錫辛赫斯特城堡農場旅館(Sissinghurst Castle Farmhouse)

The property is very dated, with tired furniture and disgusting brown carpet. Our room had a bizarre shower in a cupboard and tiny toilet with minuscule basin which was ridiculous making shaving very difficult. Sheets were cotton and clean although quilted mattress was very uncomfortable. Whilst the property is located within the Sissinghurst Estate they require you to vacate before 10.30 which is stupid as the Sissinghurst Gardens don’t open until 11.00 so you will need to move your car to the main car park and then wait 30 minutes. The one saving grace is the breakfast which to be fair is one of the best I have had in such a property.

Ambiance très cozy et très British pour cette gentilhommière très confortable et parfaitement calme, dans le cadre historique du château. Lits excellents, salon très agréable, service très dévoué. Excellents petits-déjeuners. Salles de bains un peu exiguës mais bien équipées. C'est mon deuxième séjour de plusieurs jours. Voiture conseillée.

The owners’ dog found its way into our rooms and awoke us and ruined our stay. Their response was that we should have locked our door! No apology or empathy at all - merely arrogance. Any owner in their right mind would have expressed some regret - instead, I was berated like a recalcitrant child for even mentioning it. If you don’t want honest feedback, why ask for it?

Ambiance « Château à la campagne » dans un bel environnement; accueil charmant; propreté parfaite; chambre confortable; thé et pâtisseries offertes à 16h. Le plateau-repas du soir est très généreux mais toujours le même si vous séjournez plusieurs jours. Internet sans faille. Je recommande pour les adultes. Voiture indispensable !

Sissinghurst Castle Farmhouse is beautifully restored with the addition of modern amenities. Anna and Richard are gracious hosts and go out of their way to make sure every detail is taken care of. Breakfast is made to order from a menu of fresh local ingredients and Anna makes professional quality cakes for tea. Because it is in the English countryside - I would recommend renting a car to make going out to restaurants and other sites in the area more convenient. Sissinghurst Castle and gardens are within easy walking distance and absolutely worth visiting - so inspiring!

We stayed at the Castle Farmhouse for seven days, which was probably a lot longer than average but we were using it not only for visiting Sissinghurst but also as a base for visiting places all over Kent, even as far afield as Canterbury. Our extended stay provided a great opportunity to see and appreciate what a great operation that Anna, Richard and their relentlessly friendly and efficient helpers are running. Not that that was our intention, of course, but there you are. First, the house. According to the comprehensive and very interesting "Guest Information" book that we found in our room, the house was renovated by the National Trust in 2009 and, as owners of an old house ourselves, we can confirm what a fantastic job they seem to have done. Our room, the Hemsted, had very large 6 over 6 windows on the corner of the east-facing side of the house making it very light in the morning which suited us just fine. The architects did a great job of squeezing in a small bathroom that worked well and completely met our needs. The King sized bed was also a winner. The house is located just a very short distance from Sissinghurst Castle Garden which made it to walk over on multiple occasions. Anna is a great cook so the breakfasts were fantastic regardless of whether you want to go the full Monty with a fully loaded English breakfast or for something a little less life threatening such as eggs Benedict. She really knows how to poach an egg in a way that puts my undisciplined creations completely in the shade. The quality of the ingredients she uses is also very noticeably high. Most nights we tried one of the many really good pubs and restaurants in the general area but one night we ate in and tried one of her evening salads which were also quite delicious. It was a pleasant break from having to navigate some of the occasionally very skinny local roads to get us back home after dinner. Plus, it allowed us to have a third glass of wine without endangering our lives.. And then, there were the really interesting people we met who were fellow guests. Always an attraction in even the most marginal places we have stayed in over the years but in this case it was just an added attraction. And finally, Anna and her husband, Richard, who actually has a day job, were virtual mines of information who went out of their way to help us with anything in the way of advice, restaurant bookings and anything else needed to make our stay thoroughly enjoyable, which it unquestionably was. They are running a great little business in a beautiful old house in a lovely part of England. The business seems to be doing very well and we are sure that as long as they want to keep at it; which we both agreed must be exhausting even though you would never know it, it will continue to do so. A real gem in the Kentish countryside.

A charming experience! Wonderful connections with the fabulous proprietors and other guests at tea. Excellent restaurants in close proximity! We visited Sissinghurst 2x and followed the bluebells along wooded trails…100% overall!!

If you're traveling to Sissinghurst Gardens, there is simply no better place to stay. I would hazard a guess that the Farmhouse is closer to Sissinghurst than the Sissinghurst's own parking lot. The rooms are lovely and well-appointed. Tea is served in a gorgeous indoor sitting room. If the weather is good, take your cream tea to outdoor tables overlooking the Farmhouse's expansive vista. Definitely have a slice of the blueberry lemon drizzle cake. Scrumptious. The owners are the real highlight here. So kind and welcoming. I can't wait to come back with my 82-year-old mom. She'll appreciate the Farmhouse's discreet elevator.
