t think they finished cleaning. Liked the room layout though.

Location is accessible to airport and shopping. My only complain is that the facilities are old and not maintained well. The lobby is stuck in the 80’s (or even older, maybe), and not so welcoming. Also, rooms are quite dated, carpets dingy, the TV in our room is (if I’m not mistaken) still in the early 2000’s. The pool was not maintained (at least, around the time when we checked in), it was not clean. Night and day difference with even the other hotel (Homewood Suites) just across the street.

I liked that this place had two double beds and a pull out sofa. I didn’t like that I had to go back down to front desk to get the bedding for the pull out sofa. It should have been in the closet in my opinion. I liked the free breakfast but I didn’t like that the trash was overflowing and they were out of most food items at 8:30-9:00am when breakfast runs until 10am. They said they were out of plastic knives and they were out of waffle mix and hash browns and eggs etc but they were cooking more hash browns and eggs. We left to go to our room at 9:30 and by then they hadn’t restocked the coffee cups or plastic cups for juice. It was a very busy Sunday morning so while I understand it was busy, I feel like they could have done a better job of restocking items and been better prepared for the large crowd they had staying at the hotel.

There was a used razor and soap in our bathroom shower…. Clearly not cleaned or did a poor job. Tons of dirt and debris on the floor. We found someone’s old change just scattered on the floor. Neighborhood wasn’t the greatest. Pool was fun for the kids but there’s definitely mold on the ceiling, cracks in the pool floor, and enough chlorine to kill just about anything. It will stay on your swim suits even after a wash at home. The front desk people looked completely wore out. The free breakfast was pretty bad but good enough for “free”. Never enough for everyone. Barely put any hot foods out when they went empty which were gone within seconds.
