阿爾·阿梅恩酒店(Talisman Al Ameen)

If they won’t advertise this hotel as 5 stars I was not going to write any bad review. Angelina Jolie was a guest of this hotel before the war and probably 20 years ago was amazing but the problem is that all is like 20 years ago. Furniture is super old, a lot of dust and common areas left not so clean. Walls in the room need a fresh paint as can see from the pics. Wi-Fi working only near the reception and even if I asked several times if was going to be fix in my room they said all day in the next hour until was too late for me to change the hotel and had to took my working meeting with people around me. Reception people not welcome at all, not a smile, not an apologize for the inconvenience. Reception guys are really far away from a 5 star hotel hospitality (brunette girl but the worst was the guy with the glasses, in the morning after all his lies about fix internet and his nasty attitude he didn’t even say hi or apologize when I checked out with my tour guide and didn’t even say goodbye, thanks for your stay…much better the night shifts guys at least they showed some empathy). A/C in the room three times in the day stopped to work without reason and only started after I called the reception. Tv also wasn’t working. Anyway good things. Room size is really nice. Property is amazing in the old town of Damascus and with beautiful yards and refreshing pool (will be great pillows on the sun beds). Breakfast was nice but had to ask for napkin and knife at the table. The guy that served me at least did his best and was with the right attitude also if his English wasn’t great. I can understand that can be problems but a smile, show empathy, doing an extra mile, welcome and say goodbye in the proper way are all free and ensure will per feel your guest welcome and loved. Another suggestion will be to provide the staff with a t-shirt or at least a badge with their name so we can recognize them. As I said if was a three stars hotel probably I was not even caring but if you advertise yourself as a 5 stars… I expect at least a better attitude from the staff.
