The Aloft Detroit is a beautiful hotel! Everyone was so nice & very professional, so friendly and very helpful. They made you feel very special. It is in a great location, right across from Tiger Stadium & Ford Field, and only 1/2 mile from Little Caesars Arena. Lots of great restaurants withing walking distance. The rooms were very nice, exceptionally clean and the beds were so comfortable. Will absolutely be staying at the Aloft again!

This hotel is beautiful and well-located on Woodward Ave., the Q-tram and the PeopleMover. Desmon, who heated us and checked us in, gave us a list of excellent restaurants within walking distance, as well as encouraging us to take advantage of the hotel’s great restaurant, coffee shop and bar, making the lobby a great place to gather. Room was super, with view of Comerica Park where the Tigers were hosting the Red Sox, and Ford Field, home of the Lions. Great place to stay!

On a family vacation we decided to stop at the David Whitney bar had the best experience with Kevin and Maddie. They made excellent drinks, had great conversation, and were so knowledgeable about Detroit. While we didn’t stay at the David Whitney this vacation, it has now topped our list of where to stay next time we had back to Detroit. The service, ambiance, and drinks were just unmatched and we can’t wait to return.

We had not been to Detroit in over 30 years. What a surprise, and how fortunate we stumbled into the Hotel David Whitney. From the moment we reached the hotel, the staff (especially Desmon & Renee) was impeccable. If you love historic hotels, this checks every box. Well-appointed, luxurious details, stunning restoration. The proximity to the People Mover, sports, theatre, and restaurants made the selection even more perfect. Detroit has so much going for it, and this hotel is a gem.

Loved the vibe of this hotel - a step back into the 1940s-not sure if I have the era right but I love how they preserved some of the original parts of the building- particularly the doors of the hotel rooms and the elevators. The reception area and lounge and all the gathering spaces in the atrium rang true to its theme. Such a classy vibe! The room also delivered the same in its decor and cleanliness that included a luxury bath and shower and the most spectacular view of Commerica Park & Lions Stadium. You cannot beat the location! The hotel is located right off the people mover line and across from one of the new Q Line's stations It is also walking distance to both stadiums and the Detroit Opera and Madison Theatre. The Royce 2 story wine bar across the street and a couple of rooftop restaurants are near by along with a plethora of other places to eat and shop (Lululemon, H & R, Shinola). Now, I wanted to give this hotel 5 but with these higher priced hotels come higher expectations. The mattress was sinking in the middle and made for a not so great night of sleep - it should be replaced or flipped. And while I really loved the original doors on the hotel rooms- the secondary deadbolt did not work- a minor detail but worth mentioning. Also for early risers, it would be nice if free coffee service began at 6:30am instead of 7am (complimentary coffee is only from 7-8am). I had my first call at 7am for work and no coffee to start my day. I was also looking for a place to do these zoom calls (I couldn't do it in the room because my spouse was still asleep) but there is no business center and unused conference spaces required rental/reservation and were others locked. I did manage to find a nice common area on the 2nd level where those conference spaces were that worked out well since most people were not awake yet. One final comment about incidental prices. It's a little pricey- A glass of house wine was $16. 2 glasses of wine and 2 cocktails totaled $75 (with tip). At Capper & Capper, the hotel's designated coffee shop where the complimentary coffee is offered, the price for a premade deli sandwich, bag of chips, water and can of soda was $25. Overall, a very nice hotel and still wins me over with its charm and location despite minor setbacks and plan to return and recommend to friends and family!

This is our second stay at the David Whitney, but the first under the new Autograph Collection. Everything was perfect. Rooms were comfortable and super clean. Staff was warm and welcoming from the valet, to check-in, to the restaurant. Highlight was Kevin, the bartender, who stayed open a little late and made our group of teenage girls the most beautiful and delicious mocktails after a hot walk home from a concert. He also made me the best cocktail I've ever tasted with such creativity and care. Kevin made an already wonderful night even more special for our group. If I could give more than 5 stars I would! We travel a lot and this was the best experience we've had in a long time.

Revisited this property after its previous iteration as an Aloft. The Whitney’s architecture does not disappoint- spectacular. Rooms are well appointed (want quiet- ask for a room overlooking the lobby) and spacious. High end finishings do justice to the Autograph brand. The live piano player in the lobby adds to the elegance of this property-well done. Centrally located to everything in downtown Detroit this property has upgraded substantially since being an Aloft. Presley’s Kitchen attached to the property has some of the most amazing Avocado toast I’ve had in quite some time- worth trying if that’s your thing.

