Dear Trippers - I hesitate to share this with you in case I can’t get in when I absolutely MUST go back! One night was definitely not enough for my friend and I who felt immediately ‘at home’ in this relaxed and charming location. Our host Wendy is the most modest Wonder Woman I have ever met. Someone who makes the challenges of guests look easy. Catering for artists and the less talented of us who just appreciate art, delicious dishes and aromas waft from her large yet cosy kitchen. And it’s a multigenerational family affair, where well mannered teenagers (a rare species) help out too. This ancient beamed house could tell some tales and to know some of its secrets would be fascinating to know, the bluebell/ forget me not garden with rambling scented roses are just heavenly. Comfortable, clean, tastefully decorated in keeping with its time, Wendy, her husband and charming family of helpers left us wishing we lived there too.

This was our second visit and we will definitely be back. It could not be a more delightful place to stay. Lovely rooms with impeccable facilities. Excellent food and service. Beautiful setting and gardens. Feels more like staying in a very friendly, professionally-organised private home, than a hotel - and at a very reasonable cost.

A meticulously restored 15th century inn, located in the centre of the charming and neat village of Dedham, just a 30 minute walk across idyllic water-meadows from Flatford Mill (famous from John Constable's Haywain painting), The Marlborough is perfectly located. Our room and bathroom was imaginatively appointed, bright, comfortable and spotless. The inn had a warm and friendly buzz throughout. The breakfast was enormous and delicious, while supper was fairly basic, yet excellently prepared pub grub. The Marlborough is not cheap, yet offers relatively good value in these expensive times for those touring in the UK.

This traditional pub had a nice large room with loads of rustic charm. The staff were brilliant and the breakfast was amazing! For the price it was well worth it.

An excellent hotel for our short break. A rambling building with some history, most importantly very good value with a “home cooked” dinner menu and an ample if modest bar. Only proviso, if you are over 6' you need to take care! Some of those C15th doorways appear to shrink whilst you are there. A very good area for a break. Next question - will I do an art course? we shall see.

This is our second stay at Dedham Hall. We really love it there. It is a beautiful historic building, kept beautifully clean and tidy. Our bed was amazingly comfortable and even our daughters put up bed was comfy. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. There was a very conscientious young lady serving breakfast, nothing is too much trouble. We will be returning soon Thankyou

Lovely building and room with great staff and really good food. The only slight downside was the noise in the room overnight, as the charming-looking windows are gappy.

We had a lovely one night stay here for a friend's wedding nearby. The staff were welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful. They even managed to book us a taxi at short notice. The room was very well appointed and comfortable. Breakfast was at the tea room opposite which was fantastic. One of the best full Englishes I've had. Would definitely stay again.

A very lovely hotel, very friendly staff. The room was lovely, beautiful décor, and a very comfy bed, had a fantastic nights sleep. Typical old building with lovely slopping floors, low ceilings, which adds to the charm of the Marlborough. Can’t comment on the food as the kitchen wasn’t operational due to a fire. We had breakfast in the tea rooms opposite which was lovely with friendly staff. Would highly recommend, and will be back when next in Dedham.

Very friendly and helpful staff but the room ( number 2 ) was overlooking the road and it was so noisy I hardly slept . Can’t comment on the food as the kitchen wasn’t operational due to a fire. We were told breakfast would be served at the tea room opposite and it was dire !

The most amazing food that was cooked to perfection choice was beyond expectation, the rooms were absolutely spotless, services was amazing nothing was to much trouble , all the food was fresh produce well worth staying just for the peace and tranquility

The Hall is lovely. Clean, comfy beds. B&B/evening meal divine. True reflection of age squeaky, uneven, floorboards, decor to suit. Ensuite. Cottage-type garden. Friendly staff. Interesting village.

Staff were super friendly & helpful - nothing was too much bother. Room was good. Food is good - service was excellent Will stay again

Stayed at the Marlborough for one night. Room was comfortable and clean, nice bathroom with very powerful shower. We ate in the restaurant and found the food very good value with excellent service. Breakfast was also good (the "Big Breakfast" lived up to its name!). Will definitely be back.
