Grund für unseren zweitägigen Aufenthalt war ein erneuter Besuch des spektakulären Meiringspoort-Pass. Frühstück sehr gut. Direkt an der Hauptstraße gelegen, dennoch ruhig, da nachts kaum Verkehr.

Das Housemartin wird von einem freundlichen und engagierten Ehepaar geführt, und ist eines der ältesten und schönsten Häuser in de Rust. Das alte Flair sucht seinesgleichen und die Nähe zum Meiringspoort Pass mit Wasserfall (ca.3km) ist ein unglaubliches Naturerlebnis. Die Zimmer im alten Stil sind schön, aber der Höhepunkt ist ein gutes Abendessen am Kanin im Salon des alten Farmhauses, , von den Gastgebern frisch zubereitet. Ein Aufenthalt lohnt sich sehr!

Great stay with hosts Jan and Theresa! Comfortable rooms (non-catering) with lovely enclosed communal braai area around pool. Awesome 3-course Sunday dinner served by hosts in their large historic dining room, so nice to sit together and meet other guests, what a pleasure! Centrally located, short walking distances to the old-school hotel across the road, Ray's Coffee Shop (top class breakfasts served) and many other quaint establishments, including the Grumpy Goat pub where friendly local residents were met. Absolute gem of a town!

Wonderful stay.Very accommodating hosts.Oasis in the desert.Hosts went out of there way to make us feel at home and accommodate our travel plans.Even offered us a shower after check out after bike trip!

Personally welcomed by the hosts when we arrived. We felt like friends coming to visit, not guests. Our trip was a combination of business and a getaway for us as a couple - Housemartin can be recommended for both business and a getaway.

We had a most beautiful stay. The guesthouse atmosphere was wonderful with very comfortable rooms and the staff were so helpful. The meal we had in the dining room was fantastic, giving us the feel how the family might have dined all those years ago. The next night a scrumptious BBQ was laid on , great fun. The only missing star was because of the lorries on the nearby main road otherwise I could not fault my stay. The hosts were so welcoming and the catering was simply outstanding. Excellent all round.

This was a two night stopover as part of a longer Garden Route tour. What a lovely place to stay. After a nice welcome from the owners we were shown to our cabin. Very well equipped with all the basic essentials. A nice touch with the sweet wine sample. Very comfortable bed and a lovely powerful shower. The food served up was amazing, with ostrich and kudo being the main protein. The vegetables and polenta were very tasty. There was a small pool if you fancied a dip. The water fridge and honesty box is a nice touch. Overall a very nice stay and well worth booking if you’re down that way.

We stayed at House Martin in de Rust for two days the last weekend of January with friends. Our hosts Jan and Theresa was fantastic and Jan prepared the most delicious breakfasts and dinners which was served by two friendly ladies. Our room with en-suite bathroom and aircon and a comfortable queen bed was perfect. At the pool area there was tables and chairs where we could sit till late night and enjoy the fresh Karoo air and silence. The two days felt like a long holiday. We really enjoyed staying at this guest house. The hosts were welcoming and helpful rooms were lovely and well equipped and the pool and gardens lovely to chill in; even if drought meant it wasn't to hosts' preferred standard. The home cooked authentic food was delicious and will be trying at home too. Was part of a tour, so don't know cost for this guesthouse but considering what was included great.

Great. Just great! We are so happy we choce to stay at House Martin. And by coincidence on a Friday. So we got the amazing braai experience. Room was comfortable, breakfast good and Theresa and Jan were the best of hosts! We will be back.

Excellent accommodation. Hosts received us with their warm, friendliness. Made us feel so welcome. The room was well equipped, the food was outstanding. The hosts prepared the food themselves, they were there in the background all the time, without ever feel that they intrude on the privacy of the guesrs. We will be back.

We were warmly welcomed by Jan and Theresa and had a lovely stay in a nice, clean and well-furnished room with en-suite bathroom.

We had a wonderful stay with Theresa and Jan. The Lodge was very comfortable furnished in a very unique style, there was a very welcome little pool and beautiful gardens despite the lack of rain. Theresa and Jan were so welcoming and friendly and the food was amazing with very generous portions. It was like being part of their family staying there. The accommodation was spotless and very comfortable. Would definitely recommend.