We are Hilton Diamond members and usually Hilton loyalists, but we gave this Marriott property a try and I can't say I was disappointed. Everything from the valet, housekeeping, rooms, and facility were very nice. THE GOOD: Everything was lovely. This is a great historic hotel. The postcards in the rooms, the view, how clean everything was, etc. exceeded our expectations. We had a 2-bedroom suite and we unexpectedly had a washer and dryer in our unit and a giant walk-in closet off the master bedroom. It was great! The housekeeping service was wonderful, and we didn't find anything unclean at all in our room. The lobby is lovely with some great food and beverage options. The location is great if you are going to one of the stadiums, and it was really nice to have access to the People Mover directly in the entrance of the hotel. The beds and pillows were very comfortable and all 4 of us (2 in each bedroom) slept great! THE AREAS OF OPPORTUNITY: There were several elevators out of service, so there were long waits for them, as they are very small. Also, I had requested an early check-in (which I know cannot be guaranteed), but when I got there to check in, they told me the person in our room had a late check-out and wouldn't even be checking out until an hour after I requested to check in. While that's fine, it would have been nice if that was communicated to me in the app or via text when I requested the early check-in. One last thing, we had a 2-bedroom suite, and when I booked, it said 2 king beds (one in each room), but our suite actually had 1 queen bed and 1 king bed. We made it work; it just wasn't what I booked or paid for (we didn't say anything because when I checked in, they told me it was the only 2-room suite they had available for my dates of stay, so I knew there was nothing they could do). Also to note, which I know doesn't really have to do with the hotel, but, Pressley's, the restaurant attached, wasn't super impressive. We went for brunch and the service was very very slow, the food was okay, but it wasn't really a place I would rush back to. There are much better options around. CONCLUSION: If staying in the Detroit area, I would absolutely recommend this hotel. It is worth the price, and the experience of the historic building is great. The area can be a bit sketchy at night, especially in the park out the front entrance, and there were sometimes people sitting out front of the hotel, but if you are aware of your surroundings, you should be okay. We always felt safe inside the facility.

Great hotel, the room and view were perfect along with the location. Shout out to Desmon for being a great host! The view from the 5th floor corner room was magnificent. The host was very nice, informative, and should be commended for his hard work. We will stay here in the future.

The Hotel David Whitney was a wonderful experience! I will stay here again next time I am in Detroit. We were checked in by Desmond who was so friendly and funny, and we were upgraded to a suite thanks to our Marriott Bonvoy membership. The room was huge and so clean with all the amenities we could possibly need. There are some great restaurants within walking distance. Jennifer who worked in the Marketplace was also wonderful and friendly and helped us out with the continental breakfast in the morning! All staff that we encountered were extremely welcoming! Also the hotel is stunningly beautiful. The character and history of the building remain intact even though everything has been fully renovated. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

We were at the hotel for Business and this hotel did not disappoint. From check in to the hotel room to the set up for the conference (Tuesday night, Wednesday and Thursday), everyone was attentive and supportive. The bed was extra comfortable with fluffy pillows and the room was extra cool. The robe was extra! The lobby was striking. I would highly recommend to anyone that would love to be downtown (across from Comerica Park), this is by far the best hotel.

This place was elegant and glamorous as this old time hotel has been beautifully restored to its original splendor. When we first arrived, we were greeted by friendly valet staff who took care of our car immediately. The front desk staff was warm and welcoming. Kolby was at the desk and he made sure we were treated well, telling us to be sure to ask if we needed anything...he also checked us out the next day and was courteous, friendly and was genuinely concerned with our stay and how everything went. As a titanium Bonvoy member, we got an amazing upgrade into a 2 BR apt...It was spacious and well laid out, with full kitchen, dining area, couch and living room area and 2 bedrooms with separate bathrooms. The grandeur of this old building certainly shined...first class all the way. Our room featured views of Comerica Park and Ford Field, along with the Detroit Opera House. The lobby is beautiful and the front desk area features a "library/study" with cozy couches, bookshelves and a fireplace. After our event, we came back for a drink at the bar and the bartenders couldn't have been more friendly...The manager even came over to us and offered a free sample of sangria that they were promoting. Our family can't wait to stay here again. My only nitpick is that as a titanium member, there should be concierge lounge access or breakfast vouchers to the restaurant. We did order breakfast from Presley's, the on-site restaurant, but had to do takeout because the place was booked up. No worries though, we brought it up to the room and ate on real plates with real utensils...I even put my toast in the toaster to crisp it up a bit. Food was really good, especially the homemade poptarts! We got a late checkout, so our Sunday morning was lazy and leisurely as we enjoyed our beautiful apartment.

Beautiful room in a beautiful hotel! We had a beautiful city view of Detroit. Everything about our stay was perfect. The bed in the room was very comfortable, Kolby and the rest of the staff were very welcoming and attentive. Valet parking made coming and going a breeze. The historic Hotel is located right in downtown Detroit. Make sure to enjoy a nightcap in the lovely library room.
